  • "If you want proper shops you'd better go somewhere else" And hope Tesco hasn't got there first and put them all out of business! I've lived other places and Glasto beats most of them hands down.

  • Tbh, you sound like a hippy.... and glastonbury is one of the best places i have ever been to...

  • bloody brilliant

  • bloody brillliant

  • i know some of the people in that video ... FAIL x

  • @melody2309 Fail?

  • Having lived in these parts a little over 1000 years ago, I see it has taken all the magic we created and thrown it into a cauldron and got some pretty weird results.....Ah! students of the game, more study good people, less weed and the original magic can return. In the name of impartiality there are a handful of good magicians still alive and well, though most left for Cornwall and one I believe moved to Slough.... life IS weird, is it not?

  • And this is why I moved out of Glastonbury!

  • quite a lot of truth in this - sadly

  • i love glastonbury... even nicolas cage said its the most magical place in the world :) but yeah this video's quite right lol

  • @braaad69 What would Nicholas Cage know about magic? He single-handedly ruined a cult Pagan film, therefore I'm not sure his opinion can be taken seriously.

  • This video is exactly right.I think it's a hoot.

  • @hproud Thank you very much :)

  • I live in Glastonbury; and this video is spot on!

Some people just need to develop a sense of humour!

    Cider wielding hippies lol! :-)

  • @markbradleyf1 So many people are happy to laugh until it is pointed in their direction, then they say stuff like, "that's not funny", it's just a little pathetic.

    Thanks :)

  • This is not funny, you should take it off and maybe put up something more positive in it's place.

  • @zdonna362 I think it's funny.

  • @zdonna362 Yes, it is very funny :)

  • I have a wicked sense of humour and I agree there's not enough laughter in Glastonbury but this video isn't funny. For someone who reckons he's got such a great soh (Gardenspoon) you seem to be taking the comments very seriously. So,you can say what you like but no one else can? Is that it? Re:the comment by 'thekeepsmusic' I asked a lady attending the Goddess Conference about that comment in the paper and she said the treatment mentioned is to help women heal who have been sexually abused.

  • @readysteady2 I'm not taking any of it seriously, some of my commenters here have made me laugh

  • Bloody funny and totally acurate!

  • @jacquilouise666 Thank you :)

  • why have people got a problem with this , it is a shite town only good for the festival !!!

  • @cambershots Some can't take a little fun being poked at them...

  • hahahahaha (Glastonbury resident for 25 years)

  • @melody2309 Thank you, glad you see the funny side :)

  • Did you know they offer labia stimulation for £50 at the godess conference, something reported in our local paper and well known to attendees? I'd do it for £10 you know :) But then i'd be arrested.

  • @thekeepsmusic Ha ha!!! Very good! :)

  • dude i live in glasto thats awesome do u live there? funny as ..... !! michael

  • @sofairyqueen Thanks. My brother used to live there, and he wrote most of this.

  • lol funny! I have lived in the area for nearly 10 years and its nice to see someone prick the bubble for a change otherwise it'd be tourist propoganda all the way. Its those that feel attacked who are moaning when really they are merely being lampooned. Practice what your preach by being tolerant, accepting and chilling out!

  • @thekeepsmusic You made a very good point there, thank you very much :)

  • @boopeedoop If you didn't just fly off the handle at the first hint of seeing 'something you don't like' (happens a lot, does it?) you might realise that Gardenspoon has done other videos of far more prosaic towns than Glasto.

Try 'Come to Farnborough' (sorry - can't post the link) and you might just discover that sense of humour you seem to have misplaced...

  • Hmmm .. I live there, and I suppose would be one of gardenspoon's 'rednecks' since I've lived there all my life. I've seen it change from a small market town to the extraordinary collection of diversities which it is now, so can see some validity in the point this guy's making. It's not what gardenspoon is saying, but the way it's being said which is the problem here: ad hominem (ad feminam?) singling out of one individual, using photographs without (I suspect) the consent of the subjects.

  • @gardenspoon if there is no hate, why make such personal comments about Kathy Jones? And the folks who are trying to run the Backpackers who you have effectively accused of harbouring "unfriendly locals"... how would you feel if you were either of those two? It's just not funny, mate... apologise and do something better!

  • @nsbmiller I don't hate Kathy Jones, I didn't say that, what I said is that she's charging idiots a fortune pagan lies and bullshit. So, what have I to apologise for?

