  • i love it thank you for the upload continue

  • good job guys

  • Soquan, when Saudia retired their 747SP from the commercial service to the Royal Flight?

    I love this amazing plane!

  • RR N3......GE ROCKS

  • I wonder if Boeing would ever bring back SP but with the new 747-8

  • it's heavy. I fly b747 of malaysia airlines.

  • its a very nice and informative interesting video. i liked it so much.

    i m sure u will be a pilot.

    are you?

and which country's plane is that u r flying?

  • Oh, those vertical tape instruments reminded me of the "venerable" C-141A & B models. Great airplane - and your video was extremely nice.

  • Nice video. When the aircraft commander called "flaps 5", he then said something else, and the first officer put the gear handle (down) into what looked liked a marked "detent" position - what was that for? Thanks, N-6395T

  • @mmichaeldonavon He moved the landing gear handle to the "off" position.

  • how do they call a taxi and take off right away? Meaning no stop at the beginning of the runway. Roll-start?

  • @barthoedemaker Sometimes the tower will just say "Cleared for takeoff" while the aircraft is taxiing onto the runway, meaning they can go without stopping.

  • MY PRECIOUS....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Boeing 747 Classic all series r the only Queen of the Skies.have flown this babe for 8 years and logged more than 3000hours . loved the video thanks for sharing.

  • Excellent video! Very well done! These types of videos are the ones in enjoy watching not those mislabeled SIM videos. Don't get me wrong, people are proud of their SIM work, but I think they should label their videos so most of us don't waste our time.

  • listen to the sound that Rolls Royce RB211 are making, woooooooooooooooooooow !

  • Is the pilot use the tiller to taxi?

  • nice

  • Why does the atc speaks France?

    quarante-six

  • @maxmalte99 Because French is one of the languages allowed for ATC use by the ICAO

  • thanks for the video, felt like i was in the cockpit.

  • thanks for the video

  • VERY NICE!

  • AIF SP ISN'T THAT AIRCRAFT OPERATE UNDER VIP OPERATION

  • the coolest what is the pilot adjusting on the panel to his right?

  • @pdogone1 This panel is the MCP (Mode Control Panel), this is used to select wich modes of the autopilot we want to use and how. In 8:58 he engages the autopilot C (he puts the switch into the command position), then he selects V/S in the climb mode selector and finally he's adjusting the vertical speed rate with the little wheel. I hope I've solved your doubt ;)

  • great video man....congrats...really loved it...

  • Thank you Soquan. Long life to Saudia's 747SP, one of my favourites aircraft with an amazing livery.

  • Very nice video Soquan. Is this aircraft HZ-AIF? Last year I saw one Saudia 747SP (HZ-AIF) flying over my house from Toronto (YYZ) to Barcelona (BCN).

  • @Adabu7 AIF, yep that's the one.

  • Is this video of the 747-200?

  • @formeliandialogue 747 SP

  • @soquan Thanks what's the difference between the 742 and the SP, and what does SP mean? Thanks in advance.

  • @formeliandialogue The SP is a shorter version of the 200. Was developed I think by the request of PAN AM if i'm not mistaken, I could be wrong. The reason was they needed and aircraft with greater range, which the SP has. The result was, it wen't longer, and had a greater thrust to weight ratio, giving it amazing performance. Honestly don't know what the SP stands for, maybe someone on here can help us with this?

  • @soquan

    SP stands for Special Performance

  • @soquan i think its not 747sp looks like 747-200 beacause look at the engines

  • @4500intelx I'm very sure this is an SP, I was on it :)

  • What the hell is AGWS at 5:43?

  • That wheel he is spinning at the end, that is the trim to level out the aircraft, right? Doesn't it move the elevators on the tail?

  • @shadesters no the will he is spinning at then end is the vertical speed selector, on the auto-pilot stack, it is to select at what rate of climb to do, usually they select around 1800 feet per minute

  • @MatisDaBest Oh ok, but can't it be used to level the aircraft if it's at 0 feet per minute?

  • @shadesters yes only if auto-pilot is on though...

  • No not necessarily, this is used to decide once descending/climbing at what rate of descent/climb you want to do, the auto-pilot automatically handles the trim.

