  • I'm going to play this in two days at Honor Band! It sounds fun. Great job!

  • The honors band played it and I really liked it. We watched it again the next day!!

  • i actually got to meet Dr.Gilroy it was awesome hes an ouststanding musician he even came to our section and helped us out it was so cool.

  • i loved playing this song for honor band.

  • I'm sorry but ur percussion failed the band iam in can do tht song 100 times better

  • @marinesniper1361 lol that's nice!

  • good job! we are playing that same song right now for our spring concert. our band got straight 1's and surperior for UIL. neways... somethings could be fix such as clarinets. i am a clarinet player myself so make sure not a single person is dragging on those eight notes. remember: light tongue. dont slap your tongue to ur reed. can be tricky but its possible. and be louder. could barely hear that part at all. percussion.....shhhh....i hear u guys the most out of the whole band. bt overall. good

  • clarinet is hard on this piece with the constant repetion. yall did good

  • hey Guys played this for my second year on flute (NOT AN EASY SONG!) for concert band you guys did really well

  • That guy on the block thing(forgot the instrument's name) was terrible in my opinion. He was pounding on it ike know one would care that it sounded terrible. I also hear no dynamics. Just my opinion. Otherwise it was decent.

  • i play this and im in a 6th grade band

  • Tenor Sax Pwns in this

  • i was in this band we were EPICC

  • Epic! Love this piece of music! And At Water's Edge, another gary gilroy piece which our band played at a concert :)

  • My band gets to premeire his new song " Joie De Vivre" that was inspired by this song

  • see our band is playing this song... we have 13 people... i play drums and i got to do 7 things.... this band piece thats on the video is about 140 beats a min... we do ours 180 ... so its alot faster.... and we got a lot more dynamics... but i love it

  • @frost0649 this probly would have been a lot better if we had more time but we put this together in 1 and a half days for a middle school honor band so thats why its not faster

  • This was the only decent song we had ever played in my band.

I guess maybe it's because it's the only one the PIC ever picked out that had a flute part that wasn't totally boring.

  • that is so cool :D I love the flute part.

French Horns have a really cool part.

  • Oustanding Low brass section. Same with the rest of the band too.

  • This was like my favorite song but everyone else in my band hated it lol.

I play 1st flute to it... It wasn't that hard to learn at all.

  • i play 3rd seat clarinet and this song is a real challenge. my favorite part is at measure 60. its really pretty. we're not very good at it yet ;)

  • I LOVE this song....

I played orchestra bells on this

since I was the only one who COULD...

  • I played this on the Bass Clarinet at band camp. :D Sounds good guys, is there anyway you guys still have the sheet music...? :/

  • i remember this song...i loved how it sounded, but i HATED playing it XD

  • agh, in my band we played this, I'm 4th chair flute XD; the flute part took a long time to practice and get right, but like, once you've got it you've got it

  • i love this song

the notes are to high on the trombone though it hurts my lips

  • GMEA district 4 honor band played this song andi might add that we played it better.

  • our junior high band is playing this song for forum festival. cool song

  • I just played this for Honour Band. You guys did very well on this.

  • Thanks!

  • doing this song in dekalb honor band!

  • i played this song! i was 1st chair french horn

  • nice! go french horns! i am too lol

  • Yeah. I was 3rd chair at the GMEA District 4 Honor Band and we played this

  • i'm playing that song now in band and i'm first chair trumpet.

  • The name of this piece actually comes from the way Dr. Eric Hammer, director of bands at University of the Pacific, signs all of his letters. Instead of a "Sincerely" or whatever, he'd write "Onward!".

Just thought I'd toss that tidbit of info out there.

  • Lol, that's interesting. =D

  • im doing this song in honor band! =D which is being directed by dr.eric hammer :D

nice jobbb, i love this song lolz!

  • i played that song 2 years ago in my band

  • i play tumpet and i love playin' around with the mutes but i had 3rd prt:]

  • nice!!!!

  • skill it we were a middle school honor band...

  • wth!!!!! a honors band just murded a song i played in freshman band.....we playd it a hell of alot faster sounds horibul this slow

  • i love this song...even though the flute part's a pain in the ass to play XD

  • Clairinet is a HELL of a lot worse, TRUST ME!

  • no need to tell me-i sat next to them, and i could tell that they were going through hell

  • hehehe i play clairinet (may God have mercy on us) and my tongue DIED like 5 times, and my director wants to play it at 172...(yipes!)

  • 172?? oh dead god...

  • yeah i know

  • jw, what chair were you? i play clarinet too and we're doing this song in honor band:)

  • I did the flute 2 I almost died! It was horrible!

  • me too

  • its the long string of a's or b's on the clarinet thats the murderer...it hurts so much, but if you get into the meaning of the song, its pretty...noble and all that lord of the rings crap.

  • im an 8th grade tuba player and my band and i went to a comp. with that and some other song called starship-john o'reilly.we got all 1's so yea i know it sounds like im bragging so ill stop now,but my point is my band directors said this is a high school piece and well if thats true then yall did pretty well :)there was a bit of rushing with the clarinets and the trumpets messed up a few high notes a little and the brass got kinda quiet a little before the coda but other than that it was great!

  • Yeah we are playing that in my schools honor band this year. I am in 7th grade and have only played the oboe for 1 1/2 years so its quite challenging.

  • i played this at the honor band at my school. Great song!

  • nice! Where did you go?

  • i didn't go anywhere sucks. All the schools came over.

  • this is cool kyle good job

  • Thanks!

  • Onward to where? =[

  • You know... I'm not sure...

  • Obviously a group of exceptionally talented kids. This is VERY well done! Not many adult bands could do it any better.

    Moosie

  • Thanks =D This was my grandmother's favorite song, as well as my mom.
