I don't feel old, I am old... Listening to Local H reminds me of long nights at the lab finishing my thesis at the end of the 90's. When it's 2 a.m. and you have a key to the lab, you used to make the most of having:
1. Free internet (in those days, you were lucky to even have a PC at home with a modem fast enough, nevermind the huge phone bill)
2. Winamp
3. Napster
Local H were regulars on the playlist and got me through many a long night working (ahem...).
I guess everyone was born in '96 here... including me. My parents tried putting me on Hannah Montana and that shit. Instead, I starved myself when I got lunch money to save enough to buy good music like this........ and then some KoRn too....
i was born in 96' and i was born listening to all the good music like 90's 80's 70's and 60's music. I am 15 and i hate all this new hip-hop shit.people don't know what real music is anymore.......
@prestigeWORLWHY Listen kid, hip hop is different then rap. Hip hop is NOT just rap. Rap is something you do hip hop is something you live.. that genre has soul. And it is not shit.
Too much musical ignorance floating around in the comments.. it's a fucking shame. Anyways at least you got good taste just keep your mind open, bud :)
anyone who loves the 90's music scene and were born in the mid 80's to 90's I got news for you. Unless you were sitting in the front seat of your 92 red camaro rs getting your dick sucked by your high school sweetheart, your obssesion with the 90's is just a passing fad.
@neowolf420 I'm almost 40- 36 years old, to be exact. The comment was more or less a parody of all of these young kids on older music videos- be it rock, hip hop, or R&B- always saying that they wish they were born in an earlier time to experience music from a particular era- such as the 90's for example. It's a little imbecilic and annoying, to be honest with you as a person that actually grew up in that era.
@lilicandy666 Whar gets me most often is when they say stuff like this:
"I miss the 90's"...How can a person miss something that they weren't around to experience???
and my personal favorite...
"Why can't music like this get played on the radio instead of (insert well known pop star here)"...not fully realizing that most of the 90's alt-rock stuff NEVER got played on rock radio, let alone top 40 radio.
Maybe not in your area but in my town we had 2 stations that specialized in alternative rock that had heavy metal shows late at night. 92.1 the edge used to play heavy metal on Sunday Night and 88.9 (michigan state university radio) impact has metal shows every Thursday.
@sakonhagakure Alternative rock may get airplay NOW, but when I was around in the 90's, you'd be hard pressed to hear a lot of the 90's alternative rock bands on rock radio. The only way they did get airplay is if they had a huge pop hit. Case in point- Smashing Pumpkins' "1979" and Soundgarden's "Black Hole Sun".
I'm talking about back then as well. 92,1 the edge (now 94.1) used to play bands like Urge Overkill, Verruca Salt, The Stone Roses, Blind Melon, Sonic Youth, and various other bands.Sure they played there fair share of Pearl Jam, Nirvana, Rollins Bands, and the Smashing Pumpkins but other than some college station that was the only station in my area that specialized in alternative music.
@smurfornge I know that, dude! I was poking fun at all of the young kids that post that type of thing on older music videos. I find it to be as funny as it is completely asinine.
@ethan1336 Read the comment again, apparently you are bad at sarcasm. The comment was poking fun at all of the little kids on YouTube who say stuff like "I'm thirteen and I like this song"- or "I miss the 90's" and they were too young to remember- let alone experience the 90's! Personally, I find that to be annoying for the most part. No one cares about what age a person is listening to the song...just listen to the goddamn song!
i was born in '96. so you'd think i'd listen to the jonas brothers right? WRONG! LOCAL H IS APART OF MY SOUL. thanks dad for only letting me listen to the 90's my whole life. You truly rock \m/
@MegaJman9000 Please stop this, you aren't special just because you dont listen to the shit produced today. There are millions and millions of kids just like you.
@wiwq Wait, 90's music is too soft but 80's metal is okay? Okay, Next time I see a bunch of guys in eyeliner and lime-green stretch pants playing basic chords, I'll remember to start a moshpit.
@MegaJman9000 Dude. I was born the same year. My parents tried putting me on Hilary Duff and Backstreet Boys. My parents suck, but I stole the radio and bought some cassette tapes to listen to this good stuff.
@MegaJman9000 man check out high fiving MF and hands on the bible....fuck check out all the local h songs. live in the 90's now. these guys don't disappoint.
Started listening to Soundgarden, they came up in my recommendations and I love them more than any band I've listened to in the past year or so.
