Hi Isabelle - yes I guess it all went well. I stayed up late to check for any news of what happened at the event to make a reply here. A photo of them receiving their award and a short video of Benny and Frida being interviewed after the event eventually appeared at 3am on the fuse tv site. Hi Lenny yes you're probably right there - us oldies go back to the 50's and the time of pioneer rock and roll greats like Elvis and Bill Haley with "Rock Around The Clock" which is described as 'one of the most important records in rock and roll history;. He does seem to have a blind obsession with punk which was a disastrous non musical period, and anyone who could call the Sex Pistols great needs to get their hearing checked and their head examined!

I accept that point, the voting members can be bias. But you still got to have plenty of good songs that the general public knows to start with. That's a problem for heavy metal and bands like Kiss - its for a specialist audience only. Whereas bands like Abba are for everyone. But we all know Slade are the biggest UK rock group of the 70's and they should be in there - which confirms your point!

Its in the Slade wikipedia entry. Abba had the same trouble breaking into the US market in the 70's I remember, despite their worldwide following.
