This is so beautifully put together. I love the choice of clips.
Do you have anything of Hazel? I think I see her in one of the earlier moments. I read some of her story but have never seen her. That whole story sounds fascinating and odd.
I tried to tape this on an audio tape from the TV back in 1977, but with voice overs (and still have it somewhere). It was a beautiful piece of music. If memory served me correctly, they played it on Thursdays with the lyrics. Thank you for putting this clip together.
I don't recall all of the characters from the B & W days, other than Joanne, Marge, Stew, and Dr. Rogers.
@GenXorcist1976 You are right. The black and white clips were way before 1974, but this particular piece of music was only used during that time, and the clip shows scenes over the serial's production.
Lovely tribute "Saynotoursoap", but would you have the full closing orchestral version of this theme? Now, that particular closing theme is too beautiful and totally epitomizes Search For Tomorrow. Really stopped watching in 1981 when Search stopped using this theme. Thanks for posting.
My God that was beautful!! What a voice and moving lyrics. Nearly died when they showed Jennifer Phillips (gorgeous Morgan Fairchild). LOL, the black and white clip conversations LOOK so much more interesting than anything in today's shows! Why isn't someone running these classic shows when they were in their prime? It would be a gift from heaven...
@dalehinely I'd love to see an episode or two with Morgan Fairchild as Jennifer Phelps. Also interest in seeing some episodes when Robert Mandan was on "Search For Tomorrow", I know he was on SFT sometime before he went to ABC's comedy send-up of the daytime soaps, "Soap" as Chester Tate 1977-81, but I don't think I was old enough to see Mandan on SFT -- glad he made this collection of clips.
@dalehinely I agree with you 100%. This theme is very beautiful and quite moving!!!! I love the lyrics and the music is so sweet and soothing. It has a very sweet melody.
Great video--awesome to hear the lyrics to this already lovely tune. Is there any chance anyone has ANY footage whatsoever of Billie Lou Watt in any episodes? I'm desperately trying to find footage of Ms. Watt because I have always enjoyed her talents in voice acting. Thanking you in advance to anyone that can help me.
And actually, the video here comes pretty damn close to the best era of "Search," because Robert Mandan's "Sam Reynolds" and Dino Narazano's 'Len Whiting" are here.
If only we'd see some footage of Joan Copeland's "Andrea," Ken Harvey's "Doug Martin," and Leigh Lassen's "Patty,' I'd be convinced you had the missing era which many "Search" fans have long hoped to see again.
More "Bergmans" (especially of "Marge" and "Ellie" in color) and less "McClearys" is definitely the right direction.

They should release this for radio play. I'd love to own this version of the theme song on CD. It's such a sweet and beautiful song.

@Bradat26 This is definitely a beautiful piece of music. I wish I could have a recording of it. Why someone would want to change it is beyond me.

Why does it say "1974-1981" when those black and white shots HAD to have been pre-1974?

Thank you, thank you. One of my favorite shows I watched when I was growing up. Mary Stuart was the best of her era by far.

Yes, I have this and other variations of the "Search For Tomorrow" theme, as well many other soap themes.
But it's nice how you were able to edit those with video from the public domain, to create a very nostalgic montage.
Would that some actual, complete episodes of "Search," from the late 1960s and early '70s, surface somewhere, somehow?
