in my opinion linux ubuntu 9.10 buries both vista and seven into the ground.. let's say only for the graphics functions and the speed.. the absence of virus and it's also free.. tons of programs to download... only 1 thing: you have to know how to use a computer to use it well!! and sometimes it has some problems with wireless networks (only in some cases anyway)

There is a bit of a state with flash. Because it is a propitiatory plugin (and has different licenses than ubuntu), it is not included by default. You have to install the Adobe Flash Plugin (search for it in Applications -> Ubuntu Software Center). By default, ubuntu tries to use a free version of flash, gnash. However, this version does not work with most interactive flash content, so you must install the nonfree version. [of course, this is no different than on windows]

You mean, by controlling everything that consumers can do, and limiting them? The iPhone can only be developed for with a mac, can only have software installed on it that is sanctioned by apple, and cannot sync with any unsupported OS (that is, everything other than mac and windows). All it would take to support these oses is a draft communication protocol standard, so that open source developers could write software to implement it.

I personally use an Apple iMac. I do have Windows 7 on it as well, however, and am very pleased with what Microsoft has done with the Windows franchise. While I prefer OSX, one cannot deny that both companies have done incredible jobs innovating and driving the industry. There is no perfect computer, and likewise no perfect OS, but both Microsoft Windows and Macintosh OS are excellent pieces of software.
i think the real answer is, get a decent mac, and run windows on it, that way, you get the best of both worlds without hacking any os's and it ends the whole bloody mac/pc shit

in my opinion linux ubuntu 9.10 buries both vista and seven into the ground.. let's say only for the graphics functions and the speed.. the absence of virus and it's also free.. tons of programs to download... only 1 thing: you have to know how to use a computer to use it well!! and sometimes it has some problems with wireless networks (only in some cases anyway)

Btw, there are no viruses for macs because Mac has only like 10% of the computer market, so it's more sensible for someone to program a virus for a PC because more people use them. Also, it's not the "true" history of microsoft because they only include the downfalls. Microsoft and Mac have both had ups and downs, this video only showcases the downs of Microsoft's history.

Apple safari has more holes than a sponge, but yet none of them are exploited because of it's small user base. Compared to mac, windows is amazing. If you are going to loose compatibility with windows programs by using a mac, you might as well just go all the way to Ubuntu.

I am using Ubuntu 9.10.
There is a bit of a state with flash. Because it is a propitiatory plugin (and has different licenses than ubuntu), it is not included by default. You have to install the Adobe Flash Plugin (search for it in Applications -> Ubuntu Software Center). By default, ubuntu tries to use a free version of flash, gnash. However, this version does not work with most interactive flash content, so you must install the nonfree version. [of course, this is no different than on windows]

You mean, by controlling everything that consumers can do, and limiting them? The iPhone can only be developed for with a mac, can only have software installed on it that is sanctioned by apple, and cannot sync with any unsupported OS (that is, everything other than mac and windows). All it would take to support these oses is a draft communication protocol standard, so that open source developers could write software to implement it.
Up with freedom, down with apple. You cannot have both.

I personally use an Apple iMac. I do have Windows 7 on it as well, however, and am very pleased with what Microsoft has done with the Windows franchise. While I prefer OSX, one cannot deny that both companies have done incredible jobs innovating and driving the industry. There is no perfect computer, and likewise no perfect OS, but both Microsoft Windows and Macintosh OS are excellent pieces of software.
