I rode a cr 450 back around 1985 and it had so much power, I could go through the gears in a pasture and never quit spinning at probably 70 mph it was awsome but starting it was another story.

@DrumHonda ya i have an 06 crf250, i race it. i'm much faster around most tracks on the 250 vs 450, the gearing on a 450 is hard to handle.

@jeremyschold i obviously dont know you or your skill level but i would say dont go strait to a 450, i almost never ride my 450 unless im ripping across a field. the handling, gearing, and power delivery is so much better on the 250. just my opinion

I just got an 05 CRF 450 today and was told it had a 480 thumper kit in it.... Lots of extra stuff and all i know is its crazy fast... Im 185lb. and cant keep it on the ground on wet ground.... How much are these worth in real good condition cause i need something with 4 wheels lol

@Fdgod985 im looking at buying a 450 as my first bike ... just becuase you have all that power dosent mean you have to use it .. and once you get better at it the power will always be there unlike a 230f it will get boring really quick. you got a smaller bike bacause you were 12 and imature (not trying to be an ass but everyone is imature at 12) and you would have use all the power at your fingertips without the skill and killed yourself

@conrad573 well theres reasons i like my 250 better and the 450 better. 250 is easier to start when hot but takes forever to warm up in the cold. the 450 is hard to start when hot and loves the cold. the 450 is way better in mud. the 250 sounds way better in my opinion, i like the sound of a high reving motor. if you going to do a lot of racing or field riding the 450 is great but its kinda bad on trail. both are great bikes and i haven't had any problems with either of them. 05 crf450 06crf250
