  • I tried this when I very first started out on wire wrapping. You have inspired me to give it another try. Thank you for your video.

  • @eileenfb1948 Hi Eileen.. aaah that is lovely to hear.... Thank You.. yes this little technique is pretty neat and can be used in so many ways in just one creation.. have fun and thank you for your feedback..... xxx

  • @tnannfrombristol lol... :) Hey there..... That would make such an awesome tutorial..... I am so adding this to the list. :)

  • @LorraineDowdle so cant wait !!!!! yeaaaaa

  • Thank you so much Loraine! You have miss so simple for me. You are definitely me new hero!!!!

  • @Choachkarlamom TYPE O! * made*

  • @Choachkarlamom Hi and welcome.... aaaw that is awesome to hear! Enjoy and happy creating.. it is also so nice to learn a neat extra little technique.. especially one so simple that can take you so far.. xx

  • THANK YOU! I have tried so many ways and they have all been wrong. Do you have a video of pendant pearl with wire on end?

  • @nosyme88 Hi there... I don't have a video on that no. However you can do the same with this by technique by changing just one aspect. use a longer piece of wire, start the one spiral about 10cm down the wire and continue as normal... when you have done the whole tutorial, and your pearl is in place you use the long piece left to create an eyepin loop for your chain.. i hope this makes sense... xxx :)

  • Beautiful! Simple but elegant, I love it! Thank you so much!

  • @bfmvdemonx You so welcome.. thank you for your feedback x:) Enjoy and create many ... they make such awesome beads.

  • I got some new wire and jewelry material. I actually did this over again with a bead, and it turned out great! But the marbles are giving me trouble because aren't drilled xD

  • Thanks so much! I've just started beading and wire work recently and this is such a great skill to have!

  • @McCeejay Gosh, yes this technique can offer you so much. even without the bead in the middle it looks gorgeous as an accent or make the cage really small and use it has a spacer etc ... You are going to have so much fun with this.. Thank you for your lovely comment, enjoy and happy creating.. xx LD

  • Wow, I thought it would be much much more complicated. Thank you so much for sharing.

  • @dontsy Hey there... ) You are so welcome.. Thank you for your feedback.. :) LD

  • This is really great Lorraine, many thanks! I'm off now to check out your other tutorials!

  • @rosebud2004 Thank You... it is such a neat little technique... with a huge satisfying result. :) :) Glad you can use it... Have a great week ahead... :-) LD.

  • I think I made my spirals too small or something...the marble just doesn't want to stay in the cage :/ maybe it's the wire i used.

  • @FelltheBlackWolf Once the marble is in the cage, you can manipulate the wire as it is already curved. So with both hands around the two ends.. twist and move/manipulate the wire so that the marble sits snugly. if you use a thinner or thicker gauge it should not be a problem. if the guage is thicker the wire however needs to be shorter otherwise the spirals overpower the bead so too speak regarding design .. What guage are you using? I hope this helps... please try again & let me know xx LD

  • @LorraineDowdle I'm not really sure, it's just some thin black wire I found in my mom's sewing room. I am trying to learn how to make wire-wrapped marbles so that I can make some pendants for my friends for Christmas, but I am having a lot of trouble. Any more tips?

  • @FelltheBlackWolf Hi :) Aaaw,,, I don't want you to have trouble... How did you get on in the last 3 weeks? I am so sorry for taking so long to get back to you. really really soft wire will be hard to manage when to thin.. have you managed to get to a craft shop and purchase a craft wire... Artistic wire ltd has a great range and they are all nickel free. This technique will work with 22g, 20g, 18g and so on... 24 is way to thin and 22g is boarding on tricky... 18g is a great all round thickness

  • @LorraineDowdle Haha, it's okay. I haven't tried to make anything lately. I asked for some better wire for Christmas, so hopefully I'll get some xD Then I should be able to do this. But for now I found these cool little silver plates that have a hole on each side, and i super-glued them to the top of a marble and then used some loops to connect it to a chain. It pretty much looks like a christmas bulb xD Thanks for the help, I will refer back to this video when i get new wire.

  • @FelltheBlackWolf Lol.... My Christmas list is full of Craft things too. :) I like your creative idea re your marbles... sounds awesome... p.s. I hope Santa drops you a truck load of crafty things... have a great Christmas. xx

  • @LorraineDowdle Thanks xD Hope you have a nice Christmas too :)

  • Send me the link???

