Brawl and melee are two different animals if you play well. For instance, I mained shiek on melee, and on melee the fighting mechanics made sheik OWN. Now sheik is suck. the difference between brawl and melee is like apple and orange, that is, brawl has way more content and entertaining gameplay, but melee, in my humble opinion, has a better engine. In the end, they both rock.

I still prefer Melee more. When it comes to having a Smash Bros. game as a tournament game, Melee is so much better. There are way too many things removed from Brawl, that were in Melee, that Brawl rather qualifies as a party or a big gang game. But sure, Brawl is great. But as a fast tempo tournament game, Melee is much better.
