  • Don't take everything this guy says as gospel. He's obviously a poorly trained sales person, not an engineer. As others have said, his definition of a VSAT is incorrect (1.2 meters diameter is the usual upper limit to be considered a VSAT), his EIRP explanation is confused, and his explanation of Decibels and signal to noise ratio have been mixed together. His noise definition is just plain wrong. He clearly doesn't understand everything he's been told. And I think he means "brick," not buck.

  • "Anything on earth can be considered a VSAT". I don't agree with his definition of a VSAT, and I don't think the market in general does either. Inmarsat terminals for example are not considered VSATs.

I don't agree with his definition of noise either.

And his whole estimation of the main lobewidth of a 1.2m (?) Ku-band dish is also weird.

The whole presentation has a very unprofessional tone of both the teacher and the students.

  • Very interesting indeed. Some knowledgable folks there but what is this relating to? University course somewhere in Canada? Or an oil company training session?

  • Please how do i download this picture as I cant really get it due to my internet connection?
