The people of this country should really focus on birth control instead of bringing kids into to the world to suffer. Did she not know that she was poor and could not take care of a child after having the first one? What about after the second child? Or the third? Or the forth? Or the fifth? Absolutely despicable! The foreigners who reward them for their mistakes are only encouraging them to continue the cycle poverty because they will not learn from their mistakes. Give them birth control!
This is a tragedy.I feel bad for ALL of them. Would like to help in anyway possible. The children are INNOCENT. They're not responsible for the unfortunate circumstances in which they were born, neither for the social, ecconomic conditions present in the country. PPL talk as if ONLY RICH ppl should reproduce. To reproduce is a part of nature. Sometimes SEX is comforting to ppl who R suffering. Birth control is not an option, she's too poor to afford it and no social agency to get it free!!!
When those of you who have made the vile comments, finally come to meet your maker...you will surely be refused entry. Your comments are ill formed, disgusting and racist. The world was made to be home to all...
well lets think of how it all started. how haiti started and who started it. GOD was there when it started, thesame GOD is watching now. we did not determine our race by ourselves, hence we should be thankful and not proud of our race. To be thankful is to extend our hands to the less privilaged race. GOD bless.
Unless you're a white supremacist then there's no way anyone believes that the people who pillaged the 3rd world for centuries is endangered. Outside of that, sensible people aren't so easily fooled.
And Jesus Christ there are a lot of insanely racist comments on this video.
1-- Mike I do not dought that you are a fine man trying to help... criticism can be a good thing if a person wants to learn. What i see in the way you operate your mission, i have seen thousands as you..If your mission is helping one person at a time...your doing a good job...if your mission is trying to help as many as you can for every dollar...your going about it the wrong way....I know you have the heart but not going about it the right way...you could be doing so much more..
Meet one poor family out of millions...and "Can we do that? please? this is not a mission , its a moment of sadness... a real mission knows the direction they are going to help thousands, not help one family that breaks your heart for that moment. Help her with cash each month and her front door will be flooded with "more" men that want to be with her and make more children..maybe you can open an orphanage in her house...wait one more year and see if she does not have one more...
Gonaive I have soo little time to respond to your criticism. Today I was in Cite Soleil and they tell me no one comes to listen to their problems. I built an orphanage and school in Source Matelas with with now 130 children with my own money, have done many loans, give my own money for the poor, dance with the people, lift their broken spirits, try to find jobs, give food and rice to the hungry. What do you do? Please, tell me.
That cousin is looks as poor as her, what kind of info do you really think you will get from him. Stop listening to your wife Mike and get information regarding to haiti from people that have lived and worked in haiti....everyone knows haiti is poor, use the money on stopping programs that will help stamp out poverty....not going around like a blanc...giving money, you are doing a welfare mission that will not go will do nothing for the people..
$200. $300. for clothes..hahaa....that could buy a whole village clothes, for $300. of "Kenedy" you could fill a truck load...you need to do your homework first in haiti and stop listening to people that are only looking at you like "blanc".... This is un-beleivable...you are making the same mistakes that so many whites make in haiti...."Give a man a fishing pole instead of giving him the fish, while your standing on a mountain.......Do your homework...
You think that "money" can stop poverty,,,give them so much a month and you have changed a life. As you can clearly see! this is not a women that has control of her life....Will she really have control of $200. a month, or will the man in her life control it? You see poverty and think that it can be controled by money...
stop thinking with your heart and start thinking with your brain...To help people,,go to the root of the problem, Cannot beleive this..
If you read my thread you would see that i mentioned that these people are acustom to living on $30. a month...and offering $200. a month is more than they can even imagine having. You meet these people for one minute..do not know nothing about them, Is this really her children? Is the money really going to go for the children? Is her so called husband going to use the $200. a month for the children or another "new" girl friend? this is not how you help people.....
If you return 6 months later.....she and the children will be in the same state as you see her now. The man in her life at this time will have the extra money for the other girl friend...this is not a charity mission,,,,,this is not organized...a waste.
these kids can come from 5 different fathers...to offer money by the month is not the way to help these people. Here is some one that lives on an average of $30a month and they are offering $200. to $300. a month. That women that wants to help has no clue. She is thinking with her heart instead of her brain.
The financial figures that they are coming with,,,,,is tooo high...understand that these people are living on an average of $30. a month and your offering $200.00 ? Just to offer an amount per month is only giving the father extra spending money..this is not a way to help anyone in that family.
