noob question: having trouble solving top layer (explained around 3:50). i'm trying to get my cross, as I would do on a 3x3, but isn't working. explain to me simply please?
@guillermija If you look at Cube4you site and take a look at this cube you'll notice that they communicate to the buyers that the center caps will not be send.
If it was proportionate to a 3x3x3, then it would be fully functional. But since its not, and it's made like a normal cube, it's not fully functional. The sandwiched layers are functional some times because their next to a regular square piece. you actually have to orientate the pieces to make them functional, and you shouldn't have to do that.

Uhm.. I've never though about a method like this one but.. Isn't actually faster and (maybe) easier to do Cross like you actually do, then do the F2L like a normal rubik's cube and then do immediatly the PLL on the 4th layer like a 3x3? Then for the last 2 layers (1st and 5th) you just do the orientation like 5x5 centers and permutation with the 3x3x4 algorithms..
now you have the first L solved and the middle witch is the 3rd L solved. the 2nd L leave alone and look at the last top L. use olls and plls to solve top. 3x3x3 is done, now u have 2nd and 4th left. use 3x3x4 to solve last two
i like it. I have a pretty good way to solve it. I first solve the 3x3x3. Which trust me works.cross, don't look at the 2nd L, just solve the cross on D. do f2l for the 4 slots forgetting about 2ndL,only slot the D and middle with f2l no the 2nd L from the bottom

If you know how to solve the 2x3x3 and the original 3x3x3, then you have all the knowledge required to solve the 3x3x5 or 3x3xanything.

the slot corners step uses the same alg as the second step in solving the 3x3x4 or tower cube, neat.

I think I prefer Roux 3x3 stage then solve the inside layers...

@MrGalvan54 They easily drop... I put my cube in my rucksack they are not that ell attached I am afraid. Yours may have dropped during shipping
