He's so handsome! Thanks for sharing his story. My dog Twix is a black and tan plus walker hound x. She was a rescue dog- had been a lab research dog at a university. She looks very much like Ashley. She was frightened too when she first arrived... glad you were able to get Ashley home to the UK.

my black and tan has a very strange bark. she cant project like the other coonhounds i have seen on here. i was wondering if this is a certain type of bark or if something could be wrong? we think she was just dropped off

@coonhoundlover Some hounds are louder than others. One reason someone might want their hound to be very loud and project their bark well is if the person is a hunter and their hound a hunting dog that is hunted in the forests. A bark that projects would be a good thing if the hound is quarter of a mile off in the woods. If, instead, your hound is a house dog, then a softer bark would be great!

@minnesotagirl47 They are UKC and Purple Ribbon Registered Black and Tan Coonhounds. They do like to hunt! Nice thing about them is they are smart hounds so they are easy to live with, very responsive to my voice. They are not competition hunted. They are just hounds out and about having fun.

i had a black and tan for19 years if you picked his front legs up and stood him up he was about 5 tall i coon hunted up until about two months before he died he had so much energy i had to take him felt bad if i didnt i need to get a black and tan but every body that seen my dog said they have never seen one as big as him but he was full blooded

I have a redtick coon hound that looks just like these. One of the nicest dogs around but she is lacking some major brain power. I think a sack of hammer handles is smarter than her lol!

dont rush your pups and be patient. hunting pups hard before 1 yr will burn them out. if u can find anyone to go with, go with em and make like a sponge. u will have many unfruitfull, long, wet, cold, mosquito infested nights. keep with it and dont get discouraged. find the coons and take your dog out there. pm me if ya got any other detailed questions
