In 1968, there was an exhibition of "Contemporary Art" at the Serpentine Gallery on the Mall, London, Andy Warhol's Soup cans, Lichtenstein's "Wham", etc. I was horrified at an exhibit entitled "Hippy Dead" I told my friends; "That's disgusting! how could anyone put the dead corpse of a Hippy in a pink tent and call it Art?" Well I agree the video is appealing, but reading the blurb written by Rory McGrath, I notice that he wrote the song and the music, pretty good stuff if you ask me. The lyrics sum up the whole era 40 years ago and the lines are funny too. I adore the reference to Psychedelia Smith's Recipes for space cakes and mushroom quiche.

As for the voice, purrrrrfect. Here is to 1967-2007, I was 40 this year too!

Pretty damn good, albeit not for the popular masses. I liked the so godamn obvious Bob Dylanesque Video work. Also some of the field shots look like the publicity that Zeppelin used at Knebworth - (JS is a god!)Rory's singing not brilliant but suited the feel of the song. Looking forward to the "B" Side!
