This may have already been said, but.... If you're just going to use epoxy to set the enamel in, why not just buy colorants for the epoxy...? Quality glass enamel isn't exactly cheap. Also, many enamel colors do not become true until they've been fired. Blacks look grey, transparents in particular look ashy until they're clarified into their fused state by heat. Also, I tried to find the blog and it appears to no longer exist.
Is it possible to use glass rods/frit and a hand torch for these techniques? I do flame work with glass, and it feel like melting f*itted (at the time of posting youtube thinks that chunks of glass frit are a swearword) glass (not powdered) or dollops off of a glass cane would work.
Metalchick, this is great. I am a jeweller myself (silversmith). I would like to know if you can use this resin as a base and set rhinestone crystals on top.
Do you know anything about the CERALUN Swarovski technique? It is supposed to be a ceramic compound created by Swarovski themselves and they do it in all colours. Can you do the same with these cold enamels?
Nice video, but I think you should have mentioned that enamel powder is very toxic to breathe in or ingest. A proper mask should be worn when working with the powder, or sanding it. Grinding enamel is usually done under running water, to get rid of the fine particles that are created. Also the technique you are showing here is basically just like using resin. So if you're not going to actually fuse the enamel to the metal by heating it, you're probably better off to just work with resin.
Because resin is made from different chemicals to the cold enamel. Resin does'nt work that well with silver because it reacts with it in that it dramatically acelerates the tarnishing of the silver, resin also shrinks over time and can come away from the silver that it attached to.
Absolutely! You can use brass polisher such as Brasso at the very end of the sandpaper polishing. If you're going to do this, go from a rough sandpaper like 220 all the way up to 800 grit or so. Then finish with Brasso. Good luck, and thanks for writing!

What happened to melting the glass? You just mix it in with epoxy. Why even use powdered glass then? You could have used paprika for that matter.

I agree with Red Paper Shoes - enamel is POWDERED GLASS -- you do NOT want to get this stuff into your lungs!!

Get a life guys?
It's the internet you're on, not your local pub. Please keep a friendly environment, remember there are children watching such videos.
Cheers,
Matt.
