this intro is so beautiful, i saw this show at the pepsi center in denver, right after the 9/11 tragedy. i was in the front. at one point they had all the names of the 9/11 victims projected behind them, and it was a mellow song, i turned around and looked at the 38 thousand fans, I'll never forget the look on peoples faces it gave me chills! scribbles denver

I love this version. Smooth start and then it hits you like a car crash. You can feel the energy. Saw them 2001 in Munich. I was totally surprised by the intro and this very powerful version of "The Fly". Definitely one of my favorites.

Interesting difference between the ZooTV version and the Elevation version, is that, the ZooTv version is about media overkill—technology has bombarded us, wowed us, and overwhelmed us. The Elevation version is dealing with the consequences of media overkill, which is, we've lost touch with each other, hence the "LOVE ME" message displayed during the chorus. Same song, same lyrics, but the message has evolved over time. BRILLIANT!!

Like this version, but it's a couple of steps too high for my taste. Clever editing makes this. On opening night in Ft. Lauderdale they played it and at the end Bono jumped in the crowd and ran all the way to back of the arena. Amazing stuff. Long live The Fly.

Dear lord - the ambiance, texture, and tone of Edge's guitar during the chorus (2:25 for example) has so much emotional and sonic depth that it just takes me to another planet- its like that feeling of looking out at the beauty of the glistening trees on a rainy day. The Edge can create more emotion with single notes and tones than most guitarists can achieve with their most complex solo's. In there, lies his true greatness as an artist and as a guitarist.

@fl4change Guitars usually don't make any ambient sound when you're strumming away or as Daniel Lanois would say playing "scrape guitar." Edge usually has a button he presses with his foot to trigger the background sounds or it is being played under the stage by Dallas Schoo or someone else. There are two different sounds being played there. The sound you're referring to is not from his guitar.

Side note: I am a huge fan and love the Edge!

@EWLGtoday um... of course, I know that Edge uses 'effects'. Its the choice of sounds and textures (with the effects) that I am talking about. When I refer to the guitar, I am referring to the sound that comes out of the amp. After all, edge's approach to the guitar is all about the final sound that comes out rather than the actual playing or how you get there.