  • @gardenspoon women come from all over the world to paticipate in kathy jones's goddess conference - its a beautiful gathering and these women leave empowered, feeling good about themselves, the town is colourful for a week, the local economy is boosted, glastonbury and the world is enrichened by it all - how do you earn a living?

  • @gardenspoon that is simply not true, kathy jones's work empowers women, they leave feeling really good about who they are - any product anywhere is a consumer item - the world you advocate would be very dull and grey

  • @viziondanz I'll let you keep your opinion, but to me, all this spiritual stuff is for those who don't have a very good grasp on reality.

  • @gardenspoon just naming people is wrong, maybe your brother does live there, have you had the courage to name him? I agree with richand famous 59<s comments below

  • a poor attempt at humour. there are lots funnier sides to Glastonbury but the author obviously doesn't know them

re the homeless: not many of the 'bench crew' are homeless, but at least they feel accepted enough to show themselves in public

in short: a load of ignorant wank

and besides, Kathy Jones is spelt with a K

  • Comment removed

  • @richnfamous59 Well, maybe you should take a look at one of 'fred's' videos - that might be more your kind of humour.

  • @gardenspoon

you can only call something 'humour' if it's funny - and this isn't, it's stupid and ignorant

  • @richnfamous59 I made this video to my own amusement, and to me it IS funny, and to many others too - if you don't find it funny that isn't my problem.

  • @gardenspoon

just for the record, i'm no fan of Kathy Jones but your ideas about the town being overrun with homeless people are plain wrong. where do you live? i might come, spend a day, and then make an uninformed video about it

  • @richnfamous59 Come to Guildford, and make a video - you are most welcome, but I have beaten you to it...

  • Hi I live here, people don't like this cos underneath the humour you have hit the nail on the head. We have a street full of shops flogging mass produced 'Paganalia to the touristst at huge prices. Take a walk up the high street and there they are in their droves wondering up and down looking gormless in their quest for over priced rubbish. If come here thinking you can buy this rubbish and become a 'goddess or a shaman or a druid then as they say a fool and thier money are soon parted.

  • @festivalimage Yes, absolutely. I have met quite a few people with crap opinions today, so thank you for your input.

  • Its a pleasure. I am looking forward to Come to Glastonbury vol two. glastonbury away with the Faeries

  • @festivalimage gabriel the whole economic system we live in is fabricated, the shops in glastonbury contribute to the heath and vitality of the glastonbury you love - what would you prefer mcdonalds , penny arcades and betting shops - a town needs a healthy economy to be healthy - its the tourists that have been a buffer against the recession here

  • Brian. I am not a christian in any sense of the word but I am reminded of that bit in the bible where Jesus goes to the temple and finding all the money lenders and crooks using the place to fleece the population goes off on one and kicks them all out turning over their tables and asking how they dare to cheapen the house of his father. I feel like that every time I walk down the street. Glastonbury is the place and the magic. not about the rich hippes selling plastic crap to tourists

  • @@festivalimage gabriel the whole economic system we live in is fabricated, the shops in glastonbury contribute to the heath and vitality of the glastonbury you love - what would you prefer mcdonalds , penny arcades and betting shops - a town needs a healthy economy to be healthy - its the tourists that have been a buffer against the recession here

  • not just funny, charmingly, delightful and captures the heart of summer at least.

At best it is cause for much reflection, not least that we live in a democracy

  • Not particularly funny. In fact, mind-numbingly predictable and uninspired. And just a liiiiitle bit too self-righteous for my taste. But hey, you made an effort.

  • @michaelfuchs93 Thanks. Of course we wrote this with our own sense of humour in mind - I don't expect everyone to get it.

  • @gardenspoon - It's just that there are some really hilarious sides to Glastonbury but you just focused on the negatives, which aren't even unique to Glastonbury: substance abuse and homelessness. How funny is that? Your inability to see beyond the tacky High Street says more about you than the town. A more informed and deeper look at Glastonbury could have been so much more "funny" than personal defamations.

  • @michaelfuchs93 You don't find the same level of 'stick-on' spirituality in any other town.

Maybe the reason you found this video predictable is because you live there, and see all of the faults I've pointed out on a daily basis - but someone else has made a video of it.

What IS unique to Glasto is that people think they can 'buy' spirituality.

Anyway, I made this because I found it funny, and not because you might not.

