As the other commenters stated: motion tracking. Software will be used to follow them around in the shot and that movement information can be used to sync the new background to the camera movement, stabilize the shot or all kinds of other fun stuff.

that's bullshit. chroma key isn't used for motion tracking. the track points (white crosses) helps the motion tracker to stabilize or track the footage. the chroma key is a technique to remove the background (greenscreen).

they help motion tracking. as you see, there is camera movement and it would look artificial if the added background wouldn't respond to that as well.
