@60inchwilly I did a full job on a set of 396 bbc heads 68 SS Camaro,it did have hi comp pistons,and a decent bottom end,had 280hp @ rear wheels,done heads,manifold,carb and headers,same bottom end,now has 385 rwhp.I spent 60 hours porting head/matching manifolds with valves,seats and guides all done come out at $3000...
great job Sir, in my opinion, too much polish in the Intake runner can cause fuel\air gasses to turn into fuel drips because of the mirror finish walls of the intake which the mixture can stick on to. This can cause loss in HP. Great info about the exhaust port pulse issue while meeting the headers <3
@mimarsinan3 thanks mate, yes dead right, smooth polished inlets are not good,I stick with the finish straight of the carbide burr then re beadblast heads, then only polish chambers and exhaust ports. Thanks for your feedback good on ya mate
@boolshmool thats right champion, but if he wants I can sorter polish it with my 6 inch 100 grit cylinder honing stones, why polish when he needs to be reamed lmfao
@TeDuaMalakie Yes and depending on the Head application and the gasket type will decree what sort of finish is required. coarser allows the gasket to seal but requires multi tensioning but newer generation of MonoTorgue gaskets do not hence the very fine finish.
A liberal coat of "Halomar" will give great sealing with recommended Torque settings for the gasket.
@freesexyew If you weren't such a cocksmoker and started your coment with respect I would of givin you time, but ya didn't,so kid get back on your scooter and go fuck yourself
@1972FordF150 Well its porting and polishing not just polishing. just polishing cleans the surface. but porting makes the surface smooth so it is easy to fuel to enter. it takes off any small imperfections and makes it easier on the engine and gives you a little more power but usually sets you up for more performance when you add aftermarket. but it also can give you more fuel economy
I was told porting heads on a street car would not really make that big of a difference unless your just trying to improve you et time at the race track ,a couple of seconds would be about it.is this true or not ?an maybe you could tell me if i would notice that big of a difference porting my heads i got the 1968-72 casting#3927186 290-370 64 CC Chambers 1.94/1.50 ,they'll be going on a 350 30 over ,flat tops ,holley contender intake an 650 carb please let me know THANKS GOOD VIDEO TOO**********
@skulledmonte84 G'day mate, thanks for the wrap, porting is not all about going big for all out performance for extra horsepower, flowing heads is the major factor of an engines volumetric fuel efficiency, the percentage of a engines input to output.Flow rates are important between inlet to exhaust flow rates, exhaust ports should flow a minimum of 60% of the inlets flow rate total. In all efficiency is improved, which matters considering how many miles that engine will do
Correct port and polish will give you vary little gain. Its only something you would want to preform wile building a engine for strip use. For street use the gain will have no noticable impact.
@andzlou G'day mate,I would charge round the 2 grand mark starting price, most places would want at least 750-1grand to service the pair, you would want 20 hours at least in porting, parts say stainless valves, springs, retainers+locks, cams ect..on top of labor.I fly the Ford Flag, but love all v8's....
@Aussieheads1 Thanks! I'm a freshman in college and Just started getting into cars a year ago. I've done bolt ons and such, now I'm looking into camming and doing all the internal work.
@evinsteven13 G'day mate, yeah I thought he was,we have them in our Aussie Ford Falcons,2 grand $2000,for all machining and porting, plus parts cams, valves springs etc
@litepunk -Ha don't think so mate,I've haven't ever watched a engine building video in all my life,I have said that for 30 years,it's the only way I can get apprentice's to remember the basic principle's of a 4 stroke engine, anything to do with sex they remember, soon as you say induction, compression, power and exhaust they don't get it,I have taught many apprenctice's,many have come first in the state in their field's.But no mate,I don't watch wank power build video's,did you like what you seen?
@defect0r1 anytime Brother, thanks for your time, feel free to ask anything,as long as it's not on life, have no good answers there lol, even something that I haven't done yet, open to suggestions, cheers bro
Thanks for the advise!!!

I would of thought having a wider hole on the inlet port than the intake manifold cause flow separation and less flow?? Same with the xhaust

You do know that the monaro has a Chevy corvette engine right? Why are you saying the parts are like Chevy when they are Chevy?

does polishing the combustion chambers reduce carbon build up? I know it helps with flow
