i love this song... yes quite sharp during the dissonant moments- which are supposed to give tension but if its not perfect then it doesn't feel the way it is meant- which is actually my favorite part of this piece. although when i heard other songs of eric whitacre's that you've done...they have been my favorite at times. this piece also usually has the help of a large choir that assist to the expanse of this song. lovely though... keep up the great work :)
Very beautifully done! Though, the tenor part is very prominent. Maybe back off a bit guys? Or, blend a little better? But, with a little tweaking, this could be absolutely fantastic! Haha. Well done ladies and gents.
Nicely done, the recording didnt show the Bass1 very strongly bar 15 to 26, or the bass 2 throughout the song. Those powerhouse ladies just drowned the chords provided by the basses ... shame. Could just be the recording tho. Im a member of the Eric Whitacre VC (1600 members), and I will post this on the fb wall, it should be heard.
BUT - the choir has a tendency to go sharp. And quite a bit too! Just something to keep in mind, since you ended up just over a semitone higher than what you started in (and what it's written in). Mind you, it's better than going flat - as long as your singers can still manage.
Keep up the great work, I look forward to hearing more about this choir.
i was in choir when i was in high school like 7 years ago ... we used to sing eric whitacres songs too !!! never forgot the impact of his songs.. especiallly wen ur in the group singing them
truly beautiful ! made me believe in magic even as a jaded teenager lol
gorgeous sound and quality. but the vowels are killing me. the things that are going on with the diphthongs that are considered correct pronunciation in other countries are what American singers strive to stay away from. not the most beautiful recording, but still very good.
@smithrook i understand that...but honestly if they were just singing the song on a single vowel, although you would never do that, the sound would be incredibly rich.
The only thing worse than a tenor is a tenor who insists on being heard...