  • @rekharajkumar7286 I added a link in under the description of the video:) :) Hope you can view it. :)

  • excellent!

  • @orbstats :) :) Thank You. :)

  • Hi,

I'm jus a beginner in jewellery making. I feel u shud show me doin it. It wil be very helpful

  • @rekharajkumar7286 Hi Thank you for your comment. I have another video that demonstrates me working and I have a wire wrapped heart tutorial for sale that has many techniques you can try. Also give me an indication of what you would like to see :) I look forward to hearing from you. :)LD

  • I to am so thank-ful for this as I to am a beginner. i am try to fracture marbles and have managed to do a few. How would I wrap them as there is no hole to put a headpin through. Please keep on making videos . Eileen

  • @jakeneileen Hi Eileen.. Thank you for your post. You could neatly bend back the ends as they are already looped and connect a sturdy jumpring to that linking each one to created a bracelet or necklace. Feel free to email me at Lorraine@dowdle.co.nz and I can help you further. xxLD

  • Thanks for this.

  • @optine Hey there.. you most welcome. :)

  • Dear Lorraine, Thank you so much for making this video tutorial, and for making it free. I make lampwork beads and this technique will be so useful to me.

    Gail

  • @gaildavis100 Hi Gail. Thank you for your post. Wire creations and Lampwork.... a breathtaking combination.. both so unique and special to create. Oh I am thrilled you can use it. It is a neat little technique with endless possibilities. You are so welcome.. xx

  • OMG'sh - I love you! I've been looking for a tutorial on this for over a year now. I have a customer that has designed a necklace and I had NO idea how to get the wire to go around the bead smoothly w/o killing my hands. You are a life (and hand) saver! Thank you so much!

  • @blankenmom aaaawww lol... you are so welcome.. this is a great and "easy on the hands" technique with a real WOW factor.. Thank you for your comment .. I am like OVER THE MOON chuffed with it.. :) :) :) it was a real fun read and totally made my day.. Enjoy and create many many many more of these.. xx LD

  • Cool! thank you so much! Do you buy your beads in bulk? Also where do you get them from besides the ones that you make lol so sorry for all of the questions :( I am just so interested in all your work! :) :)

  • @tnavarette25 I dont mind questions :) I don't buy in bulk. Before I made all my own beads, I used to purchase lampwork beads from Artists. Any supplies i need, solid brass /copper etc I buy on Etsy as they have a great range & because I like to support local crafters. My sterling silver is made to order here in Auckland by a company called regal castings. I also use artistic limited wire in some designs because it is nickel free & cheaper for my paying customers than SterlingSilver. ;) xLD

  • Hi there again! lol I am not sure if you know anything about baking clay? you are very creative and i love your work, especially the glass beads you make! i was wondering if you could tell me about sculpey could i paint it before i bake it?

  • @tnavarette25 No, I think the initial or first baking/annealing program to" dry and toughen bisque" is to high for the paint . As for the clay, painting it before the clay has been baked would weaken the constitution of the binding molecules in the clay, which in turn would jeopardise the durability of the clay. Painting , scraping, embossing etc and sealing is done after baking the clay first to a bisque. And then the second annealing process is to toughen and seal the colour etc

  • @tnavarette25 lol... hope that makes sense.. x

  • That's a simple yet creative design^^ I'm a lapidary person in Malaysia, and I do wire works too, it is fun, especially when your work is a success!! I made rings and pendants mostly ^^ and I like to view more ideas from others and I am more than happy to share ideas too!! Greatest luck to all

  • @JackyLum Hi Jacky... It is great hearing from you.. Thank you for your post. Please feel free to share your website with us... ;)

  • Hey that is an awesome craft area!!! :) Where did you get that desk from?

  • @tnavarette25 Hey there :) :) Thank you so much... My father built it for me and the whole family climbed in and painted it over a few weeks.. lol. Here is a link if you would like to see close up photos of the inside drawers etc.. it is very handy and keeps the nutty crafters table tidy. :) :) I cant seem to post a link .. well if you want to see it you can go to my website lorrainedowdlecreations com and click on the second link saying Supply boutique and my studio tab is there x

  • gret vid! staight to the point! cant wait to get some wire and try it!

