Linda Scott is the most underrated girl singer in the 60s. In my opinion 60s is the real golden era of America - girls had "class" and "grace"... Lesley Gore, Linda Scott, Bev Bivens, Jackie de Shannon...that's the real American Dream, that's real middle-class, not the American Dream and middle-class the politicans are talking about today...
oh its been years since ive heard this song i finally heard it last night on the way home from work use to play this on an eight track in my dads 55 chevy brings back memories
She was "my girl" in 1961-62 when I was a senior in high school. I had such a crush on her, but would never see her in person. Too bad todays "artist" have to scream and yell instead of singing.
Back in 1961 it seemed as if every girl between the ages of 9-16 was singing along with this beloved tune. Kids really got into the Dum-Da-Dum Da-Da-Da chorus. It was a fun little song.
This one was frequently played in the cars back in the days when the parents wished you where at home at 7 ,,,,,,or earlier,,,, good song by a beautiful girl,,,,
@anthanyD1 he sampled the vocals.. its different.. every artist does it.. eminem uses dido, aerosmith, and haddaway in his songs... jay z used alphaville.. want some old school? ice cube and run dmc both sampled countless number of beats
@conewells She was just great. I think she came in at the tail end of this type pop music. If she had started recording 5 years earlier she may have been up there with Connie Francis and Brenda Lee.
@pewploid I guess it would be called pop rock. Sometimes it gets included with "girl groups r&b" even though she is a single act she does have back up singers. Some similar artist would be Sue Thompson, Shelley Fabares, Patty Duke, Leslie Gore...
wonderful song. lovely young voice. strong but not overpowering. I also love her other big hit "dont bet money honey" . john1948eightB has a very good sight. I tune in often.
WOW! Just LOVE LOVE LOVE love this song!!! It needs to be revived again. N pls NO stupid remixes!!!! What a beauty the singer is. Crapp! Wish she was in my time!! Greatest song ever...once u hear it...it stays with u forever
A very talented and good-looking artist. I was about 15 when she brought this song out. I spent nights at my window staring at the star-spangled sky, thinking of the song. I must've played out numerous love scenes with her in my imagination then. And funnily enough... I can tell this now without getting terribly embarrassed. Thanks again Linda .... for everything.
@HoratioNel Hey Horatio Nelson. Good for you about not getting embarrassed any longer. For me it was Natalie Wood. I my heart (what's left of it) she still is number one! God, we're getting old.
I feel that this song 's definitely under rated, it's not fair and strictly, this splendid perfect song should' ve deserve better ratings. Let everybody know that what's actually the true and real music (instead of calling today's music a "MUSIC"). Perhaps youngsters should've learn how to get use and enjoy to the oldies. =>..

You call know that this song is a cover from an old Broadway Musical. They changed the words a bit but it's still great song.

We can thank DAVID LYNCH for using this catchy song in MULHOLLAND DRIVE. "This is the girl." And what a cute young lady, Linda Scott.
