Ahh you make it looks so easy! My rolls always end up looking hollow! Wtf. It's annoying. Im gonna keep trying. lol by the way did you make your hair rat or buy it?
Collect the hair strands from your brushes at home! They'll always match your specific color, and you'll be styling like women did in those good ol' days!! :)
You may consider a beautiful, compact "rat trap" for your vanity. Look in vintage hot spots.
@18valval It's a pin up girl inspired by a Elvgren painting - but I had her sit in a cupcake. ^^ If you go to my Facebook you can see a detailed picture. :)
anyone wanting to buy your own hair rat; save your money. You can make your own :) Just take pantyhose and cut them any length you want. Tear up cotton balls and fill the stocking and arrange to any length you want. tie in a knot to secure :) Viola! You have your very own rat
Just lovely. I've been trying victory rolls out but can never get them right. Practice makes perfect I suppose. What kinda lipstick are you wearing?! I absolutely love the color, but haven't been able to find one like it around. :(
Wow u have mad skill rolling your hair up so well in just a few tries. I spend forever on this and usually have to use an iron to get it going in the right direction! Thanks for the vid, it helped me out a lot!
(Hairdresser Australia) You are so talented I get heaps of women asking me how can I do my own hair at home I should tell them about your videos keep up the good work awesome!
This is AWESOME. I can't believe I didn't find you sooner. In terms of preparing the hair - is "second-day hair" plus pomade the only thing you use? My hair is very fine and I am having a rough time getting the hair to roll at all without falling out all over the place :( Any advice?
I'm only 16 and I started liking that kind of looks like pinup or vintage looks. I just wanna ask what are usually the things you need to have that kind of hair?
How on earth do you get the roll to go so neat at the beginning? i just don't get how you even begin to roll it up. I've tried everything and it doesn't work. I can't get the neat little loop you have in any way shape or form. Completely impossible.
@elvisrocs88 It is do-able on longer hair. I've seen girls pull it off. Try looking up ilovegerardo. She has really long hair and completes these pin up looks.
Ok. I have SUPER thick hair and I really want to do a good victory roll. I can get it to look "OK" from the front but how is it suppose to look from the back? Cause I'm pretty sure its not suppose to look like a mess of bobby pins like mine ends up looking like but I just cant figure out how to pin inside the roll from the back end without messing the whole thing up. Sorry I'm such a noob at retro styles :Z
@InuSasha99 Hollow as in, you're not supposed to see through them from one end to another :) - A hair rat is something you roll your hair around, and it helps with making rolls. In this video I used it for the roll made out of the hair in the back
@fal00la If you use a hair rat you just roll the hair around it and pin it... :) I don't think thin hair should make it impossible to make victory rolls w/out a rat. Tease the hair to make it appear thicker and hairspray the hair that will be inside the roll afterwards. Wait until it dries a little or else the teasing will be for nothing.. I have fine hair, and bobbypins can slip and slide easily, but hairspraying where I pin and teasing, helps. Just takes more practice because of the hairtype:)
Ladies, Y'all need to get a hairspray in a blue can with yellow letters from Sally's. It's called "Hold It". Caution: DO NOT spray your hair with "Hold It" until it is EXACTLY like you want it. There is no tweaking it afterward! Your hair will stay in position about 24 hrs. You cannot brush it out. You must wash it out. Thanks for the tute!
@misshoneymoon1 Haha, I shop the sales lady! also I like to sew and be creative that way. I almost always add and an extra little personal touch to the clothes I buy.. :) Like adding fabric to skirtlengths etc..
@ClassicRetroGlamour That is such a great idea..i don't even know why i didn't think of that lol. Thank you for the idea...and the lovely videos. Cheers
I tryed to do the victory rolls, i fail at it..My hair is super soft so when i try to roll it it just falls apart...Do you think i should try putting Mouse in it to make it more stiff?
I wash my hair everday because i naturally have oily hair and i hate the feeling of Greasy hair.
@RetroEgo Try teasing the hair more to make it sturdier. Also using hairspray or pomade to help with control. It works! If you try and go a couple of days without washing your hair, it's going to get oily at first because it's used to getting washed all the time so it's going to produce more oils. You have to break the cycle. I only wash my hair once a week, two tops, and it's fine. Plus, It's best to not style on clean hair. It'll be less slippery/soft and it'll be easier to control.
@alphabeticaldoom Until recently, yes, it was. In my two latest videos I've cut it just a little, and it's slightly layered.. Not much though. Layers are definitely a must for vintage hairstyles! Makes everything so much easier.. :)
@thecheatofcoolness Oh, well, you've got have a certain length to your hair as well, to be able to acheive the victory roll.. :) But you can make variations of it with shorter hair. I think the victory roll can be difficult for everyone, it needs practice to get the technique down! :)
@ClassicRetroGlamour of course! where should i send the pics and today i also did the hair do you did in your very 1st video. i took pics of that too.
@MissPrettyElleC The one I use in this video was a random one I got a long time ago.. Not really my favorite, it's sort of uneven and doesn't lay flat against the head. The others I've used are from BelleBlossoms. com :)
I think that if your hair is longer than mine, it's an advantage to use this kind of tool to create the roll. I feel it makes the hair easier to handle, especially if your making it on yourself. If your hair is shorter than mine, it depends on how much shorter, you can always make a thinner hair rat to get the hair to go around it. Now, I don't know if you have longer og shorter hair, but you'll just have to try it out and see what works best for you. :)
Finally made the most beautiful set of rolls the other day :)))) I was soooo proud of my hair all day!!!

Is it easier to do rolls on freshly washed hair or the day after?
SaJolieFille 1 month ago
@SaJolieFille Day after. (Or pre styled hair) The natural oils in your hair gives better hold and the hair is more pliable to styling.

I know what its like to get frustrated with the victort rolls
with the roll in the back, does it matter how long your hair has to be?
BettieDied 2 years ago
I think that if your hair is longer than mine, it's an advantage to use this kind of tool to create the roll. I feel it makes the hair easier to handle, especially if your making it on yourself. If your hair is shorter than mine, it depends on how much shorter, you can always make a thinner hair rat to get the hair to go around it.
