  • This is why I want to march Crown. They're just that amazing.

  • 00:19-00:23 I love that part, haha.

  • I wonder if I could get the sheet music for this awesomeness?

  • Oh what I would give to live in that house RIGHT THERE!!!!!!!!!!

  • @TheMort86 He is helping the mellophones stay focused on the fluidity of this part of the closer... Everything he does matches the mello line's music. Watch specifically at :25-:27 the subtle arm movements say it all... he knows every detail in the music.

  • Awesome!!!!! Haha a car driving by would be like, "What the heck?"

  • Does anyone have the sheet music still??

  • What is the name of this song I love it

  • Who the hell disliked this?

  • @mirro379 probably a Blue Devil fan

  • @BMWFan321 I like the way you think

  • @mirro379 This is called Slalom. I'm actually the contra player wearing the black jacket in the middle of this video. I marched at crown from 08-10. i just aged out this past summer!

  • I wish they practiced/ warmed up outside my house...

  • at 0:34, (guy in purple shorts in the middle) why did that guy just jerk to his left, LOL!

  • @Friday702Musicality ok watch only the feet and see how they move in different directions in between marking time. these are called "step-outs". he probably had a part in the show where he had to change direction like that. it helps to ingrain in one's mind the connection between drill and music. it helps a lot and they're fun to do too.

  • @Friday702Musicality that might be part of their sets or something for a final visual *shrugs*

  • Alright, I picked out "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", can someone fill me in on the rest of that section?

  • @19saxman91 It's a transition from Slalom (the beginning of the closer) and the end of the show (Promise of Living Reprise). It recaps all the music from the show (except puck) and ends with the build into Promise of Living. The percussion pick up with the Saint Michael reprise after the release, but this is a brass only sectional

  • @fourdblackbelt OH cool! Thanks!

  • Not gonna lie, I liked this show a lot more than 2010.

  • Yah Mark Whitfield. Pretty beast dude. Great baritone player too.

  • @WR2allstar That's actually Blake. Mark was doing percussion ensemble in the swamp that was our only field at that school.

  • I wonder how the body movements of the guy in the blue rain jacket relate at all to the music

  • @TheMort86

Had to comment on this: the body movements are those of THE arranger. He arranged a farily intricate chart for a marching unit; it has a number of elements, which could easily derail w/o a strong, underlying tempo. He's feeling each part as he listens to his work, which was very well done! You can see just a touch of accomplishment in his reaction at the end. May I suggest watching nothing but him while listing and feeling what he does. Cheers to Brass!!

  • @MaxGlass2

Don't remember commenting on the performance of the hornline or the quality of the arrangement, but oh well. I know klesch is a quality arranger, and obviously crown is a quality hornline, I just don't see how any of that has to do with my comment.

  • @MaxGlass2

That's not the arranger. That there is Evan VanDoren. He's one of our high brass techs.

By the way I marched Euphonium with Crown that year. My favorite season with Crown.

  • @TheMort86 alot of people do that actually. it looks funny but many conductors tend to do that. i think it just looks awkward for him bc he was casually walking around as well

  • @TheMort86 maxglass is silly. he is not the arranger, he was a tech (I think). He does that all the time, its just a quirk of his. he tries to represent music with his body, even in concert band. (He is my band director)

  • Good god, this was filmed really early season and sounds this good....I only can imagine how good it sounded on finals night. Beautiful.

  • Best Hornline in DCI

  • Wall of sound. An amazing wall of sound. Its moments like these that release my belief that DCI makes the best of people and their abilities.

  • Post of the Year goes to.... BrassKate

  • @Excapted oops i clicked the bad comment button instead of the good one sorry! and thanks! its so true :)

  • Those cars going by - they don't even know what they're missing.

  • Listen to that releasee! And Mellos at 0:07-0:13; ORGASMICC!

