@tean2269 they didn't leave. They were kidnapped, hijacked, abducted, sold, swindled by Claude Brochu, Jeffrey Loria, Bud Selig + all of MLB owners, Province of Quebec not caring and a host of shady businessmen and their tactics. The fans were betrayed, no TV and French radio broadcast, no Sept. callup during the wildcard race(yes, MLB owners wanted to save $ by nixing Sept. callups). Too much drama to explain in just one setting. Oh, and Canada doesn't build sports stadiums...its true.
This was fantastic. So many great memories. So glad Dave Van Horne made the Hall of Fame this year. Loved him with the Duke! (Across Canada, of course!)
@BSphar my summers are not the same without them...going out to the Big O to catch a ballgame....every year at this time of year with spring training coming soon, its tough...i hope we get em back someday!
RIP Kid. I remember being a kid and cheering for the 93 and 94 Montreal Expos. What an exciting time, I'm talking about pretty much first to third year players playing their hearts out with speed, pitching and defense.
Pretty sad free agency ravaged these teams but man were they ever good
thanks for making this tribute. brought tears to my eyes. I grew up at the Big O. My Dad and I were at many of those great games. After the expos left, I turned my back on baseball.

Wow. Simply wow. From a Mariners fan out here in the American Leauge, I have much respect for the people that put this video together. You are true fans. I feel like I got a brief Expos lesson. Plus the song rocked too.
I'm not an Expos fan, but I do miss having a team in MTL. I loved Pedro and Larry Walker. I feel for Expos fans that lost their team. Too bad there weren't enough of you.
The Expos were my 2nd favorite team growing up as I watched them vs my Mets. This song is awesome; it flooded memories right back of when i was a teenager. Thank you so much for this great song.
I'm a Braves fan, but I miss having the Expos in our division. I think Washington should have gotten a team, but Montreal should have stayed. Then they should of added one more like say New Orleans or Portland or Indianapolis, so there would be 32 teams.
I thought you canucks only liked hockey and that's why all the other sports up there fizzled away. I mean I know you still have the CFL, Blue Jays, Impact, etc but be honest now, how many of you really go to see that?

@ryan48888 Thanks for the info, Ryan. If it happens, I'll clad myself in Expos gear and drag my wife on this road trip. The real challenge, though, will be to not cry like a baby.
i will resurrect the expos by saving enough money to buy a new team.
i will also finance a new downtown multipurpose stadium with a retractable roof. the stadium will also serve as a complete entertainment venue year round complete with shops!
opening day will have a video montage of the history of the team complete with fireworks and a laser light show using the team colors.
if this sounds good to everyone, let me know, and i'll get to work and make it happen because i'm all about results.
@jmar28a Of course once this happens i would put them in the American League because of the natural rivalry between the NEW Expos and the Blue Jays as well as the rivalry with BOSTON. and that's not even including the Yankees!!! we can possibly sell out at least 20 games from the get go!!! it's one of the best ways to ensure that the NEW Expos stay competitive at the gate. if they don't at least do that the NEW expos will be in jeopardy being shut down. thumbs up and holla if you agree!!
@jmar28a Are you actually that rich lol? Honestly though man do it, i really think the people of Montreal would support it this time around especially of we have a good organization. If i were rich, i'd definitely spend as much as I can to help buy a team
I wore my Expos gear at a game down in the States last week and I was surprised at how many cheers and thumbs up I received. The people love the Expos.
- The call they got wrong is probably Vlad's last at bat when he struck out -- I believe on a check swing -- on his last at-bat, with his last chance to get the 40th homer. I remember being furious, so the call was obviously wrong!

