thankyou for posting...my dad has this too.. he also makes "mph" sounds and his arm flies up and back repeatively when laying down. sad thing is... he denies having a tic. he shouldnt be ashamed. neither should you. ever.
hard exercise WILL increase will power over the body and the mind, tics can be controlled this way just give it 2 full months of exercising 2 hours a day, and while your running or excercising keep going through the process of and WHY this tic has control over you and eventually you will realize nothing is making you tic EXCEPT YOURSELF its all about will power people believe me.
yesterday, just last night i started looking left real quick then back again. it feels like if i try to stop then tension builds up. its like my right eye enjoys the cold air on the side of it but it's driving me nuts. my eye is getting strained. is this considered a tic?
I am actually kinda of glad to see other people with facial tics like me. Mine are a little different then yours, I mainly have my whole head twitch or other parts of my body. But I have had my eyes and face sometimes tic like yours. But it doesn't happen in my face that often. Do you know of any remedies that will help. Everything I tried doesn't work.
@shaynapulley: thank you so much, I have just the same since a short while, and it is so hard to bear, all friends started falling out, I got desperate, you just helped me... it's so good knowing that there are people who have sth similar***
What can I do regarding treatment, do you know?? Hugs***
One of my friends has tourettes. She usually has eye tics & mild vocal tics. She tends to roll her eyes a lot & blink rapidly. It's hard for her because people really misunderstand her and assume she's rolling her eyes because she thinks someone or what you said was stupid. A lot of people thinks she's purposely being rude! But it's just her tics!!! :O
@cookiedipp Keep being an awesome friend for her, she needs a good friend like you in her life! It sounds like you can be a good support source for her :)
I do this every once in a while, I also do this thing where i push air up the back of my throat and make a weird kind of yelping sound. The eye rolling and blinking Is fairly hard to control, but the throat one i can usually stop by focusing on deep breathing.
I have the same tic. I will be 30 next week and i started the eye twitching tic around the time i was 19 or 20. It has started getting a little worse now with the mouth movement too. It gets very depressing sometimes and i have pushed myself away from people because of it. I just hope and pray my kids have no effect of this when they get older.
@ginobilinumber4 Check out my video "Attitudes about Tourettes / It's Going to be Okay" - tics are nothing to be ashamed of and should be embraced as a wonderful part of who you are! I'm proud of you for living with it this long, I started ticcing around the same age that you did and will likely be ticcing until I'm old and gray. It's going to be okay!!!
thank you for sharing this

@DalRachel There's a clinical trial for a medication called Ecopipam at John's Hopkins hospital that you can look into.

@sm19mi Controlled breathing really can help if you're aware of the tics and if they're being too bothersome.

I'm 23 now, had this since I can remember. Usually worse when I'm by myself. Very, very annoying =[

When im nervous I get tic's mainly my eye's, is it anything or just some habbit ive formed?
IrishAspie 1 year ago
@IrishAspie little eye tics aren't anything to worry about at all :)
it's basically just your brain's way of reacting to or processing things!

is there a name for this? because i have it too..
TeishaW 1 year ago
Facial tics by themselves are motor tics or "Motor Tic Disorder"
Facial tics accompanied by vocal tics are called Tourette's Syndrome
You can find more information by searching "tic disorder" on wikipedia :)
