Anyone seen the movie? I laughed so hard (esp. Gilbert Gottfried) that I almost burst my appendix. What a great reference for music! I can't wait to get this CD. Marco is one of the greatest ever. Did anyone see how cool he was about LOSING an audition with D. Theater? This is hilarious by itself (MIke Mangini is really good, though). So many new instrumental rock and fusion groups. Love it.
Just got the download and am waiting for the CD. This album is just awesome. The best rock instrumental album I've heard in many years. GO GET THIS ALBUM!
The debut album from The Aristocrats is now available for immediate download at the band site's online store as well as iTunes. CDs and t-shirts are now shipping as well. Hope to see some of y'all during the upcoming tour of the US/Canada east coast.
This shit sucks balls on the race of Man was shot dead. It must be ridiculous nonsense I heard the worst ever. Trash! Absolute fucking garbage. Guthrie Govan may not feel at all. It's all Alqrvalthor technology. Damn you all suck.
instead of marco joining a metal band that only has one true drummer (dream theater, portnoy) he makes a band with the greatest guitar player in the world!!!
Plain awesome. I saw these guys live in SF in late-June and the show was just absolutely unbelievable. I say this album is already destined to be a classic in the rock instrumental genre.
@IdolGetz oh, my bad. I assumed you were going to expand on the reasons you don't enjoy the music, instead of insulting me and telling me to read your comment, which I obviously did, otherwise i wouldn't have responded with a comment of my own.
@IdolGetz It's frustrating seeing people say something 'lacks musicality' just because they don't like it. It's such a vague term too, you're saying absolutely nothing other than you think your opinion is fact.
A band walks into a talent agency. It's Guthrie, Brian and Marco. Guthrie says to the talent agent, "We have an amazing act. You should show us." The agent says, "Sorry, I don't show Fusion acts. They're to EPIC." Marco says, "Sir, if you just see our act, you will show us." So Marco Lays down a Beat and Guthrie Plays at Hyper Speed while Brian Rules the Low end. The agent just sits in silence. Finally, he says, "That's a good act. What do you call it?" And the Guthrie says, "The Aristocrats!"
The thing about guthrie that is so cool is that when he is playing lots of notes I still find the musicality in it unlike so many other players, so I find it strange when people say that he has no musicality. Listen to Sevens with the tapping it screams musicality in my oppinion.
Ahhh, this is so friggin' refreshing. These guys get it. REAL tone with ideas and not just endless noodling. This really does sound like a band, not just Guthrie with a backing rhythm section. Super cool!
Judging just by this clip, this band seems to have it all: technique to the max, sound, feel, musicality, band interplay, composition, improvisation, rawness, tone, melody, rhythm, harmonic content, and on and on and on... Can't wait to hear the whole album and see them live. I'll be catching them in Chicago on Oct 9! Hip-hip hooray!!!
This is just awesome and exactly what the prog-fusion community has been waiting for. Cream of the 21st Century indeed! Really looking forward to this one. Things are stale out there and I believe this band will give a lot of us exactly what we need.
Good god, this material is fantastic, the recording and mixing is *perfection* (whichever instrument is your thing they're certainly defined, and the recording as a whole sounds great knowing that Mark Miemiec, who mixed both Beller's "Thanks In Advance" & "Wednesday Night Live!" CDs handled it), the band members are all at the top of their game... and it's a GREAT album cover to top it off. Can we ask for me?!? Well, better-located tour dates... ;-)
@guthriefan777 The last song is a remake of "See You Next Tuesday", an absolutely mind-blowing fusion tune off of Beller's first album "View". Given that the guitar on the original was played by Mike Keneally (and drums by the amazing Toss Panos), It's fairly safe to say GG has his work cut out for him, but from what's on the sample collage it sounds like he's got things under control... ;-)
@CWPtacek no. the mixing was done later in May i believe. from what i understood, T.J. Helmrich in Los Angeles was supposed to do the mixing, of which i was excited about since he is really good at his craft. but i guess somewhere in the process it was moved to somewhere in Nashville.
@fransisco444 thanks for the props on the guitar tone, Suhr Badger 30 w/Suhr 2x12 open back and Custom Audio 100 watt head w/Custom Audio 4x12 mic'd with CAD Audio T-7000 ribbons and a rare Universal Audio 2108 2 channel mic pre. Also quite a few pedals.
@CWPtacek - BB here. it was mixed by Mark Niemiec at Muggytone Studios in Nashville, TN. Mark also mixed my last two solo albums, Wednesday Night Live and Thanks In Advance. He's awesome. :-)
THE NEW ALBUM IS COMING OUT ON MY BIRTHDAY!!! And so is A Dramatic Turn of Events by Dream Theater and Echoes of The Fallen by Anterior. This a dream come true, 3 albums coming out on my birthday and ones that I have eagerly anticipated too. Thanks for choosing September 13th, this is going to be the most badass birthday ever :D
I think it would be even more awesome if they got a singer. But that's not to say that they aren't already FUCKING INTENSELY AMAZING. I would just like to see after their first album if they can start adding a bit of singing to their stuff. But whether they do or don't, I am definitely gonna start following them more closely. Especially since I already liked all of these guys individually :D
that would be planet10studios in Palatine, IL (Chicago suburb) in April 2011. recorded on Nuendo 5.1, Neve 8108 console, CAD Audio mics and Ultrasone headphones. p10studios com
@planet10 Sounds awesome. Where was it mixed? No way they got the mixing done in the TINY amount of time they were in Chicago, or did they? This stuff, albeit at YouTube lossy, sounds insane. Just insane. I hope it gets you guys a ton of business in the bizarre impossible music community. :)
This is going to be an incredible album. What talent on this record. Marco and Guthrie really stepped it up!!!! The recording sounds awesome. I wish I knew what studio this was done???? Just great!!!!
