I think age of empires II was the most complicated of the games, what with the whole unit formations and what-not. I personally think age of empires III is the best gameplay wise, not to mention the Graphics.

also there's now a no - gear mode, so it's no longer pay to win (no1 ever considered it that way anyway, it was more like grind to win, for the best gear). Anyway that's no longer a problem