Excuse me, rice and beans have more than doubled in the past year. $200 a month for a woman with five children is not a lot. She needs to buy chabon (charcoal), oil, mangos for eating and juice, sometimes pots, pans, and what about clothes sandals and many things to live. $30 a month does not cover the food if you want to try to help her and use to do it on $30 a month please come and show me because $30 is only $240 HT a month and that buys one bag 25 lb rice which cannot last two weeks.
For those with bright ideas...keep this in mind...children in haiti are the ones to help with gardens, they are your old age pension,,,you must many as 4 of 10 will die before 8 yrs. old.
I just recevied a response from the person who put this video up so i felt compelled to get my point across. you can not give a person a fish and not show them how to catch it for themselves. Haiti is a failed state and the only thing that can save the Haitian masses is Education and oppertunties not people who think they can "save Haiti". (American citizien who grew up in Haiti and lived amogest Haiti's black privledge class).
I am not saying it is right to keep having babies, but I know for a fact that no one can get there tubes tied, like in the US or have other options, such as abortion to keep family size down. Condoms are pretty much non existent and when you dont have knowledge regarding sex education you dont know about it.
yea theres nothing worse then being in this situation but to keep bringing ANY babies into this condition is Fuced up! STOP HAVING BABIES! like the mother is starving and living in hell so why the hell is she doing this to these poor kids that didnt ask for this!?
Are you serious? DO some research. I have been to Haiti, my husband is Haitian born here. Just as in our country, where the lesser income families, who do not have access to the best doctors, birth control, etc. They have babies. But unlike our country where we have Welfare programs, it becomes manageable.
I am not trying to be mean, but this woman is poor to ground zero, why she keeps having children? She has what? Five children. Why you want to bring children to a country like Haiti and can barely take care of them. Her husband is good for nothing the only thing he's good for is bel coute zozo, bel coute gouyade, that's it.
Please listen carefully to what we are saying before judging. My committment is not to keep them in poverty but to rise them to an abundant life. Don't you think they deserve it?
Keep in mind...that most of these families live on $1 day. Giving them $50. a month would be of great help and you could help so many more families...Your talking $300 usd a month.??? they have never seen such money. Keep that up and your new mission will fall to the ground. Your being fooled...seek help from other missions...you need to get educated on the situation in haiti. Your creating a welfare state...what you are doing is not helping them for the future..
Were are you getting your figures from? @00 or $300. a month is so much damn money in haiti...A family like this could live on $50.00....keep in mind that they do not go shopping like you do in the usa...You people do not have a clue..on giving help in haiti...
You should ask her what she needs. She is an adult in a bad situation, so treat her as such. When you are poor all you have is your dignity. So leave her some....You feel goods can do a lot of harm with out thinking. Try getting her child care and a job!!
Before you pass such judgement on me as one who is doing harm without thinking I wish for you to come with me, if you have the courage or compassion. I give away half of my personal income for small businesses and food and clothes to my friends in Haiti. I have had double pneumonia in Haiti. I have been shot at many times. I want you to come and help me find a job for her and you will be blessed. It is far easier to sit on the couch and be a sideline critic.
You should read your statement over. It is full off what you are giving up. the risks you are taking and what it is costing you. nothing about the people you are helping and why you are helping them....again i state give her some self worth. "give a man fish he eats for a day. teach him to fish he eats every day". why note start a micro credit loan system for a small buiness? it has worked in other places around the world.
I am sorry that you feel the need to judge my motives to bad. I am responding to your comments that why I mention risks. You precipitated those comments. I have done a capital loan program for many and it was unsuccessful. If YOU really care about what you are saying then come with me to Cite Soleil and help me to do a loan program. I need help. You apprea to be ignorant and just a sideline critic to me.
Also, what you don't know is that a few compassionate individuals who support our orphanage pay 15 people in Haiti to run it. We believe very much in working. Instead of judging first, ask.
Ok, I ask you why the loan program was unsuccessful? Was it because of street gangs? Maybe you should try again in the country side away from the gangs. Also were the loans buiness related? If not why not? Did you form a cummunity bank? Did you research Microcredit and or Grameen Bank? So I am Asking. Questions for me?
To understand why you have to understand starving, hopeless situation in Haiti. Many reasons for this. We trusted people to pay the loans back and did not ask for collateral. I am a CPA, I understand financial things. They know I am a good man. I did everything myself. They did not pay the loans back and believed I would not be angry which I wasn't, just disappointed. There are many hungry people and they
Really! I just escorted a convoy of free fuel to the Jordain Hospital in Ramadi. This is a free hospital serving the poor. The week before one of my guys had his legs taken off!! by a EFP. So talk is cheap!! Not from were I am seating.
