I recently got out of the Marine Corps Infantry. I watched this video Memorial Day 2011, and sometimes watch it when thinking about my friends who died along side me in Marjah, Afghanistan. Thank you for making it.
Good video.....except for the last 3 words "happy memorial day". That iritates the heck outta me! How can anyone put the words "happy" and "memorial" together!?!? This day is to remember those who died, how can you put the word happy next to the word memorial?! OH I hate to see that or hear it! People, think of what you are saying!!
I say it. If only because I can't add "...And think of who made it possible FOR you to have a happy Memorial Day." It's a matter of how you view it. It's very important to not forget courageous warriors who died defending America, yes. That is absolutely crucial. But if we spend Memorial Day in a somber mood, then it follows that we should be at least a little somber every day we remain free. I don't think any of them gave their all for that. Just the way I see it. May God bless you and yours.
War is a waste so why do we celebrate it with parades, flags and glorious war stories when, in reality, they are fought by our youth who are but pawns in the hands of old men ~ seduced by power and greed ~ who are more than willing to waste our most precious resource on illegal wars, occupations and the on going maintenance of an out of control military/ industrial complex : Allen L Roland
@nancyterrell you insult every person who has died for the American dream with that quote. If you are an American, see your way out. We do not want people who are neither patriotic or thankful. Hold your tongue, for you do not deserve the freedoms of speech that these men and women have granted you. You are dismissed!
Well done and thanks for sharing. Representing the WOMEN who have served our country in a few photos would have been a great way to HONOR their dedication to the Armed Forces. Just a thought. Peace Love SMILES :-)
Do not forget Memorial Day is the day we honor those who gave their lives in the service of this country. On Veterans Day, we honor all who served, but Memorial Day is to remember all those who will not be coming home. We should honor those who serve every day, and when you hug your soldier upon their returning home, be thankful this day is not to honor them, but to honor those they left behind.
FYI...a GREAT video, but embedding is disabled. May I suggest you reset the preferences in this so it can be shared. YouTube sometimes defaults videos so they cannot be seen or shared. The creator of the video has to change the settings. Thanks.
I am a humble daughter and proud mother of brave men who stood up and served this great country so that we ALL may enjoy freedom. I will honor the sacrifice made by all who served, living life in freedom with gratitude. May I never forget the price that was paid and I pray that I would always look for ways to honor our troops past, present and future. I remember you!
I am showing this in my church service on Memorial Day to honor those who have given the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live, and worship, in freedom.
This is one GREAT video, that every kid should watch several times during the school year, and then ,just maybe then, they will realize the cost of freedom, and why it is so highly revered by U.S. Veterans
Thanks to all the men and woman ,past to present, who have sacrificed so much. You are what make America so great! Your HONOR and BRAVERY is matched by no others. Thank you for keeping our country safe! You are the BEST of the BEST! God bless each and everyone of you and your families!
I still remember part of John F. Kennedy's wonderful speech in his Inaugural Address on January 20, 1961 in which he states, "My Fellow Americans, ask not what your country can do for you, ask what you can do for your country!" These brave men & women who made the ultimate sacrifice for this country must have felt this in their hearts.... Thanks to them, we still have peace & freedom. Wishing each one of you a peaceful Memorial Day with your loved ones, and may God Bless you & your family!!!
Great job one of the best tributes I've seen. To all the troops in Afghanistan and the rest around the world never forget them for they help build the great society that America is today
God bless America and the men and women who bravely serve our nation in military service. They are the reason why we enjoy the liberty and freedom we have today !
What an outstanding piece. Thank you for honoring us all with this beautiful tribute. I marched in a parade this weekend as a Revolutionary Colonial Color Guard. The salutes from Police Officers were respectful and moving, the cheers we received were heartwarming. They were not for us, but for all our patriots who have fought for us. God Bless the United States of America.
Inspiring and humbling!!! Please enable for embedding or linking so I can post on facebook and spread the message - - Americans need to be REMEMBER and honor the memories of our fallen heroes! Thanks and may God bless these united states of America.
An amazing and moving video. Superbly done and extremely poignant - for Memorial Day or just as a reminder of the devotion of America's armed forces. Thank you for producing and sharing.
This is the best one on U-Tube!! I've been looking for something to play at church this Sunday and I wanted to use this one but can't download it :( I couldn't believe it when I saw that you live in Rochester. I live in North Chili. Email me if there's some way I can get the video.
Outstanding video! Thank you for taking the time to put it together, This will be a great asset to my instruction on Memorial Day. Thanks again and take care, Tom
You've captured in photos and music, what I've tried to convey to my children in the spoken word. Outstanding piece of work you've created. As a veteran, I thank you for capturing the true meaning of what Memorial Day is for. Too bad network television couldn't free up 6:24 to air your work on Memorial Day.
Jim, My compliments on a job well done. I do believe that the closing slide of the video would be best served by changing the "Happy Memorial Day" to "Memorial Day - A Day of Remembrance". God Bless them All...... Airborne '66
I want to thank you for sharing this amazing video. Every true and proud citizen of the USA should not only honor our troops on this special day, but every day of the year. For without their brave and loyal service, we would not have the freedoms that we have today. My one true regret is that I never joined them. To our men and women of the armed forces: THANK YOU! YOUR SERVICE IS TRULY AND INSPIRATION.
Jim, as TV producer and production specialist, this is one of the best moving videos I have seen. Your choice of music and pictures exquisite is exquisite. This video expresses the true meaning of Memorial Day. You say it all here. A job well done. God Bless those who serve and have fallen, so we can live in freedom.
On the left at 4:35 is that Cocky SOB Guarnere from Easy Company. (Band of Brothers) If I remember correctly he lost his leg during The Battle of the Bulge trying to save a buddy.
One more thing, I am not a religious man but I do love this. John 15:13 "No one shows greater love than when he lays down his life for his friends"
Amazing, Every American should see this video to help them remember it's not a day off for BBQs but for giving thanks to all of those who served past present and future. There has been times when this great nation was threatened but brave men and women have answered the call and defeated oppressors and kept this nation safe and continue to do so. God Bless our troops and their families !
Thank you for honoring those who've served, who've paid more than they should have had to - some, all they had. 5/5 stars for our military troops, Veterans and their families, and for you, for remembering why we have Memorial Day.