  • @gardenspoon Sorry, but you'll find deluded consumerist pseudo-spirituality and addiction to narcissistic self-improvement absolutely everywhere, in all centres like Glastonbury, all around the world. Been there, done that.. What IS unique to Glastonbury is that it's all very much out in the open - in yer face! - so the crap is unfortunately more visible, too. But if you can't see beyond the superficial, that's mostly a reflection of where you're at, because Glastonbury does go deeper than that.

  • @michaelfuchs93 Are you one of these spiritual types then - because if you are it would explain your ignorance?

You say 'been there - done that' but I doubt you have - otherwise you'd know that other towns don't have the same amount of pretentious spiritual clap-trap, or the same volume of people searching for a deluded salvation.

Jesus - you owe me a pint.

  • @gardenspoon You want credentials? :-D And what's with the "one of these spiritual types"? Nice to see your attitude finally revealed. Enjoy the pint!

  • @gardenspoon what happened to you to make you so bitter? and do you make a living in a totally ethical way?

  • @viziondanz I am not bitter, I enjoyed making this video, and in case you don't realise there are a lot of people from Glastonbury that have got the joke.

Also, yes my living IS made in an ethical manner.

  • Love it Love it, I live here and have often heard those comments, all said tongue in cheek. For we know that here, begger and king alike can find his home, his healing and spiritual awakening. The video shows this, Those souls who are drawn here for whatever reason, but are not at the right level to have the veils of illusion stripped, will make a video like this because it is all they are permitted to see. due to level of soul evolution, reality would simply be too much for them to bear.

  • @naemasufi Thanks, I'm glad you can see the funny side.

  • a lot of people who mean no harm to anyne are extremely vulnerable there, ive lived there for a time myself so i should know, dont knock what u do not understand please.

  • @triffiks As it goes, my brother who wrote most of this has spent a quite a lot of time in Glasto.

  • mentioning people by name is not particulary funny, shudder to think what yoiu would make of certain areas in london!!!!!!

  • It's funny in a crude, self-righteous sort of way. I actually think you are someone who doesnt understand or appreciate lifestyles that dont provide Tesco's or PC World. But by closing your mind to all the intelligent, creative and well-being aspects of the town and only emphasising the deviant you show your self up as a narrow-minded bigot. My advice - get a life!! And gardenspoon what kind of a weak ineffectual monika is that?

  • @boopeedoop Well, you are quite wrong - there is nothing wrong with having a pop at Glastonbury - most will have a sense of humour, this is Britain not bloody America.

Anyway, I am very happy with my username

  • Get some healing, brother, Glastonbury welcomes you Peace peace

  • @featherbliss It's only a town - it can't actually physically welcome anything. But thanks.

  • Love your little vignettes, Gardenspoon. It appears that a number of people with zero sense of humour have bought in to the pseudo-spirituality toted for an extortinate sum in a beautiful town with a mercurial reputation that attracts... all sorts!

Folks, if you want something spiritual, get out there and find your own places. Don't buy a plastic version of it for silly money and perpetuate the nonsense!

  • @ZarquonFillibuster Excellent thinking there, I couldn't have put it better, thanks :)

  • Couldnt agree more .

  • Glastonbury is the best place on earth!! wooooppp!!!!

  • @heatherjbryson It is for some people

  • Really close to the truth! Well done!

  • @thegrannyful Close is good enough for me :)

  • Why the hate?

  • @nsbmiller There's no hate.

  • every town has its share of dysfunctional people and "hippies" what is wrong with hippies anyway? why have you chosen to focus on one small segment of the population ? what is your problem?

  • @viziondanz I think you may have missed the point here. I don't have a problem with hippies - the video is just a litte bit of fun.

  • @gardenspoon - "i don't have a problem with" -------- fill in the blanks - any race, lifestyle or belief system - i am sorry but this video hit a nerve with me because it feeds a prejudice that exists in our culture , one that is cancerous, contagious and spread by people like u who are "just having fun" - look at the damage that rush limbaugh has done to american society by just "being an entertainer" poking fun. Ever since hippies appeared in the culture there has been a backlash

  • @viziondanz It is very difficult to make a video without somebody, somewhere taking offence to it - I just don't worry about it - if I can make fun of myself I can make fun of everybody else with a clean conscience. So, if you don't like it, I am not even sorry.

  • @gardenspoon if you type "weston-super-mare" into the search box above you will find (2nd I think) the "Tourist Info Film" done tongue-in-cheek... enjoy (sorry, Youtube doesn't allow me to post links for some reason)! If you do something like this about Glastonbury I might quite enjoy it, as I do that one... :-)

  • a sad piece of work

  • @viziondanz Sad - why?