  • tell me about it, what's it about this year? i hope not about a BIG OLE D*** hahahahahahaha

  • well you're welcome, and this is tomahawk son, you're high five buddy fo sho

  • @trumpetdude17 fergie you're just weak

  • What was this recorded with? this is great

  • It was recorded with a Sony DSC-H7 camera. I love it because I can record videos and use the Optical zoom at the same time.

  • ECHOOOOooooooooo.....

  • You mean sprint?

  • was this in the show??

  • Sure was.

  • @Burgerbob22 this sounds amazing

  • Yup, near the end after Puck and all that.

  • Comment removed

  • omg!!! would you be able to send me that? if i gave you my email? i would you forever and ever and ever and ever!

  • btw when you guys sing this part of the show i got serious goosebumps :D

  • @ trumpetdude17. Lightrix13 marched cavies from 04-09. don't understand why hes being very unprofessional and talking very badly about other corps on you tube. unclassy right? hes just mad that you guys beat him and hes venting on youtube. my opinion cavies show wasss kinda boring. i watched you guys rehearse in Orlando and i was absolutely amazed. my favorite part is this video and the ending. but i cant figure out the trumpet part!! :((. lmao

  • poor neighbors.

  • you mean lucky neighbors?!

  • not hating

just telling it like it is

  • its not about the rings. its about who has the fan's hearts. And clearly crown and scv has the fan's hearts right now.

and if you think winning rings is all drum corps is about then you totally missed the point of drum corps.

I feel bad for you. you wasted your tour fees on a piece of metal that goes on your finger that nobody cares about. Ive spent and am spending my tour fees for the memories, performances, and other non-materialistic things.

    crown ftw! lol

  • its not about the rings but you also cant assume people that marched blue devils and such didnt have the great "memories, performances, and other non-materialistic things", they worked just as hard and had just as great experiences as everyone else... just happened to win a ring in the process haha. Also, if you think Crown members/staff only care about the "fan's hearts" and not about scores, you are pretty sorely mistaken...

  • I know BD's members work hard. I have friends who march there and they are passionate people. And I definitely know that Crown's staff and members care about the scores. ALL drum corps care about the scores in some way because its a competition. I didnt write what I wrote to a large number of people; I wrote that as a response to somebody who said he is better than everybody because he has rings.

trust me man, Im a nice guy :) haha

  • @manofdci EXACTLY, whoever says that drum corps is for championships and rings and shit is a dumbass snob! Im with you bro

  • @manofdci Someone who gets it. Good man.

  • Sorry they don't cheat and bend their legs

  • It's arrogant assholes like you who never get the time of day from the likes of Daniel Barenboim. When you attempt to pursue a professional career in music you will find yourself humbled and if you'd like to pick a day instead just let me know and I'd be more than happy to provide you with that day by having you audition in front of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra's Board of Directors. And do tell what Corps you're associated with? I'll ask your staff what they think of your comments.

  • I CAN'T WAIT to hear this hornline again in 2010...

  • jeeze man. i cant wait until i can march with them. (2 years) =(

  • Neither can I my good man. These darn braces...nothing I do can prevent my mouth from getting deep cuts when I play my mellophone.......=[

  • where is this in their show i dont remember ever seeing it in the show

  • This and Puck are hands down the two best parts of their show from 2009.

  • @guitarist30 Of any show from 09, at that

  • I envy the people who live in the surrounding houses...

  • OMG OMG OMG OMG

  • I love these guys.

  • Awesome release....the echo goes from 33 to 37 secs....

  • Beautiful. wow. I can't stop watching it. Wow

  • 0:25 is probably my favorite part of the show.

  • There's a reason these folks got top brass in finals. F*cking incredible....

  • their brass director was in star of indiana. someone said that he was the lead DM in like 92

  • His name is Matt Harloff. He was the Star of Indiana drum major in 93. He is also the band director for Avon High School (suburd of Indianapolis) who is the current BOA Grand National Champion.