Montreal expos forever in my heart
Former Expos voice Rodger Brulotte revealed last week that a group of serious investors is already working on trying to bring a team back to Montreal. Who knows? Maybe by 2020, Nos Amours will be playing in a downtown stadium.
AWESOME job, very well done! Thanks for bringing all these positive memories from when I was a kid. I remember well the time when my dad used to bring me and my brother to the big ''O' also and it was cheap! When I was a little boy, my dream was to catch a ball from during the game. My wish almost came through, I had a baseball in my little hand and there was this unknown adult (a pure idiot) who stoled it from me! Nevertheless, these times were cool! Thanks for your hard work. Cheers!
Still get teary about 1:53 when you compare the pics of you, your bro and your dad at the last game with the pics from when you were kids. Hard to believe the Expos are almost seven years gone now.
@LsWeez Maybe you can please enlighten me on who is who because all I am hearing is nicknames on this song. And besides I haven't seen Tim Wallach or Tim Raines on this video. And the only time I saw Steve Rogers is on this video was when he was "Serving it up" for Rick Monday.
@Jiltedin2007 have you watched the video? "Rock" Raines is mentioned in every single chorus. Wallach is at the beginning of the second verse. His nick name is Eli. Rogers ("sigh') is dropped in the role call plus shown when they won the division.
@MikeinPurple Let's keep the Pirates in Pittsburgh, too much history there. Let's take the Rays out of Tampa, they have a hard enough time putting people in the stadium in the mist of a pennant run. O's fan.
@ONTheRopesShow I guess you're right. The problem in Pittsburgh is more about ownership being unwilling to put major league players on the field. But yeah, it's sad how few people have been at the Trop since '08. Though it is a pretty terrible stadium.
@MikeinPurple Very true about Pittsburgh, but its nice to see them having a good year so far. Hopefully they can keep it going, Pittsburgh deserves a winning ballclub.
Why did the expos don't want to have s team they would up make it all the way I heard stories about them I saw the Gideon it goo great job but the expos should come back as a team they we're one of the beast team
Keep the faith, friend. I genuinely believe that the Expos will be back in Montreal by 2020 --- or whenever that heartless, corrupt fuck Bud Selig retires. Montrealers love and miss this team. They realize what they lost, which is why you see more people walking around in Expos gear today than you did throughout the 80s and 90s.
We just need a passionate owner like the Bronfmans or Molsons to step up for their city.
Just watched the end of the F1 race & our dear Mayor Tremblay was all smiles as he stood in front of the podium. Yeah, smile Tremblay, the wimpiest mayor in Montreal's history, who did absolutely nothing to save the Expos. Everything to save a 3 hour race - zero for 81 home games. Smile at the empty husk of a stadium in your east end, smile at your cops shooting innocent people, smile at the destruction of baseball history in a city that had Jackie Robinson & the Royals right here. Shameful !
Amazing video. Growing up as a Braves fan, I was always fascinated by the Expos. I loved their name and uniforms, and for some reason, I thought it was SO COOL that Al Oliver wore the number 0 on his jersey (something very unusual in any sport back then). I even got my dad to buy me an Expos hat, while at a Braves game one time. All the players honored in this tribute were incredible, a few of them even played for the Braves (Nixon, Grissom, Big Cat, etc.) I miss the Expos too :(

That's why I'm an Expo forever. :)

Have we forgotten Tim Raines, Tim Wallach and Steve Rogers?
Jiltedin2007 8 months ago
@Jiltedin2007 If you mean in the song, then you're an idiot. All three of those guys are mentioned.
LsWeez 8 months ago
@LsWeez Maybe you can please enlighten me on who is who because all I am hearing is nicknames on this song. And besides I haven't seen Tim Wallach or Tim Raines on this video. And the only time I saw Steve Rogers is on this video was when he was "Serving it up" for Rick Monday.
Jiltedin2007 8 months ago
@Jiltedin2007 Eli @ 1:35, Rock @ 2:15 (everytime the chorus comes up)
spinningdorito 8 months ago
@Jiltedin2007 have you watched the video? "Rock" Raines is mentioned in every single chorus. Wallach is at the beginning of the second verse. His nick name is Eli. Rogers ("sigh') is dropped in the role call plus shown when they won the division.
You can be quiet now.

This song is sick. Here's hoping Montreal gets an expansion, or the Pirates or Rays or something. From a White Sox fan
MikeinPurple 8 months ago
@MikeinPurple Let's keep the Pirates in Pittsburgh, too much history there. Let's take the Rays out of Tampa, they have a hard enough time putting people in the stadium in the mist of a pennant run. O's fan.
ONTheRopesShow 8 months ago
@ONTheRopesShow I guess you're right. The problem in Pittsburgh is more about ownership being unwilling to put major league players on the field. But yeah, it's sad how few people have been at the Trop since '08. Though it is a pretty terrible stadium.
MikeinPurple 8 months ago
@MikeinPurple Very true about Pittsburgh, but its nice to see them having a good year so far. Hopefully they can keep it going, Pittsburgh deserves a winning ballclub.

Interesting article on CBC about baseball in Montreal.
Our city CAN support the Expos. Now we just need the fans to step up and demand it, like Winnipeggers did for their Jets!

@walsy37
MontrealExposForever 8 months ago
@INOMUSICfyi Yeah, tell that to Joey Votto, 2010 NL MVP.
Then again, don't let facts get in the way of your bigotry.

@MontrealExposForever And let's not forget Jusin Morneau, the 2006 AL MVP.

Shameful !

Winnipeg got their Jets back.
We need someone to step up here in Quebec so we can bring our Expos home.
Montreal lost the team once; we wouldn't let go of them again.

You got no one but yourselves to blame Montreal! That's what you get when you don't support your team. Baseball in Montreal? WHAT A JOKE!!!
Oh by the way, thank you for Pedro Martinez. We had some good years.

@Jiltedin2007 Almost as big of a joke as blaming LeBron James for ditching Cleveland, eh?

Amazing video. Growing up as a Braves fan, I was always fascinated by the Expos. I loved their name and uniforms, and for some reason, I thought it was SO COOL that Al Oliver wore the number 0 on his jersey (something very unusual in any sport back then). I even got my dad to buy me an Expos hat, while at a Braves game one time. All the players honored in this tribute were incredible, a few of them even played for the Braves (Nixon, Grissom, Big Cat, etc.) I miss the Expos too :(