  • @MatisDaBest Oh ok, because there is a scroll wheel for trim in flight simulators, and it looks just like that wheel. So, I thought they were the same thing... thanks for clarifying!

  • Amazing.....! No doubts, was very interesting to watch this. Thanks for sharing.

  • old plane

  • great video

  • is this Iran Air

  • @MrWscherr It's Saudi Arabian Royal Flight

  • what airline is this

  • @MrWscherr saudi arabian airline (SAUDIA)

  • GOOD VIDEO

  • It is very obvious that the captain is a seasoned, skilled aviator with calm cool hand. Great clip thank you.

  • Without a doubt your most interesting video :) Nice to have a cockpit view of an SP available on youtube. What a grand aircraft to fly!

  • was awesome! Sorry for the choppy response-

  • "front office" of an amazing aircraft. The ground shadow

  • Thanks for posting this wonderful look inside the

  • They're just praying and wishing that all goes well, in Arabic.

Saying " god is good " and " we start this in god's name "

  • from 6:42 can you hear my heart beating as the engine spools up?

  • Were they VIP passengers?

  • great video!!! i love 747sp!!

  • super

  • Great vid, dude! Really enjoyed it - what a fast takeoff!

  • they spoke Arabic for more than two seconds !

    I can tell

  • cn anyone explain this me the landing gear operation is simple but i dont understand why they put the lever in the middle position after takeoff can answer my question

  • what airline is this?

  • soquan am in luv with ur videos, r u a pilot ?

and what airlines u r working with

    thanks alot

  • david blaine in the copilot's seat

  • SP's don't seem to have a long take off run.

  • wat airline?

  • wow old school instrumentation!

  • how many languages the pilot must know

  • @BabyBBB01 English, as it is the international Flight Language everywhere. But of course, the more languages, the better. But English is the one any pilot has to know. :-)

  • @TheADLABerlin >>>>>>>>>>>OH OKAY I SEE, I THOUGHT A PILOT HAVE TO KNOW ALL THE LANGUAGES BEFORE HE OR SHE CAN BE A PIPLOT

  • AS BEING A PILOT MUST KNOW ALL THE LANGUAGES,

  • Thanks for posting video soquan.

  • Amazing Vid. Thanx :)

  • Best sound EVER! Thanks for the upload!

  • what is the flight engineer saying as each engine builds up power? it sounds like max something

  • @The22clowns He is saying max motoring i think, indicating max fan rotation has been reached before the pilot introduces fuel to the engine to start it. With all turbo prop and jet engines, the engines are revved up if you will either electrically or by pushing air through it before introducing fuel and literally lighting it up.

  • @soquan thanks

  • Not many RR engined SP's. Very cool.

  • this is an airplane

  • @bakvarnyu no...

  • Awesome video, that is real flying of a real aircraft. The F/O hadn't had too many flights on the plane, right?

  • superb aircraft... and much nicer on the eye than the bigger shorter haul 747's pity they dont make them anymore!

  • whats the difference between gear up and gear off?

  • @SM2K12 Gear up raises the gear and locks it, Gear off simply turns off the power to the motors/pumps that drive the gear.

  • Ah the sound @6:45 -- love it!

  • I know this crews , and i did her about this flight .because i used to work with this airlines, This is SAUDIA airlines , this flight been conduct from PARIS (CDG) to Rochester (RST) USA . on 14 Feb 2009. the flight operated by. Capt. Abdulelah Gholam , Copilot Badar Zaidan . Flight engineer Khalid Aljoof.

the best organize video, and very good calm and excellent crews, i ever seen

I really wished for them good luck .

    Capt . Ray Frost.

  • wow, good video on the old 747, very interesting

  • Thank you so much for posting!

  • it sounds like a 4 engine-armed cessna!

  • This is, by far, the best flight deck video I have ever seen. Excellent job! I wish more videos on here were this detailed.

  • What airline is this?

  • @yogiababua Saudi airlines

  • @yogiababua

    this Saudia Airlines

  • Comment removed

  • my last flight as FO was on this 747-sp HZ-AIF ,from CDG to LAX ,

the CA gave me the take off from CDG and landing in LAX . now i am a CA in MD-90.

