  • I dont know why i was thinking of David Miscavige when watching this video???lol

  • Governor Schwarzenegger please give law enforcement another budget increase! I want to work for the state!!

  • This isnt true regarding white. Its not about race to begin with. Its about applying yourself, i work out of central div. If you go over there it is very diverse. Cut the crap and excuses and go take the test guys. Its a brotherhood.

  • @hawwk11 ya its brotherhood of getting paid to much.

  • all the people i saw where white. they do discriminate but its done quietly. 100k for writing tickets when people are losing jobs. fuck u

  • Discriminate my ass lol. Walk in to a recruiting office jack off. Tell you what tell everyone in California to stop breaking laws and they wont be paid so much!

  • hey fucker in florida highway patrol they start at 33k. whether people break the laws or not there are plenty of people who want to be chp.

  • hey did you take the written test yet?

  • why are most chp officers white? Their pay is outrageous compared to there state patrol organizations. They also seem to discriminate in favor of younger candidates.

  • naw they got minorites in chp...i think most people that arent white are discouraged to apply.

  • You are very wrong. I was in the hiring process till I decided I wanted to go to law school instead. There is diversity in the CHP. My recruiter was black his name is officer Williams of the southern division. I'm sure he has nothing against minorities he has it equally against everyone! lol. They only favor the ones who can pass their test, show leadership qualities and have high morals. If you want your questions answered go in to your local recruiting office.

  • yes they also look at credit and it seems they arbitrarily reject applicants they dont like. of course older applicants and minorities seem to be on the chopping block

  • I would encourage the commissioner to run that obstacle course. Lead by example or not at all.

  • Hence his title/rank, he doesn't need to run the course. When his title/rank read officer your statement would hold water. Lastly hes not commissioner anymore.

  • Are they using the S&w 669 9mm? Not a very good gun. We had those and got rid of 'em. Why not a Baretta or the Glock in 40 cal?

  • They do use a 40 cal, and its a S & W. They use it because its reliable and predictable. Something you need when trying to prove evidence when firing. Just in case there is an investigation.

  • ALSO, I went to military school CHP is The Navy Seals of Police officer, there training is that of someone who was trying out for Navy seals...They get paid 3-4K a month just for being in the academy, my Husbands joing(0:

  • drop out rate is 70%

  • wheres Ponch and John?

  • Lol

  • whats the wash out rate for CHP acadamy?

  • That was to elsamuraiguapo.

  • the fact is sheriffs deps. in marin county came from the chp academy for the training. hardcore training! chp is hard work. sheriffs are good but not as great.

  • Can't Handle patrol!

Sheriff's are more hardcore and old school, from the jails to the streets.

You don't fuck with the Sheriff's.

  • no they are not. have you even seen the show the academy? they're weak!!! the range staff are punks. yeah lets not stress them out, cuz we all know firing a gun at someone isn't stressful. the sheriff's training is a joke.

  • You mean Sheriff's Deputies.

  • It is ridiculous to argue which agency is "better." They all do their part in different ways, no way more respectable than another. Stop acting like children comparing action heroes.

  • I WANNA LIVE A LIFE OF DANGER!!!

  • I WANNA BE A HIGHWAY RANGER!!!

  • yes they do kick ass!!!

  • Standy if your lucky enough to make it to the CHP academy. Its not candyland, you will work your butts off. its not for the lame and lazy.....

  • it's better to work for the San Jose Police department, where their starting salary is $72,000. Remember, once you're a sworn police officer of any police department in California, you have police powers anywhere in the State of California

  • that might be true but i bet more people will know who the chp is and not know where the f__k san jose is. but san jose pd don't have jurisdiction every where in cali. chp has it on the freeways and streets.

  • CHP usually assists local law enforcement agencies when resources for one department is not available. For example, in the North Hollywood Shootout, LAPD and LASD required CHP assistance.

  • Well yes, because CHP is also the California State Police since 1995 I believe.

  • Incorrect. Only LAPD responded.

  • Actually, like jasonsli2 said: If you're a peace officer in the state of california, you have jurisdiction anywhere in the state. Who cares if the agency is well known or not? Besides in city police you don't have to worry about getting transferred if you get promoted.

  • Actually you are wrong. There are only two agencies in California that have jurisdiction over the state, CHP and Game Wardens, all other agencies have at most County jurisdiction. Now as a law Enforcement officer in this state you can enforce the law any where at any time.... However you can be challenged by the agency which has jurisdiction in that area. Now grow

  • Well that's what I ment, a Peace officer has powers of arrest anywhere in the state. The CHP has "specific jurisdiction" on all CA freeways/roads/state property...but that doesn't mean they can't go into downtown LA and write you a parking ticket...and no, the local police could not challenge you. I know the Sgt. that is in charge of the National City Police SWAT team and he tells me they serve warrants in other jurisdictions all the time w/o even telling the other agencies.

  • Yes, but that's SWAT, and not every city has to have a SWAT team. Quite often counties cooperate, and I doubt that a SWAT team would go onto another SWAT team's jurisdiction WITHOUT telling them. As a peace officer, you can enforce basic federal laws anywhere in the US, and as a citizen, you can detain someone committing a crime in your presence (until a peace officer arrives).

  • It's gonna be tough to be a CHP officer. You'll have to do 50 pushups, 50 situps, and four pullups with palms facing outward.

  • That's it?

  • plus 26 weeks of intense training to be a CHP officer

  • I understand that. I just expected physical requirements to be a little more difficult... I'm a cadet in Civil Air Patrol and I've faced higher physical requirements on a PFT. *shrug*

  • I'm a cadet in the Civil Air Patrol and the Civil Air Patrol is Air Force Auxiliary while the CHP Academy is paramilitary. I expect the CHP's PT to be some-what equal or a bit harder. Also consider the CAP has minors who may not hold up mentally or emotionally to the 26 weeks a CHP cadet goes through. I saw the youtube video on the cadets having to run 4 and a half miles straight.

  • Bout damn time!

  • Thanks for this video. I'm planning on applying for the CHP Dispatcher.

  • CHP kicks ass!