  • @gardenspoon because it is a distorted picture of a wonderful town and buys right into narrow minded prejudices

  • @viziondanz It is kind of wonderful, but it is also full of hippies and spongers - what's wrong that out?

  • @gardenspoon If you can't send see, then you clearly should look at your own prejudices that lead to the comments you make about Kathy Jones (it's Kathy with a 'K', for the record, not that you bothered to check before slandering her in your commentary/description above) and the Backpackers which didn't deserve to be singled out at all (there is no record of the Backpackers having any excessive violence at all)... not to mention all the rest.

  • hahahaa.....lived there for eleven years....ah, but it has a great side too,

  • I feel sorry for this video .... I proposed to my wife in Glastonbury, we celebrated her birthday here - I think this is wrong - sorry Gardenspoon your wrong on this one.

  • @johnamiller I should imagine that someone has celebrated birthdays in every town in the UK, I'd hardly avoid uploading something like this for such a reason. This video isn't about you - it's just a joke - don't be so sensative. :)

  • trying to find videos using my phone isn't easy,

Because I'm still at work ;)

  • @spaceman300 Yeah, you'll get in trouble doing that

  • I fell in love with Glastonbury the first time I went there but that doesn't stop me from getting a good laught out of the video. First-rate work!!

  • @tedhead60

Thanks, glad you see the humour in this

    :)

  • LOL this made me laugh you said it all thats why i moved to Swindon

  • @applecountychoppers

Swindon must be rather plain after Glastonbury, except for that special roundabout :)

  • I must've missed this little gem in the melee' of material you two have been blasting from both barrels...to be homest, a town full of hippychick eye candy sounds kinda OK to me! Must check it after I tour Farnborough.

  • Glasty is cool, we both like it, but that doesn't stop us from taking the piss - it never does :)

    Thanks haggi

  • open air lunatic asylum with weed and cider? sounds like fun. im busy for the next 2 weeks. bye

  • It is kind of fun, Tom

    Thanks

  • Sorry I missed this video, Paul! It didn't show up...

    Entertaining, as always.

  • Thanks, Jon

I'm not surprised you'v missed the odd video here and there :)

  • when i went to glaston i spent all weekend high on slugs

  • you prick don't you know that slugs cause mantal problems

  • It just occurred to me - regarding your point 'if you want proper shops, go somewhere else', you're absolutely right. A local woman told me during my last visit that she can't even buy a pair of knickers in Glastonbury. So there you go!

  • glastonberry is well sick man, i cud live there anyday

  • I didn't realise it was that bad, last time I went I found an outlet of Morrisions, though the staff looked really miserable

  • Maybe they're sad cos they've run out of knickers.

  • That was fun. But are you turning into a grumpy old man Paul? Personally I enjoy visiting Glastonbury every so often - but dunno if I could live there. By the way, regarding the comment made 3 days ago by someone who obviously thinks Glastonbury is simply the name of a famous music festival -- I wonder how many people know that it is in fact a town as well??

  • Hey Steve,

I've always been a grumpy sod. I actually quite like Glastonbury too, but I don't think I could live there either.

  • Fair enough! By the way, the way you use your voice in your postings is getting funnier and funnier -- keep 'em comin'!

  • I lived in glasty for years trust me its even more shit than paul made it out to be.

  • lmao!

  • LOL! It sounds good to me. Please provide a sampling of native redneck verbal abuses, so I know what to expect.

  • I'll have to get Andy to do that

  • lmao these are awesome!

  • Thanks Derek

  • Those dirty hippies forced me out of Glastonbury.

  • Naughty little bugger

  • Never been to glastonbury, should've gone years ago when it was still possible to sneak in (along with the hundreds of new age travelers), would'nt go now though, I heard it costs about 2 weeks wages for a ticket ;O)

  • Yeah you'd have trouble getting there for free now, it's like a bloody fortress

    000000000h

  • at least its not like angelsey, i think time forgot to tell them about gas and electric.. im sure if your english and you go over there at night they come out with pitchforks getting you off "there land"

  • Angelsey is nice, at least it is while I've never been there

  • I want to go to Glastonbury ... Only for their festival though! :P

    5*

  • I've never been to the festival, but the place is as odd as I've described it...

  • lol hahaha

    faved and 5 starred ;)

im going there RIGHT NOW!!! XD

  • You're not going there right now, I don't believe you ;-)

    Thanks mate

  • excellent!

  • Thanks :)