THE BEST AIRPLANE EVER TO FLY .

PILOTS FLY 747'S - AIRBUS 380 AND OTHERS WILL FLY THE PILOTS.

  • Clims like a bat out of hell with the same powerplants !!

  • amazing... what a noisy bird at takeoff power set but I totally love it..

  • did the guy just gave us the fuck finger on 2:15 till 2:21 loooool

  • Fantastic video!!!

For those who speak french, i have one question :

It seems that a pilot tells to a controller that there are like 77 people on boad his airplane, 47 men, 30 women, 6 Children and one baby, does anybody knows why he tells that???

  • In fact, Swissport handling operations call Europ Airpost aircraft (callsign frenchpost)) in order to perform load and trimsheet i suppose. You can clearly hear the dispatcher tell the number of male, female children and infant . Or maybe they simply want to confirm the final figures to captain in order to close the doors and leave . So what we hear is the operation frequency, not the atc .

  • @julitodemars It's standard procedure when filing an IFR (Instrument Flight Rules) flight plan. You have to declare how many souls (i.e. people) are aboard & I believe for commercial flights you're required - when you declare how many souls aboard - to give a break down of specifically how many men, women, children & babies are aboard. This is done so that there is a record of the official tally of people (including flight crew) aboard at the time the plane is sealed for takeoff.

  • all pilots when they fly in a glass cockpit they allways be silent and stresst, but a plane like this one pilots have fun and say jokes.

    I don't know why !?

  • @fawii I think that pilots hate computers in airplanes

  • AWESOME

  • what airline??

  • Nice aircraft, nice video !

  • Yep in 1980 I went to Seattle for Boeing training and hours and hours in the Everett plant as they were beginning to build the -100's HZ-AIA to HZ-AIE. The last two 100's HZ-AIG and HZ-AIH arrived after the SP's AIF & AIJ. Great aircraft for us engineering & maintenance types. I had the opportunity to visit HZ-AID which was in Egyptair's hangar this year with a leaking hydraulic pipe. The aircraft was in amazing condition for such an old lady. It was a real fun to be onboard again.

  • Thanks for the posting I worked for SV and on both HZ-AIF & IJ when they were brand new from Seattle.

  • @101ypk Must have been really special to see them brand new, I think they will be phased out in the near future from special flights.

  • Does SV still have the SP? I worked SV check in at JFK years ago, always great crews on board! Beautiful Engine sound on this video of course!

  • Don't you just love that shadow at 7:34???Good proof that it's an SP.........LOL!!

  • @dutchy1176 ;)

  • Fantastic! Thanks for sharing :)

  • excellent video!!!

  • This is a Boeing 747 SP - No doubt about it !!!!!

  • That's a valuable video. Really nice quality and supeerb informaiton is given out if listened to carefully. The first to fly non-stop from New York to Tokyo.

  • Beautiful Video I think that's HZ-AIF. I could be wrong. Do regular passengers fly in the SP on Saudia?

  • @mohammeddavis It is. Saudia Arabian Airlines only operates one 747SP; I looked it up. I would also love to know if this is just a VIP aircraft or if regular passengers fly on it. Another awesome video, Soquan!!

  • 747-100 with RR RB-211 ??

    Are you allright ?

  • The 747-SP is just shorter than the 747-400 but its still a boeing but i prefer airbus there systems and cockpit in general is just easier to use in my opinion its layed out more simpler

  • @danielc365

You prefer the Airbus systems??? Do you even fly? Also what do you know about Airbus FCS + ADIRU's and their defined envelopes?

An A340 or other AirBUST could never rotate as quickly as this beauty. FYI it is a shorter version of a 747-200 (not a -400). It was a design request by Pan Am so they could fly SFO/LAX to Asia and AKL and SYD non-stop and JFK to NRT non-stop.

  • @onecunningfox, you know your stuff, i'm impressed! and agree with you. This beauty is very special to fly, and simply amazing.

  • @onecunningfox It was also requested by Iran Air and both PanAm and Iran Air were catered for bu boeing.

