  • It's not the rules that bug me about Harding. It's the people that come out of college handicapped in the real world because they become so adapted to life in this bubble. I know a few these same students that think that Harding is the greatest place on earth and have actually gone to tattle on people that drank costing that person thousands of dollars and a permanent black spot on their college resume. These same people are going to be in for a rude awakening when they go to the real world

  • The problem with Harding isn't how difficult it is to go to chapel early in the morning, how strict their rules are, or how unfair many of their policies are. Although these are all true, what is truly the worst aspect of Harding is the "bubble," as it is called. Most Harding students will leave, handicapped for life. They will never be able to communicate effectively with non-Christian Americans. They will never be able to enjoy many of the gifts that God has created for us. This saddens me.

  • @chapeltweet Because nobody that comes out of Harding knows how to communicate with non-Christians *Cough*DonMcLaughlin*Cough*Chrissimpson*cough*ScottAdair*Cough*KenNeller*Cough*DevinSwindle

I'm going to have to do something about that cough, I don't think it will stop.

  • @MarvelMonopolyMan How are those even good examples? Anyway, I'm sure there are exceptions to the rule, but on the whole, wtf?

  • Not to mention you don't have to go to Harding, and if you don't go to Harding you don't have to put up with the rules, so if you're taking the time to make an animation about how awful my school is (and my family of Harding students) then it's only because you have something deep against Harding, and though I don't agree with everything that they do, they are still a group that sincerely loves God, and if you don't see that then I'm very sorry

  • I don't feel oppressed at Harding. I feel like I'm not at a state school. We're a different university and we should act differently. I absolutely love every second that I'm at Harding. I love that I start my day looking into the Bible with my fellow students. I love that (and this will be a shocker to you) that I can disagree with my Bible teachers and they will respond in an open minded and loving way. People have too many authority issues, and they want to be able to do what they want.

  • HAAHAH this is great. HARDING SUCKS! barely made it through one semester.

  • I have been at Harding for 4 years and have never been "forced" to worship. They force you to go to chapel (which is not exactly worship), and they certainly do not force you to participate in the singing, etc. They do not force you to go to church or anything else either, so where does this "forced worship" idea come from?

  • What's all this "force" stuff? I'm pretty sure nobody puts a gun to your head to attend Harding University, and much less to attend worship services. I highly, highly doubt the administration at Harding actually wishes to literally force people to follow Christ against their will. That's a little silly.

  • ..wow. This is retarded.

    Harding is fantastic.

The maker of this video is neither talented, nor is he/she intelligent.

In fact, one could assume them to be very ignorant.

Obviously, they've never set foot on the campus or taken the time to talk to those of us who actually chose to come here. Just saying.

  • wow. that was a waste of my time...

  • I went to Harding University and I got fucked up on the dorms and at parties at ppls houses with hundreds of other ppl...it's not that bad I had a good time, the school rules can suck a fat one

  • I chose to go to Harding because I wanted to attend a university that provided a good Christian environment. Harding has helped to facilitate my spiritual growth, and I have received a good education in the process. If your goals (spiritually) are different, than why do you, and those like you waste your time by attending here and acting like you are some kind of victims in the process? You live in a free society, and are you are most certainly free to leave Harding at any time...

  • @hbcool yea lol

  • @StanTman666

Bro Harding the best school I've been too and I've been to MANY. Of course, seeing that ur probably atheist (the 666 in your name) your probably just hating because we believe in Christ. Sounds like a pretty non-liberal thing to do, huh? Because of everyones individuality and free rights

  • Comment removed

  • Yea boi! Lol go hb!

  • You know what Harding didn't "force" you to do? GO THERE! So why did you go there?! Mind your own business and leave those who like Harding ALONE! I currently attend Harding and enjoy it very much.

  • Liberal or more liberal university than most Christian university's albline chrisian university is way more strict

  • Your stupid, seriously hardings not that bad. Those like me who are choosing to go There go there for the environment which it provides. And were not "Brian washed" I choose to go here not because o my parent but because I don't have to worry about as much temptation as other colleges that allow you to have sex basically whenever and don't have a problem with people drinking. If your a real Christian you would see the absolute value of a place like Harding university which is actually a very li

  • @sirzookie i'm not familiar with Brian or the washing of Brian so i can't comment much on that. Nor have i ever heard of albline. sorry. however, i can say that i am extremely familiar with Abilene Christian University and it is much less strict than Harding. Every aspect of ACU is less strict and less conservative. you might need to do some more research before you make bold false claims like that.

  • @sirzookie YOU'RE

  • It's not like I'm bashing this, because I realize its important to have discourse on the rules and standards of an institution like Harding. But it does stand to reason that the people who will go to Harding are people who will appreciate the environment Harding provides--I, for one, appreciated going to a place where I could expect my roommates to not stay out all night partying and puke all over the bathroom floor.

