@sharktooth455, the commercial lies a bit. It's not that we won't "let" them leave; their ship is broken, so they're stranded and CAN'T leave. But, yes, the aliens definitely aren't evil invaders. From the humans' perspective, the aliens LOOK crude and violent, but they're just responding to being treated like crap: if you were locked in a slum and starved, you'd be pissed, too. The real villains in D9 are the humans, abusing and exploiting the aliens. I definitely recommend the movie.

@ckret2 nah it was a combo of them not being able to leave and we actually wouldn't let them leave. why do you think that guy shot at the smaller ship with an rpg while it was going up to the ship, but mah nigga Wikus. in the movie we wanted their weapons and shit. it said it pretty directly in the movie niglet

@RATP01 Because by that point in the movie, MNU was getting a big profit off the prawns and wanted to make sure their cash stream didn't escape and/or reveal their cruel experiments to the world; and, also, because the guy who actually shot at it was a borderline sociopath who cared more about killing prawns than he did about whether or not he was supposed to, so even if his bosses had been shouting "LEAVE THAT FOOKING MINI-SHIP ALONE," he still probably would've shot it.
