Alex, you are correct about the pavement/sidewalk riding, just be cautious with pedestrians. But in the downtown core it is supposed to be illegal, but I have seen even the police mount the pavement for blocks-on-end, go figure!!! ; > ]
What is funny, is watching this now, all of the construction is finished on the Broadway Bridge.
Lot's of traffic at the beginning! I thought people would have found another way if they knew there was construction!
We have about 4 or 5 lift bridges that go over the Welland Canal, and you see quite often vehicles do what all they cyclists did in Portland...Go to the next bridge.
Bit more difficult for cyclists to do it here as the distances are quite far.
you should have jumped across as it was going up like in the movies.