  • ive talked to him once very nice guy.

but i didnt know that was in star that time i was talking to him. and i didnt know hes a high school band director. thats awesome

  • he was head drum major in 1993

  • Hey I marched Crown in 2007 so this isn't BS.

Matt Harloff was in Star of Indiana for the years of 90-93, and he was the drum major in 93, not 92. He played soprano and mellophone. His brother , Ben Harloff is a mellophone tech at Crown and you probably know him (if you don't already) as the bald soloist in Blast!

  • WOW, I can't wait to see what they have in store for the fans next~!!! 2010 Carolina Crown..I can't wait!!

  • i love them!

  • such a great moment in the show, quite amazing =D

  • I love the low and mid voice triplet 8th notes at 0:14. Crown's contra line is unmatched. I think that's their secret.........and Matt Harloff..

  • this is one of the coolest things ive ever heard in person. i did at orlando while standing the sidelines while they marched this i was absolutely amazed with the loudness i felt like i pistol whipped by the contras and trumpets. youtube has nothing compared to seeing it in real life.

  • Real estate values skyrocketing on that street.

  • LOL

  • LMMFAO!!!

So much for the Mortgage Meltdown.

  • How about this 2009 season huh? What a battle it was. As usual it came down to which judges were presiding over Finals. I can't wait for 2010

  • This is so rediculously amazing!

  • Fantastic. Kind of messed up to score somthing so beautiful, in my opinion. I appreciate the hard work of the members of the corps and their instructors and wish them luck with the rest of the tour.

  • they sound like g bugles like in the 80s. God wat a good sound

  • jaw-dropping. What a hornline they've produced this year...

  • And last years hornline was amazing too.

But Matt said at the first audition camp...

    He wants his Jim Ott.

  • it would be so amazing to just drive by a parking lot and see crown or anyone like that rehearsing

  • "What is that beautiful sound I hear across the street..."

Those people are soooo lucky. To have that brassline rehearse across my street would be amazing! Of course, they would probably hate it because mosquitos and sand gnats thrive where I live... but nonetheless, GO CROWN!!!

I'm predicting either 1st or 2nd at Finals this year (though I'm ;eaning to the former.... :D).

  • Buddy...

I live in Charleston, South Carolina.......

I've been where they rehearse and I auditioned this season (made first cut but money :(

They know ALL about mosquitoes and sand gnats... The Savannah Sand Gnats is a minor league baseball team close by, drive around SC and you'll see bumper stickers with a picture of a mosquito and the under it it'll say, "The South Carolina State Bird"

  • Nice. South Carolina State Bird...

Man, I hope you can afford Crown next year. I would be really mad if that happened to me (huge understatement!).

  • my favorite part has to be the mello part around 0:23 where they have that great moving line..

  • wow... i got to see one of the shows like sitting on the front sideline (maybe it was beverly?) and they sound amazing!

  • WHAT THE FOR-CRYING OUT LOUD!!!!!! They sounds freakin' incredible!!

  • that almost sounded like g-bugles, damn impressive.

  • GOOD GOD THAT'S FREAKIN' AWESOME! Now this sounds like an old school Drum Corp hornline

  • What an amazing brass sound crown gives off..its just...you cant explain how pure and rich those last chords are ^^ Perfect :)

  • I wonder what it's like living in that brick house?

  • i cant help but smile every time i watch this

  • What I wouldn't give to be in front of that horn line come August 1st! GOOSE-BUMPS JUST THINKING ABOUT IT!!!

  • Don't you hate it when every hornline instructor in front of the line dances around giving instruction at the same time? Kind of silly.

  • double wow

  • nice brass sound

  • Michael Klesch has set the bar with his writing this year... I'm gonna go ahead and call Crown and BD battlin it out for #1 spot this year...

  • they have to wear jackets because they keep giving themselves goosebumps lol

  • wow...

  • All i can say is that they're the chanps

  • its gunna b out of them and phantom for sure

  • ........exhale......

    AHHHHhhhhhhhhhhhhh
