  • Hi carelessplan85. I'm relatively new to owning a handgun. I just got approved in my state to buy a handgun and I am seriously considering a Sig Sauer P229.Are night sights really worth having on a gun such as this? I am a huge fan of Sig pistols an my father has used them in overseas deployments. I am a little worried about the frame cracking as you mentioned in video review. Does Sig Sauer's limited lifetime warranty cover this if it happens?

Thanks for your time an awesome first video.

  • @phillip123455 Hey, this is carelessplan85..I just changed my account name and I'm about to start making new reviews! Night sights are cool for sure! Just make sure you buy some good ones that'll keep their glow for a long time. I mentioned something about the frame cracking just buy reading a couple forums. Truth is, it won't happen. If it does it'll be past your lifetime. These handguns are top-notch in quality and you truly are getting what you pay for. I highly recommend it!!

  • Nice review!

  • actually the 10 lb trigger pull is da and the 4.4 is sa

  • nice coldsore

  • Nice video. Make more.

  • Good vid, but you need better lighting. Its not a slam or anything but for your first vid was pretty damn good.. Nice gun by the way. keep it up..

  • I don't understand some people. You saying the gun is going to take a hit because of weight. It is a gun! A reliable, accurate, well crafted gun. No offense to you but I have been hearing so much bs about the weight of a gun. If you are comparing it to a glock or something I guess it is ok.

  • Nice vid dude... I'm getting a 229 next week.

  • hey, im bout to buy a used one, and was wondering about the decocker lever. how long should you have to hold it until it releases the hammer? also, does this gun have any problems firing reloads? and does it have any factory warranty??

  • From a production stand-point. We need to see MORE GUN, and LESS YOU. Not intended as a slight to you. Lighting is poor, unless you're going for that "Uni-Bomber" look.

  • Im currently carrying a Kimber pro and/or Ultra as my everyday.. thinking of changing over to SIG 229, but love to hear your opinion.

  • I'm not a fan of 1911's. I took a long time to choose when buying the gun and decided this is the one, fits my hand perfect, great recoil. It's just amazing, and the extra weight isnt bad, feels like your holding a gun, not a toy.

  • Weight is a good sign of reliability, if it doesn't work you can always hit him with it. lol As far as price go, you get what you pay for.

  • gotta be honest, i love the sigs. being able to switch barrels is awesome. problem is, right now they are pricey! right now im seeing glocks for 500-600$, while the sigs are 900+. not sure i can justify the extra price.

  • what do you mean switch barrels? all I have seen is the .22 conversion kit.

  • Hey..nice review. What do you think of the 9mm P229?

  • It's a nice handgun. I'd go for a .40 just for the fact of more stopping power, but really that doesnt even matter. You can kill someone with a .22 if you place the shots right! So to answer your question the P229 in 9mm is a good choice!

  • i think u got single and double action confused. it was probably the video nerves but double action is usually higher like a revolver. double action cocks the hammer and also releases it, discharging the weapons causing it to recoil into single action which is lighter. good video tho, im thinking of getting the 229 also. thx for the review.

  • That's exactly what the P229 does, it is double action on the first pull.

  • Good explanation, I like mine too...

  • nice video and review, yeah i have a sig p226r two-tone, in .40s&w, and i love it....but you are right, the factory grips are a bit cheap....i will go and get one of those hogue p226 grips....thanks and keep the videos coming.....

  • did you really hear about frame probs after 1000? or did you mean 10,000?

  • aluminum frame cracks after 1000 rounds fired?? I want buy a P229 and that's for concern...

if any owner of this Sig model can give me a better information it will be helpful, because I heard that a P229 pistol can withstand a 3.000.000 rounds torture test.

  • over 7,000 rounds through my p229 still shootin!!!

  • good one mate, yet again we see that the military will come up with any kind of bs to justify they greed. Just look at the dragon skin.

  • @Sigfofosauer You can shoot 10,000 quite comfortably actually and your Sig will still be ready to go w/o losing any accuracy. The more you shoot, the better it is for the gun. Its frame is literally designed for it.

  • ya ive got a p226

  • Good job for a first time vid. Motivates me to buy a sig p229.

  • I have a P229 .40 which is my first handgun. The weight was a little concern but I'm not planning on using it for concealed carry. But, it shoots nice and feels comfortable.

My only suggestion on the video is to zoom out a bit so that you can show the audience what you're working on while your describing it. Also, you were getting some backlighting which is not that great for this type of situation and makes you and weapon a little too dark. I'm still working up the nerve to post something.

  • Yeah, well I have never made a video before this and I was using my macbook pro. So the only camera is the one built into the screen so I couldnt move it to much. I'm sorry about that man...as for the back lighting I did at night...maybe I'll re-do a video and make it a 2 part now since I have some more information...

  • At 5:40 you said "the trigger in single action is 10 lbs"

What you ment was Double action.

Just posted to clear things up.

  • Yeah, haha...oops. I messed that one up....I left a comment on the video , I think it was the first comment??...either way I left a comment correcting myself...

  • nice review! ya did good man.. stay safe!

  • nice review has anybody ever told you that you look like russel crow? are the grips really that bad that i should change them or is it just sort of a miinor anoyence?

  • haha yeah I've heard the russell crowe. The grips are a personal thing, not a big deal at all...I just lie the rubber grips, they are cheap...more comfortable, gives you a better grip. I have been told that for CCW the polymer stock grips are better, I dont know..I think EVERYTHING is preferance.

  • cool thanks russell :p

mine would be for ccw anyway

any chance u could do a vid of u killin watermellons with that thing?

  • haha, maybe..I live in the city but next time I go up north with my buddy to the country I'll bring a watermelon and go shooting...

  • thanks id apreciate it... hollow point vs fmj if its not to much trouble there arent any of those around thanks again

  • Nice Review. I just purchased the same gun. Havent fired it yet but looking foward to. Do the Hogue grips increase the width of the grips?

  • not too much if at al..

It feels the same to me, just gives a better grip. I bought the panes I'm thinking about going back and getting the wrap because rumor has it it doesnt add any more thickness at all and gives the finger grooves..

  • Im going from carrying a full sized p220 to this, im sure this will be a welcome change in weight and size. as for may 1st sig does not include an extra mag!!! i got screwed!!! other than that it owns. good review! this frame crack after 1k rounds is bullshit btw

  • No problem man!! It is a great firearm, you will not be disappointed.

  • Thanks for the video bro. Im looking to buy a 229 real soon!

  • The carry isnt too bad if you dont mind the extra weight as opposed to a glock or what not. I carry it in a zip-up hoodie. It's a concealed hoodie with pockes in te inside for putting pretty much whatever you want, ipods, cellphone, etc. I choose to use my gun :)

  • How is the weight when you carry it everyday?

Also, how do you carry (what CCW config.) that masterfully designed 229?

  • First off I wanna say nice review man!

In response to perspicacity89's question,I carry my 229 between my 3' and 5'oclock at a 15 degree angle or the "FBI cant".As for the weight, the 229 has a solid steel slide to handle the punishment of the .357sig rounds.I've fired the .357sig thru it and the recoil is way better than its glock counterpart.IMO the fact the 229 is a tad heavier is a small sacrifice for the quality you get when you own a Sig.

    "To hell and back"

  • OOPS I meant the trigger pull in SA is a little over 4 pounds, in DA it is 10 pounds. My bad...
