I guess it maybe because people have always known it's there but there was no mention of Apples kill switch. It clearly still exists as they were able to wipe the phone once they knew it was stolen. Why would anyone accept such a switch in any of their devices? No other piece of kit do I know of has a kill switch that enables a company to brick their devices if the company decides you've been naughty. Another reason I hate Apple.

Then another guy found it and tried to return it to another person at the bar, getting no results being that he left. So he ended up selling it to Gizmodo for 5k also the phone is obviously apples or else they wouldn't formally request it back

Yeah man, I think this may be the real deal. I've been excited about 4G ever since the 3GS was announced. I was disappointed when I saw the 3GS was almost exactly identical to the 3G so, It's nice to know they're finally tossing the "bubbly" look & going for a more "tech" look.
