Incredible... one of the Mother's best line-ups, for sure. I also dig that Frank is soloing with a clean tone on parts of this rather than the ultra-distorted over-driven Pignose tone he opted for in later years. He was always an awesome player in my book, but I really like hearing him play clean once in a while. (I love the clap-along to Bruce Fowler's bizarre trombone solo in the "tango" starting at 10:05...). Thanks for posting!
Wow I didn't even know a live version of Greggery Peccary even existed... or was even possible... Damn the closest thing to musicianship like this today would have to be Fredrik Thordendal or Morgan Agren. Damn this is awesome
03:57 jean luc ponty's unexpected short note - breaks the video stream... this is more than acoustics, sound or electricity... this is more than just music...
Hello dudes of real music! Enter in my chanel if you have time, see my videos and my favoritoes, ... My videos are almost just improvisation, but I will make some cover of the best type and original songs of me soon:D thank you all for your time and thanks for the music.
Love the man. Going to see his boy tonight at Liverpool Philharmonic. This insane music keeps me sane. Fuck the pop biz. This is what freedom is all about.. Exploration and discovery. Innit
This is an early version of what became the Greggery Peccary classic most of us remember from 1978. There were some rewrites and revisions along the way before it was put on vinyl (including the lyrics) but this is sort of a wire-frame and somewhat improvisational version. The studio release is on "Studio Tan" and is 20:34 long.
Pretty fanfukkintastic video (though a bit off sync), I saw this piece performed on tour in Indianapolis by this lineup (aka The Little Wazoo Orchestra), great that someone captured it for posterity!! And he was wearing those same pants that night.
Led Zepplin I think

@chibby79: Not quite sure, but those few first notes sound something like out of Duane Allman's book...

This is from perhaps my favorite period of Zappa's. I sure miss having him alive to see again.
This piece live to see and hear was quite a good way to show what he was after athe moment.
Thanks.

Stéphane Grappelli was my favourite violinist before I discovered the magic of Jean-Luc Ponty, his playing is delicious.

Check out Be-Bop Tango (Of The Old Jazzmen's Church) on Roxy & Elsewhere [Live]. Takes up entire side four of four-record album.
Best ending to a concert I've ever heard...XD enjoy

I'v watched this about 40 times just in the last month (actually- listened most of the time).
I wish someone would attempt to do what Frank did , and produce REAL music - like this stuff !
It's too bad that it cut's Ruth off at the end - Doesn't really seem like the song actually got to run it's full course.

As a muso of 20+ years, I still have no idea how these guys ever remembered their parts in some of these tunes. So damn complex.