  • Grow up and decide what you - as an adult - want to do. If you can't bear to wear pants to class, go to a school that allows shorts. (although - I've got some bad news for you - employers have dress codes, too)

  • And to the "some of us HAVE to go here because it's the only place our parents will pay for" - please make up your mind as to whether you are adults or children. Adults pay for things themselves. If you want to go somewhere else - GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. THOUSANDS of kids pay for their own education - and chances are it'll cost less than Harding. I paid for my education at Harding - it took a while to pay off, but I did it. I didn't always like the rules - but I accepted them.

  • All of this talk of "as adults, we shouldn't HAVE to" etc. just demonstrates how much you truly aren't an adult. As "adults", you also have the right to go somewhere where they DON'T make you attend chapel at all. I don't think Harding is condemning anyone to hell for missing a few chapels. I'm guessing they believe that students should be required to routinely attend a short, morning devotional in order to promote a Christian-community environment.

  • I don't see the point of bitching about a school you elect to go to? Harding is a private college - if they choose to set rules stating a mandatory chapel, I don't see how you can honestly complain about it. SURELY you knew about it before you applied?

  • This is BRILLIANT and thank you for creating such an accurate depiction of Harding. Thank GOD there are a few sane people out there who see through the B.S. that Harding pumps into students and parents. You summed it all up. The people on here who leave the angry comments are just brainwashed and manipulated and have no way of actually thinking for themselves, so basically... there's no hope in opening their eyes to the truth. Good work and please make another animation about Harding soon.

  • some people might be at harding because their parents wouldn't pay for their college education if they went elsewhere....

  • You know, I'm pretty sure it is impossible to "force" someone to worship. If you look around during chapel, there are lots of students texting, studying, sleeping, etc. There is obviously no "forced" worship going on. If you don't want to attend a chapel every day, don't go to a Christian university. Making fun of chapel does nothing to promote thinking about the issues as you said. What is the true issue is the amount of disrespect that goes on during chapel by so-called Christians.

  • @hushelly2012 i completely agree with your point. i'll admit as a former student at Harding University that i slept and text during chapel and i am not extremely proud of that. but i must say that since students are made to go, you could see how some students would not want to participate, especially at 9 in the morning. some people are not morning people. why doesn't harding have an afternoon chapel service?? and i think the bigger point is the institution's idea of making you go.

  • @hushelly2012 the students are adults, not kids. Harding shouldn't make grown people be somewhere. God wants us to want to worship and some people are naturally not going to want to because they are forced to go. if chapel wasn't mandatory, then the students who really care about worship would go, making it more enjoyable for everyone involved. let the students who wanna sleep in, sleep in. not going to chapel isn't going to ultimately condemn them. Harding can't save souls.

  • wow pathetic.

if you don't like the idea of structured learning environment, WHY'D YA GO TO HARDING?

And I'm so sorry that this is what you have to do to entertain yourself.

  • Do you even go there? If so, and you disagree with the rules, why not just leave? What good does complaining and making a crappy CG video accomplish?

  • hardingpresidentialsearch.blogspot.com

  • All future Harding students know that they will have chapel everyday before they ever get to Harding... it seems to me that if you agree to attend Harding knowing this already, then it's not "forced" worship. The Bible does speak about not complaining, and this video is nothing but complaint, so whether talking in the video or about the video, everyone's complaining... Let's just stop, grow up a little, and be appreciative of the life that's been given to us.

  • People, chill out. For reals. This was obviously made as a joke (albeit one that I find quite hilarious). Why so serious? Whining about the video on youtube only makes you look petty because you have nothing else better to do with your life than complain about a satirical video. As for me, I don't have anything else better to do with my life right now besides making social observations because my spring break has effectively begun. Laugh a little.

  • @micjoremem This is what passes for satire? Sad.

  • Dude, this is great! <3

  • hahahahahahahahaha oh man that was funny

  • After reading all the comments I would like to say one thing... Harding is a private school that gives individuals an experience like no other. Do I totally agree that you should force Christianity down the throats of others, no. Everyone should have a choice. But, if it is going to Harding (for free) or choosing a different school one would have to pay for, 9 times out of 10 that student would not have attended college at all.

  • If you hate Harding's rules, don't go to Harding University. I'm pretty sure God also hates complaining. Also, the theme of the Bible is not "God being frustrated and disappointed by heartless worship". If you, assuming you are, a Christian and you tell non-Christians this, what is the point of becoming a Christian?

The theme of the "entire Bible" is more along the lines of God's love for us and His Son's life - read Jesus' genealogy and you will see that the Bible covers His ancestry.

  • @DukeOfNature i'm extremely sorry for my mistake. it should say that "God being frustrated and disappointed by heartless worship" is one of the main themes of the Bible, not the entire theme.

If you, assuming you are, a Christian please forgive me

  • Duke no Joke if u dont like the rules and u dont want to worship and u dont agree with the way its run then dont go there. Harding isnt making u go there. just like anywhere else in the world there are rules and u do have to follow them. unlike the real world u do have a choice weather or not to go to school there. Harding really is a great school if its not for u alrigh but don't go around making it look like a bad place make a video of the good things if u cant then ur not in the right place.

