Good unboxing but here are some tips:

DONT use music in unboxing/reviewing/hands-on videos. Especially not while there is singing in it! Too distracting and kind-off anoying. If you want music use a soundtrack very quitly and turn it up when you're not speaking for like 5 seconds or more

I'm deciding whether to get the Acer or not, but before I get the phone I've been reading lots of reviews. My question for you is: from the reviews I have read, it says that the battery heats up quickly, have you found that to be true? Would that be the only drawback in getting this phone? Or are there other problems?

1. Streaming is as fast as your internet connection, not really dependant on the phone.

2. Not that great, it doesn't have an LED flash.

Don't ever buy an acer their warranty repair center in Texas will make crap up to get as much money from you as possible, I recently sent out my Aspire One for repairs and they told me that moisture residue was found and wanted money from me for repairs, when i never spilled anything on it case 1-677z71b

How does the viewable display area compare to that of the iPhone 3G/S & if you had to compare, which would you say is easier to type on? I have had 4 Android phones & an iPhone 3G, and found that typing on the HTC Hero was unbearable, and the Magic - while better - was still difficult. However, the iPhone 3G is still the only non-QWERTY device that I have been able to type somewhat comfortably on. I had to give up the G1 first (too slow) & now have a Cliq (4th) b/c typing's just so much easier.

Acer *is* planning a range of new smartphones for 2010 and has fine tuned the new products in terms of specs, features and pricing to cover a bit more of the market a bit more effectively, but from what I've seen the number isn't 6 (I cannot say ;-) ), and Android isn't ubiquitous - WinMo lives on in some corners of the universe... Having said that, what's coming is pretty damned amazing. This is just the start...

I just listened to a Trentemøller album (downloaded from iTunes) with my Shure headphones on mine and it was incredibly clear. Volume went right up with plenty of bass. nemoPlayer is very slick too.

@gapplu Yes. It's a big statement (and a subjective one at best) but I'd happily swap my iPhone 3G (in fact I am). It's not perfect but then even the iPhone has pain points... Android Marketplace may well eventually overtake iTunes App store because of the sheer number of devices now out there so it'll only get better and richer. My only gripe is with Music. I've only had it 24 hours so it's early but finding music downloads on the phone (rather than via the PC) is proving difficult. That's it.

Yep it will handle google maps.

Navigation will not work currently, Google Maps with Navigation is only available in the US at the moment. There were some hacked versions that worked in the UK however these builds were only for the HTC Dream / Magic.

Will have to wait until Google give UK navigation, or US gets the Liquid.

I dont understand. Does the liquid have a capacitive screen? if yes why include a screen protector film with the package. I have the htc hero android device and the capacitive screen is awesome it is fingerprint / smudge resistant. I know that the hero will get the android 2.0/2.1 update and if the liquid won't get an update the phone sucks. other than that nice review and enjoy your new acer liquid phone :) !!!

Yup - to protect the screen just from finger marks and light scratches.

It does appear that the Liquid will get a 2.0x update, it also has a fast as hell processor, and bigger higher res screen than the Hero, think that its a little more future proof than the hero, thats already been set to replacement in the 2nd quarter of 2010, think that the HTC Legend is set to take its place.

Afraid I cant, its only from reports there were posted on major tech sites when the liquid was announced last month.

Its more than possible to get 2.0 on the device, the hardware exceeds the requirements, plenty of RAM and ROM, as well as more than enough CPU power.

If unsure then hold off until its confirmed.

At the end of the day it's like knowing what bios version your car uses (do you? does it make a difference to you?? do you care???). What's important is how the manufacturer tweaks it (aka the Acer Shell in this case) to get the best performance out of the base software (Donut). I think if you try it, you won't be disappointed at all. "Pretty impressed with Android so far" was the reviewer's immediate comment. As was mine and I own an iPhone...

I'd like to see that link too. Google is handling the release candidates a bit weird. You'll see different Android phones with different releases as a result but it's the shell that counts. I was a disbeliever too, but then I tried it and it's amazing. The Acer customization and Snapdragon processor makes 1.6 fly. Trust me, it's one hell of a phone.

From what ive seen (US only) Droid beats Iphone on Wifi, and the Iphone beat the droid on 3G. This could of been network delays that caused the difference.

1- what comes in the Software CD ?

2- is there any way or built-in software for tethering ? I really need to use it like 3G modem so i can access internet from my laptop... please check the CD and any program inside the device for that purpos!

Yes, Acer did indicate that they would ship a 2.0 ROM in 2010.

It would make sense for them to do so this being the first Android handset to market. It appears that it was just a question of timing, 2.0 was released as they were just starting to build their device!

Hardware supports multi-touch however the software doesnt at the moment.

If your in the modding your device then it maybe possible in the future to add support for multi touch in the liquid.

The Droid also doesnt do Multi-touch however its European cousin the Moto Milestone does, again im sure it wont be long before this is ported over to the Droid.

Music Photo Video can all be opened in Acer's custom nemoPlayer. It has a cool blue interface and good animations. I'll probably do a video about it soon.
