  • If anyone was wondering, he starts playing at 1:18

  • Fantastic!!!!

  • He looks so happy

  • very nice!

  • Thumbs of if you're a fellow mandolin player.

  • @fretman411 no.

  • He shoulda done that bit off of Maggie May.

  • Very nice! What a pleasure to see and hear such fun stuff on the mandolin!

  • hahaha mr wake frankfield

  • With some fingerpickin thrown in, just ridiculous- I love Frank!

  • Why did Frank put tape on the Gibson name? Is it because of Bill Monroe curving the Gibson name off his mandolin, because Gibson was being assholes. When Gibson redused to fix Bill Monroes' mandolin.

  • refused to

  • i'm pretty sure Monroe was pissed off because they DID do repairs on his Gibson, and he never asked them to... he carved out the inlay with his pocket knife! at least that's how i remember it. still, makes you wonder why Frank did it!

  • All ok i see they did repairs, and Monroe did not ok it.

  • Shows you how smart Gibson really are. Piss off the man, Bill Monroe who makes you all your money. In your mandolin line.

  • Franky, still playing by his own rules... I wonder what it sounds like to be in his head.

Wish I could've hung with this guy when he was in his 20's and 30's. What a wild-man.

    Thanks, Frank.

  • Still ticked at (at least as of the date of this show) Gibson I guess.........still has the tape over the Gibson name on his axe.

  • The beginning of his solo somehow sounds Greek doesn't it? Very nice one, though.

  • Was he introduced as Wank Frankfield?

  • I'm pretty sure he did.

  • I wish Frank would put out an album with all these compositions he's put together over the years. It's such an original approach to the instrument in this day and age.

  • Well the unwritten rule is that if you say a Key and nothing after such as "D" it will be infered as a major key.

  • @ledsabbath165 Wow 2 years ago and I'm commenting now! He did this song as a solo piece on an album he did with the band Country Cooking in 1972. It's called Jesus loves a mandolin player #2 for some reason. On the record it's as cleanly done as could be. It blew me away than and still does.......... There's also a Jesus loves a mandolin player #1 on the same album. A little shorter in length, but equally delightful..........

  • Yeah, it's D Major.

  • He is amazing! Love this stuff! I grew up in Owensboro but haven't lived there in over 20 years.I sure miss the awesome bluegrass. Thanks for sharing it with me!

  • Wow that's awesome

  • he wrote that? That's great.

  • They don't play em like that anymore! Enjoy him while we can. Brill.

  • el pelotudo ese no tiene otro lugar para sacar la foto?

  • nice job frank

  • Frank, yer such a nut-bar. I love the F#/A tuning on the G-string. And the green tape over the Gibson inlay....
