For those of you who are saying he over revs before the shift do note that if you blip the throttle at 7,000 it shoots the RPMs up it will send the needle past 7,200. I do this all the time in my SVT Focus by accident and I can assure you I shift at 7,000. Sometimes if you're trying to shift while accelerating quickly you can do this. Its like in NFL when a wide receiver is trying to run before he catches the ball. I do like the SVT in the video because of the lack of a ricer exhaust. :)
hmm i had this same car... the euro package. don't know if they modded the engine more for the euro but this car seems to slow down after 60. I was able to get mine to 90 in about 9-10 seconds. same year too. wish I still had it...

Why dose everyone seem to think that this guy is over-revving the engine. Peak power on a stock svtf is made @ 7k. Based of the tq curve and redline, 7.2k, the best shift point is actually at 7.2k. The power and tq hardly fall off after there peaks up to 7200rpm. Also, there is more power and tq available in the next gear once the revs drop. The svtf is one of the few roadcars that it is quickest shifting at the redline on the tach.
FYI Ford dominates pretty much every other car market in the world, especially Europe. There bringing over all there boosted cars from over seas. Cant wait for the new RS Focus with 300 hp and 330 ft-lbs of touque
I wouldnt, 3 buddies of mine own them, one base and 2 type S and they burn oil like a mofo., and believe me, they took care of these cars. The SVT is useless unless it boosted, which can be said for lots of 4 cylinder engines, and then the tru potential comes out. Your still stuck in the 70's and 80's when the big three were lucky to see over 150k. I have 2 prime examples of fords in my driveway with close to or over 300k and show no signs of slowing down.
I run 350 hp on my svtf on 91 with only a turbo running 10 psi, mild cams and other mild stuff. BTW the stock internals are good for up to 16 PSI (not recommended) but the engine will last forever on anything below 13. Another lil bit of info, the svtf was designed to run a supercharger from factory but ford never went through with it, however they did build 2 examples of these cars and they are used to train techs and one of fords labs

actually the focus svt is faster around a track and in a straight line than the ep3 civic si (02-05). more power and a six speed give the svt a slight advantage in a straight line, the rsx s is a different story however.

The A4 is way more expensive than the SVTF. The Golf GTI handles like shit. The new Mustang GT has 111 less hp than the new Camaro SS and is only 0.2 seconds slower in the 1/4. The new Cobtalt hanlles about the same as a SVTf but Ford has hotter Focuses in Europe. The SRT4 is handles like my winter jeep. And the RSX type S I do like, nice looking and K20 is a great motor, but they can't handle or stop. Takes them over 140 feet to stop from 60 and they are a mid.8 range skidpad.
Lol the NSX was in a league of its own. Maybe not so much in a strait line but put it on a track and there was very few cars in or around the same class that would keep up.

which one was faster the contour svt or the focus svt? i have a contour and the limiter tops off at 143mph..but i heard somehwere that if you take out the limiter itll go about 160 with a light ecu package...
the SVT contour is definitely faster from a dig, but from 60+ MPH, the focus is geared a whole lot better and manage's top end speed great. i've had my SVTf so far, up to 150..i have seen dyno runs that have buried the speedo at like 168 mph

This SVT did 40-60 in 3 sec., and yours (and mine) does 40-60 in 5 sec. Still, your zetec sounds pretty nice. Check out my vids of my zetec. The only thing I did to mine was I added a short-ram intake.

It helps to place this car in its catagory; stock 2.0L, naturally aspirated hatch-back. In that context, it rises to near the top, beating all but the most recent Civic Si's, and that's not a reasonable match-up as the SVT Focus ceased production in '04. It's 60-0 times, skid pad and slalom stats still are impressive.

I run 350 hp on my svtf on 91 with only a turbo running 10 psi, mild cams and other mild stuff. BTW the stock internals are good for up to 16 PSI (not recommended) but the engine will last forever on anything below 13. Another lil bit of info, the svtf was designed to run a supercharger from factory but ford never went through with it, however they did build 2 examples of these cars and they are used to train techs and one of fords labs

actually the focus svt is faster around a track and in a straight line than the ep3 civic si (02-05). more power and a six speed give the svt a slight advantage in a straight line, the rsx s is a different story however.

The A4 is way more expensive than the SVTF. The Golf GTI handles like shit. The new Mustang GT has 111 less hp than the new Camaro SS and is only 0.2 seconds slower in the 1/4. The new Cobtalt hanlles about the same as a SVTf but Ford has hotter Focuses in Europe. The SRT4 is handles like my winter jeep. And the RSX type S I do like, nice looking and K20 is a great motor, but they can't handle or stop. Takes them over 140 feet to stop from 60 and they are a mid.8 range skidpad.

Actually it times to about 15 seconds up to 90. Stock focus's seem to trap at about 90mph in the 1/4 mile. So he ran between 15-15.3. Pretty good.

the SVT contour is definitely faster from a dig, but from 60+ MPH, the focus is geared a whole lot better and manage's top end speed great. i've had my SVTf so far, up to 150..i have seen dyno runs that have buried the speedo at like 168 mph

yeah, coming from a fellow SVT owner...im gonna have to say that the SVT would straight smoke a stock zetec, only cause ive done it numerous times, not to mention all the B16's, and LS Integra's that have tried, and TC scions, and Tiburons, and Preludes...all i have done is exhaust, intake, cam gear, and screamin demon coils... I love my SVT Focus, if you dont have a turbo...you have no chance.

This SVT did 40-60 in 3 sec., and yours (and mine) does 40-60 in 5 sec. Still, your zetec sounds pretty nice. Check out my vids of my zetec. The only thing I did to mine was I added a short-ram intake.

honda2363 has no clue what he's talking about. there was a kid at my last dyno run with a b18c2 that dyno'd 14 hp less than my SVT focus. not to mention that was before i put a CAI and exhaust on. my next dyno run is in May. by then i'll have my cams, cam gears, TB, and an off-road pipe as well. i'll be pushing about 205 to the wheels. VTEC THAT!

It helps to place this car in its catagory; stock 2.0L, naturally aspirated hatch-back. In that context, it rises to near the top, beating all but the most recent Civic Si's, and that's not a reasonable match-up as the SVT Focus ceased production in '04. It's 60-0 times, skid pad and slalom stats still are impressive.