  • @bryanttie

If you are saying that Iran Air requested the 747SP from Boeing before it was built, that is not correct. The SP came about solely from a demand from Pan Am. Iran Air had nothing to do with it. South African was happy too, they could now fly London-JBurg around the Horn of Arica and Qantas couyld fly to Australia non-stop. The SP was the pure genius of Pan Am only.

  • Actually a 747-100...

  • @aaben123

If you want to really be technical - it is actually a shorter version of the 747-200, not -100.

  • @onecunningfox

i think also 747sp is build by Request from iran air For Flights from Tehran and JFK

    is im right?

  • @maithamq8

Yes Iran (which means Aryan in case you did not know) did also request the Special Performance 747SP. But is was mostly Pan Am who drove it and made the exact design changes and specifications. Iran Air was a "beneficiary" if you will.

  • @onecunningfox the idea for the 747SP came from a request by Pan Am for a 747 variant capable of carrying a full payload non-stop on its longest route between New York and Tokyo. Joined with Pan Am's request was Iran Air; their joint interest was for a high capacity airliner capable of covering Pan Am's New York-Middle Eastern routes and Iran Air's planned Tehran-New York Route which, when launched at the time, was the longest nonstop commercial flight in the world

    (wiki)

  • @maithamq8

Thanks for telling me what,, not only do I know, but was alos a part of. If you see my earlier comments I say the same as you.

Thanks for that copy and paste from Wikipedia. I should go in there and update it myself! (Do YOU REALLY think Boeing listened to Iran Airs request for a few planes vis-a-vis Pan Am who ordered the 1st 26 x 747's in a exclusive deal?) Come on man...

  • @onecunningfox

lol i guess you right and maybe iran air was also in this Request for those sp

anyway it was nice Discussion about this beauty

  • @danielc365

Well, Airbus is actually equally as complex, the only difference is that it's systems are merely "revised" from the it's baseline production, the A300. However, just because a cockpit has a few less panels in it doesn't mean they aren't equally as hard to fly. But this B747SP is first class aircraft...and in this particular nav-platform, they probably use IRS, not INS....

    Peace.

  • emm its not just smaller but smaller altogether the upper deck is smaller the wings have to be smaller and the engines are smaller

  • @ryanair737400

Actually, same engines, same upper deck and same wings - except that the flaps are one pice instead of extending (in laymans terms). matter of fact, the SP is the ONLY commercial plane that has wings that are lonegr than the fuselage! That is what allowed it to rotate (liftoff) so damn fast - like in this video.

  • Actually, the 747SP is not the only jet commercial plane that has larger wing span than the fuselage lenght, but one of the first. It's pretty common nowadays to build airliners like that, look at A318, A319, B737-600 an -700, B787, A380 and so on and on...

  • wow reall the best vid ever seen

  • Don't think I've ever seen such a clean and well-maintained cockpit - so why are the forward windows so filthy?!

  • GOOD VIDEO

  • I love the sound of the engines ^^

  • Another great video...

    EXCELLENT CLARITY

    GREAT AUDIO

    FUN CREW

GREAT OLD FASHIONED AND RARE 747

I think I know the flight engineer is his intialls K.J. ?

Hope to see more and more of your videos!

  • 747 sp shape looks retarded

i like the normal one more..

  • very nice video, favourited and 5*, for some reason it was on 1* though.. strange.....

  • I never get bored watching this particular vid.

    Keep them coming Cpt. ;)

  • Are you with Saudia royal flight?

  • Wonderfull movie, thx for sharing mate!!!

  • Wonderful! tnx! What camera do you use?

  • Very nice we want to see more ??? but a simple Question how did you get in the cockpit? :)

  • Being a pilot helps

  • nice you now i am thinking for a while to study aviation but i don't now there is some college here in KSA ?

  • There are two in Saudi, Rabegh wings in Jeddah, and the Saudi flight academy in thumama in riyadh, but this one will have its first class september 2010.

  • Nice video!!! :)

  • Awesome sound of the roaring engines at 6:43, wonderful.

  • Awesomee Video!

    Keep it up
