  • I love it... but some of you are a bit flat footed at some points and I'm not sure the dresses help show off your dancing? Love the music though :)

  • my mum was a world Irish Champion - its lovely

  • Can i ask why are the dresses so long O.o ... ?

  • This is beautiful!!! Wonderful job! Makes my irish heart jump for joy! Thanks for sharing!

  • UP GALWAY! Fantastic. LONG LIVE IRELAND AND GOD RESTORE PEACE TO IRELAND.

BUT I WILL ALSO SAY LONG LIVE THE USA WHERE SOME OF THE FINEST IRISH DANCERS HAVE WON CHAMPIONSHIPS. I am an old step dancer and won championships, but that is very ancient history. Have A MOST BLESSED ST. PATRICKS DAY- MARCH 17, BUT REMEMBER TO HAVE A HOLY, BLESSED EASTER. PRAY FOR PEACE IN AMERICA.

    GOD BLESS YOU ALL.

    AVE MARIA + + + PAX CHRISTI + + +

  • @17lebanesedude

I'm glad you enjoyed it :) the Irish Culture has many beautiful elements.

    Same to you!

  • love it **

  • well done its great

  • How did you get the Celtic group to make music specifically for this performance?

  • @trinityirishdancers

they saw us dance one year and invited us to dance live at their concerts with them. they started recording pieces for us so we could choreograph. this is one of the dances we would have done at their live performances :) it was lots of fun!!

  • @irishdancer602 And yet I still think it's a wonderful video....

Perhaps you should practice your typing as well....

  • r butterfly jig was really fast :S

  • @Sambabe19

yeah, that happens sometimes when the live band gives us the music Lol

  • I'm Polish and I love Irish culture cause I practically grew up in a part of North America where most of my clasmates and neighbours were of Irish descent. So sad to see the Irish in Ireland hate the Polish so much.

  • @jebus0000000

hopefully we can all find a way to live and enjoy life together one day. but I hope you enjoyed the video :)

  • @jebus0000000

That's not true. Where did you hear that?

  • @MegaVlad666 A lot of extremely racist comments here on youtube but maybe it's just these trolls who write things like that though.

  • i m very fond of this kind of dance ! big hello from France.

  • @oberek92

    bonjour from america! ;)

  • Great dance! Sooo distracted by their awful dresses though! Older/bigger girls need dresses with waists! You can't see their lines at all in waist-less sacks!

  • @rbsadler sry these are traditional irish dresses and real hair.....nowadays the young children wear gosh awful heavy fake wigs and they look like barbie dolls.......pretty disgusting......

  • @grangma -agree with you completely. It's nice to see a group taking Irish dance seriously instead of trying to turn it into a flashy local version of Riverdance.

  • @grangma I know it seems like society is making everything trashy nowadays......I would not have thought that Irish people/families would approve of the way their children are exploited.....I know my parents would never have permitted the dresses or wigs........

  • @grangma I know these are traditional dresses, but there are PLENTY of traditional dresses with true waists. Older girls need the pleats to open at the true waist or you can't see their leg lines properly and it just isn't a flattering cut on girls with breasts. Also, I didn't say anything about their hair. I much prefer the natural hair to the 80s mega perm.

  • @rbsadler

    @grangma

hey guys :) so, I know people are always thrown off by our dresses when they see them. yes, they are an EXTREMELY traditional cut and style. because each dress is made for the girl wearing it, it's hard at times to get uniform "waist" lines and length, but since we aren't competitive dancers and just do showcases, people usually don't get too distracted. I hope you still were able to enjoy the video, because we love to dance no matter what we're wearing :)

  • @gurlUBtripN Of course! Nothing against your dancing, I thought it was beautiful! I just personally enjoy seeing leg lines more <3

  • @rbsadler

I understand Lol we feel the same way sometimes. but glad you enjoyed the dancing! :)

  • Great post thumbs up

  • hey!!hi there! I irish dance too for glendarragh academy and you're right, this isnt a tricky style of dancing to learn. if you have the oppurtunity then i suggest you go with it! x

  • i remember doing this in my irish dancing class i thought it was one of the best and including the walls of limerick simple but nice!

  • fada beo ireland !!!!! (Long Live Ireland!)

  • The music is not The Butterfly, but another slip jig called "The Kid on the Mountain" (badly played, BTW ...). OK, "The Butterfly" (which is actually a hop jig) comes after...

  • That was awesome. I really enjoyed watching you all dance.(As for @smilibear, keep your know it all attitude to yourself!!)

  • is this type of dancing hard to learn? i've always wanted to learn to dance like this

  • @Rcpengy123

it's actually not very difficult if you stay committed and practive. I've had lots of fun learning, but it's just a hobby for me, I'm not a competitive dancer. you should look for a school in your area!

  • @Rcpengy123 YEah, its really not as hard as it seems but if you really get into it and your commited to do and willing to practice then its a buttload of fun.. but the dances itself aren't hard to learn.. i take lessons down in Layton, Utah.. I will post some videos on my account so you can check them out. :) Subscribe.Comment.Like ;D

  • @Rcpengy123 I did Irish step dancing when I was younger it's really not hard especially if you have a good teacher

  • The dresses had some beautiful detailing on them :)

  • @smilibear17

    @SloppyxJoe

Hey guys :) we aren't a competitive dance group, we just dance as a hobby. it's a lot of fun! our dancing isn't professional, but we stay on beat and we have a GREAT time doing this together. wish you could have enjoyed the video more!

  • WHAT IS THAT????? THAT IS NOT A SLIP JIG!!!

I am an Irish Dancer and that is NOTHING close to a slip jig!

  • @smilibear17 Ehm, then you obviously don't listen to the music... Because these Irish tunes are definitely slipjigs. Perhaps you're used to other slipjig dances, that is a possibility. But then still, the tunes are slipjigs. The dances are called slipjigs, because de music is a slipjig rythm, savvy...

I agree, beautiful dresses! But a wee bit shorter would do good, because then you can see the dancing better. It doesn't need to be really short, though. Just a wee bit. :-)

  • @Sarbanda

I understand what you mean about them being shorter Lol we always have mixed feelings about the longer length :) but thank you very much

  • This first tune is called "Kid on the Mountain". Change to the "Butterfly" from at 1:52.

  • Nicely done, good crosses and lifts but those dresses are way too long. you don't see much of your legs, so it kind of makes it look a bit sloppy even though it isn't.

  • These are obviously beginners. Good though.

Myself I've been dancing for fourteen years.

  • A few things to say. @ DanniesWorld17: If you call those dresses long then you have never dirty danced in floor lenght formals and stelettos. Those dresses are short, okay?

And also, lol part of one of the skips looked like the 'jerk'. Not to make fun of your very nice dancing, but it just reminded me of it. So all in all very good.

    -Chimi of chimiangelpro

  • beautiful dresses, and well done

  • Oh i really like ur dance .. But why is ur dresses soo long?!

  • @DanniesWorld17

well we like having the gold pleats and the way it looks when we twirl =)

  • @gurlUBtripN The length of the dresses is distracting. Irish dresses are always 4 inches above the knee so you can see the dancing better. Your dancing is fun and the figures are nice and clean tho. Great job!

  • @shellyhathaway Not always. My whole dance club has dresses the same length as that. It's standard in our club. They only get shorter when you start going to nationals and ADA. We have dresses that are an inch below the knee as well, but they're for displays and are semi-medieval. I enjoy displays so much more than competition. You girls dance great by the way!

  • @Emikero

I'm glad you enjoyed it :) thanks!