  • @unicorn1081 Thank You ;) lol.. get some wire fast :) :) :)

  • very concise so simple too thankyou. x

  • @motherpops Hi there... You are so welcome.. :) thank you for your great feedback.. have a fabulous week-end ahead.. happy creating.. xx LD

  • @TheCraftyBeggar Hey there.. Thank you for your feedback.. Enjoy xx LD

  • Awesome technique! Thanks for the video!!

  • @CountessRachel ... You are most welcome.. hope you have made something fabulous to wear already. :) xLD

  • Thank you ...... I have to go and make one now. Music was pretty go to!

  • @MsPittston It is rather neat... if you use a little less wire you can make smaller ones and leave the centre bead out.... they can then be used as little decorative fillers, spacers etc.. you can get very far with this one technique alone... Enjoy!

  • Love it !!!!!

  • @latinladi21 :) You most welcome. :)

  • thank you for sharing. love it.

  • @DivaJacobs313 You most welcome :-)

  • Thank you. Just learning wire wrapping techniques and loved you video

  • @number1spitfire Hey there. You are so welcome... Enjoy the wire journey... and wire wrapping is so fun... you will L O V E it. :-) I have a wire wrapping tutorial out on Etsy if you keen to have a peak.. It is called : Wire Wrapped Heart Tutorial : Lorraine Dowdle :-) LD

  • I enjoyed this tutorial but......... Now how do I turn it into a ring? Ya kind of left me hanging :-(

  • @equals3wannab Hey there. The tutorial was created to show everyone how to create one fun component in wire from beginning to end. It is a neat technique which offers so many possibilities when a creator allows the imagination to flow. If a ring is something you envision making then you can just add this component to your ring creation skills like you would, if you were adding a bead or cabochon etc. I hope this helps.. Happy Creating.

  • Awesome video-so clear and easy to follow. Thanks a bunch!!!

  • It has been great having all the chats via the comments board and the PM messages with and from You all.. Thank you... I hope to have another quick and fun tut up soon.

  • Ok I think I just bought some yesterday! I'll give it a try tonight. Thank you and Happy Easter to you and yours too

  • Hi Lorraine, Yes I did try it and it turned out alright. It's not as smooth as I'd like it to be in the beginning of the spirals but I'd sure it will improve with practice. Need to get some larger beads. Thank you so much for the tutorials.

  • @lesliesmith53 . You can have smaller cages too. :) the thinner the wire the less wire you need to begin with in the beginning .. Practice and try with an easier gauge of wire, like 20gauge. cut it's length round 12cm instead , and spiral both ends etc following the tut. This will give you a smaller cage to work with, and and easier one to manage re the wire toughness . try it with 22gauge wire and so on.. Have a Great Easter.. :):)

  • I do have a question you might be able to answer: I am new to wire. I am also the type of person that finds more satisfaction in doing something by myself--no cheats. As such, I was curious as to whether you were aware of particular gauges, wire types, or techniques that result in strengthened wire so I can create chains myself--without buying premade chains. Anything you know and can share would be greatly appreciated.

  • @satanssecret1369 Hey there... 16g or 1.3mm thickness is fabulous for chain making. whether you make links and interconnect or jump rings and interlink.(it gives a heavier look) 18g or 1mm thickness hard Sterling Wire is also perfect for these needs and a very common size to use. 18g artistic non tarnish (lead free copper base wire) for eg... is pretty awesome to use too and less expensive.

  • @satanssecret1369 besides conditioning the wire in your hands as you work.. , once you have created your jump rings for eg or your links to eventually use as chain, you can chase(hammering slightly) on them to strengthen them too without changing their shape. Some people use a hard plastic mallet to do this.. it hardens the wire, without flattening or planishing the wire.

  • @satanssecret1369 mmm the thinner the chain the higher the gauge. so 20g for eg is 0.8mm thick and will work for chain making too.22g half hard SS wire is 0.64mm thick(perfect for earhooks) etc.. I personally feel that if you are making chain and want it to be strong and " fine" you need to work with a SS Hard

  • @satanssecret1369 if i missed anything .. just ask again... will try and answer best I can. :) LD

  • @LorraineDowdle Thank you so much. I'll look into all of that and experiment to see which works best. Appreciate the response. :)

  • HI Lesliesmith :) Thank you for your feedback.. How did you get on.. have you tried it yet? :) :) xLD
