Fantastic high register! Clean attacks! Great job as a whole though I felt he could tone down a little more and his tone was a little too laserbeam-like.. but otherwise.. GREAT JOB! :)
Finally sombody who plays this piece on trumpet. GREA==T . I was asked to do this piece on flugel and my first reaction was (unaware of the ins&outs) NOT on trumpet??? I just listen to a few on flugel performers and they all sound more like a trumpet than a flugel anyway i.e. including the original. iT gets a lot more spirit like this. keep up the good work!
Just reading over some of the comments made. I'm always amazed, at how critical, some posters are, of video's that are shared here on YouTube. Can't anyone just sit back and enjoy what is shared by someone, who is obviously proud enough of a performace, to share it with others.
I play trumpet. I thought the solo performace was excellent. Does he approach it the way I would? No. So what. Artistic interpretation, right? I thought his tone was powerful and attacks clean. Nice high register too!
If I was the director, I would be shouting "TOO LOUD. TOO FUCKIN' LOUD!" at the beginning. It's got to start with some soul. Pretty good other than that. I do love the solo trumpet. (That is what this song is all about.) Regent, you should be makin' money somewhere. Band could be crisper, and again with the noisy snares! Couldn't he move that into an alcove somewhere?
Oh, you're quite welcome. I do believe you need to quiet down the drummer, particularly the snares, and the whole band in the beginning. What sort of gigs are you playing?
the music is awesome but its to much trumpet and to little of the rest of the band i also have to play this for the lenoir city high school marching band we ROCK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i dont kno why peopel think this is so great. the trumpets got a gd sound but if uve actually played this song (like me) u will realise that its a hell of alot of faster. listen to flugel player that took part in british youth solo finals for 2009 thats how it shud be played!
Yeah no doubt. I mean who could ever imagine playing a musical piece with a different tempo than the original arrangement. These guys should be shot for trying to add their own creativity to music.
Actually they're not playing it much slower than the original. Listen to the recording of Chuck Mangione leatherlips posted. Its about the same tempo. Maybe before you make criticisms you should check your sources