  • He forgot about the rules prohibiting swimming and dancing...

  • "forced worship could be spiritually damaging ...." AMEN

  • Harding is a business. It churns out about as many atheists and agnostics as it does preachers and youth ministers, but the administration doesn't care about the numbers lost as long as what they are doing keeps the conservative board happy and donations coming in. I got my degree from there, and so far it hasn't been worth the paper it's printed on.

  • @simonbmartin

Seriously?? You're comparing Harding rules (wearing shorts, curfew, chapel) to texting and driving? Please, let me know when me wearing shorts to chapel begins causing wrecks and killing people.

  • I totally agree! It is so sad to see so many students turn away from God because of their inability to live up to Harding's moralistic, self-righteous, legalism. I want to extend grace to everyone the way God has given grace to me, I have been changed by the Gospel and I desire to give God my heart. Sadly often times the message at Harding is we must give God our behavior, and deeds so He will bless us and allow us to experience the joy of eternal life in Heaven. God wants our hearts, or nothing

  • Hey, look, it's the first person to ever think of these things! I'm so glad my eyes have been opened to the oppressive environment I've been forced in to! What an original thought!

...Or, it's exactly the same thing that runs through every Harding student's head at some time or another while they are spending 4 relatively carefree years at the expensive private university of their own choosing. But then again, I've probably just been brainwashed into thinking that while you alone see the light.

  • @bmbrown252 you alone? you're speaking as if no one else agrees with this video and the message it contains.

  • @MrHU1234 No, like I said, lots of people probably agree with some of the things in this video. Nobody thinks that all of Harding's rules are perfect. The things I take issue with in this video are the portrayal of the average Harding student as a brainwashed sheep and the insinuation that the administration is some kind of sinister, big-brother type organization. The first is offensive and the second is just laughable.

  • @falconpoppin123

are you mentally retarded? if you don't attend chapel, you have to talk to the dean. but later on if you keep missing, you can get kicked out. now yes you can always make up excuses as to why you miss so much and probably get out of trouble, but that isn't very God-like is it?

  • Ten bucks says this was made after the creator got chapel probation.

  • @Brainstrain91 haha nope. good try though. i'll take those ten bucks

  • @Brooklyngurl4e just because some students at harding aren't pleased with the rules doesn't mean that they should leave. there is nothing wrong with hoping for change and bringing attention to some issues that might be negative. unfortunately at harding it is not easy to express disagreement to the administration, so this anonymous medium is one of the ways to indirectly cause people to think about these issues.

  • @MrHU1234 You should start a student petition if you're not happy. I don't agree with everything Harding does but making a video that criticizes them isn't going to change anything.

  • @Brooklyngurl4e and perhaps this video will cause some fresh thinking which in turn could lead to some petition or reform. it's doubtful that anything at harding will be reformed in favor of students over the supporting conservative alumnists, but you never know...

  • @Brooklyngurl4e some people don't have that option. some students are MADE to go there because of family reasons.

  • @TheJoker2169 If you are attending college, you are almost certainly a legal adult. When you say you are MADE to attend Harding because of family reasons, what you are saying is that your parents will not foot the bill for you to attend anywhere else. In that case, you should be grateful for a free-to-you college education. The vast majority of the world doesn't have that option.

  • It's important to remember that Harding is not the Church in the standard use of the term, but their goal is to incorporate our Christian beliefs and morals into a higher education experience.

As the Church ourselves (Christ's body of believers), we need to be aware of opportunities to surround ourselves with believers as we work toward the goal set before us: bring glory to God while telling others of His Mercy.

There is a thin line at Harding, where the administration needs to try to put

  • obviously it is impossible to literally force a person to worship. the argument is just that after being forced to be physically present in a worship service every morning at 9, it's pretty natural for worship to become meaningless and mundane

  • @MrHU1234 So do you not go to Church every Sunday and do the same thing?

  • sadly people don't realize that there is always a choice whether to worship or not. so blaming an institution for your lack of making your own choice at the moment is no excuse. it's not worship because you are at an assembly, it's worship because you yourself are doing the worshipping.

  • @Finchspielberg true, but making you be present during the assembly? seems to defeat the purpose of inviting people to listen to God and His Word. some people naturally aren't going to listen because they feel they are made to go.

  • @TheJoker2169

    EXACTLY!!!

  • Nobody's forced to worship.

  • @backinpurple A lot of people like going to harding, myself included. In the same respect, I like living in America. I think some of Harding's rules are stupid in the same way that I think some of America's laws are stupid. I didn't leave the country when they outlawed texting and driving and I'm not leaving Harding because the rules are stupid. lol.

  • @simonbmartin true, but you can't get kicked out of America for driving and texting now can you?

  • good stuff haha

  • I sinned a lot at Harding. Ahh I miss late nights at Berryhill Park.

  • It's great to be at Harding!
