The idea of the album is that the main character is injured in war and instead of having his whole life flash before his eyes, he has a "flash forward" where he sees his future, or possible futures. This song is the representation of a possible future where he is a burned out drug addict musician whose illegal actions catch up with him. When he is in the hospital I believe he is in the present, and the head injury is from the war. It's an amazing concept album, easily the best of 2010.

before I get blasted for this let me at least say that I am a big meat loaf fan

but

I was not impressed with this music video at all, I am ok with a video that clearly has no plot but this one kept hinting at a story and didn't deliver. big let down in the end.

its too bad because this is currently one of my favorite songs and even had me picking up my old meatloaf albums again, this song was in my humble opinion a breakthrough for meat loaf launching him into a new generation of listeners

I loved it immediatley. As soon as it was done i ran a bought one of those autographed Biography and the autographed CD Booklet. An outstanding concert.
