  • Good engine. How many cars can it pull?

  • @bradstrains Thanks! Hmmmm..... I don't know I don't have a big layout to really test it but I think it can easily pull 10 + cars. The motor in this thing is very very powerful.

  • @Bassfanatic94 10 freight or passenger cars? Because 10 passenger cars would be OK but 10 freight is an understatement. My MTH AC4400 can pull 100+ freight cars. I think a one motor steamer like that should be-able to pull 20-30 easily. Most engines are limited by traction so motor torque isn't at question when it comes to Starting tractive effort. How much it weighs, and how many wheels are driven are the main factors. In speed motor torque is a major factor.

  • @bradstrains Yeah I agree with you. I really have no idea I have a small layout once I expand it a bunch I will be able to tell more how it can pull. It could probably do 20-30 if I got the room to try. This thing has 4 drive wheels and all of them have flanges. Plus this engine ways a ton too! It's really heavy!

  • i hear what cha mean man! LOL

  • the problem is i am only 13 and i am not that rich... i will just have to get by with looking at images of them! LOL :)

  • @EPICTHOMASFAN713 hahaha I hear ya man. This hobby is great but it sucks the life out of you with cash. I paid for this engine with my OWN money. My parents helped me a little bit but I paid them back with my OWN money. I have a job now which makes saving money a whole lot easier! If you save up you can get what you want! :)

  • really cool train... i want one

  • @EPICTHOMASFAN713 Thanks! You should definitely get one! It is a terrific runner and can pull like a champ!

  • it has speed control, right?

  • @ELMSLines Yes it is little jerky though since I am controlling it through a transformer.

  • @Bassfanatic94 Ah, does the Boiler door open?

  • @ELMSLines Nope. Only Vision Line engines do so to my understanding. Not a deal breaker in my book.

  • Well I don't my to Lionel engines run fine and the oldest one was used! Both run fine and can pull alout of cars no problems so Lionel is my favorite in opinion.

  • I have one question on June 4th you said Lionel sucks and you bought one of their products I sa the comments you posted on RAILROADNUTS video.

  • @littleevan99 Oh you're thinking back to the video in which I said that MTH was a superior modeler to Lionel. Which I will still hold that opinion. May I make myself clear: Lionel is a great company with there trains WORK RIGHT! The quality control is horrible on Lionel's engines in fact I am going to have to send this engine back because the smoke unit in the main stack doesn't work and the cab light does not turn on. For a $700 I shouldn't. I have never had that problem with an MTH engine.

  • Awesome Mike! I really wasn't expecting that engine to sound as great as it did! I love the loud chuffs to it and the detailing is amazing! Lionel did a kick ass job on it! Glad to see that you finally got it! btw, did you hear about the railroad museum starting to work on the real 460?!

  • @altoonaPArailfan Hey Connor! I know I felt the same way about the engine! I sounds so much different when in person! The chuffing is so real and the whistle along with the detail is great! Lionel definitely hit a home run on this engine! Only bad thing is that I have to send it in to get its main stack smoke unit fixed along with any other problems. But as long as Lionel gets it done I am happy. Yes I have been following the cosmetic restoration of the real 460. I can't wait til its done!

  • I was going to get one but decided not to instead for a cheaper price I'm getting a Lionel Vision Line UP Genset switcher.

  • @littleevan99 Hey that is a great locomotive too! I don't blame you! Thanks for watching!

  • Great set buddy good luck with it. It sounds terrific!

  • @Firehawk1218 Hey Darren! Thanks for the comments! This engine is so much fun to operate! The features are ridiculous! Blows everything out of the water! Thanks again Darren! You do a great job yourself with your videos!

  • Hey Mike, sweet new engine! Looks and sounds great. Love the steam whistle. It will run better with Legacy, start saving and enjoy!

  • @GEOMIMI89 Hey George! Good to hear from you buddy! It is soo awesome only thing is that I am going to have to send it in for repair. The main stack smoke unit is not working. It worked for the first day then stopped. I want it to be perfect because I paid 600 bucks for this thing! The steam whistle is so much fun but I hate mopping up the liquid (a small price to pay for the feature). I am hoping to get Legacy this X-mas and I am saving now! Thanks for watching!

  • awesome man congrats this is a really nice set!

  • @GunMetalJeep45 Hey Will! Thanks for watching! I really appreciate it! You're right this is definitely a nice set! If you want a small o scale engine this is the one to get!

  • Mike, That is one bad ACe engine!!! I like the whistle sound a lot and the detail is top notch!!! I bet your addicted to that whistle steam effect!!! LOL I know I am!! :) Its a great feeling to pull a new steam engine out of the box and watch all the cool rod action!! Keep you videos coming my friend!!

  • @aocruiser Hey Anthony! This is a bad ACe engine! the sound and detail is superb and Railsounds absolutely blows Protosound, Tsunami sound, and another other sound out of the water. That whistle steam effect is very addicting. I don't always put it on though because the smoke fluid condenses around the whistle and I have to constantly mop it up. I guess it is a small price to pay for this engine. You should of seen me when I pulled out that box and unwrapped that engine! Videos on the way bro!

  • HELL to the YEAH!!!!!!!!!!! You got it finally! :D Mike the 460 is bad dude! The whistle is so sick and the engine looks so awesome! I can tell you're hooked to the whistle effect! LOL! Have fun man, and congrats on getting her!

  • @PghTrainFanatic hahahahaha! That's too funny Nick! I am so glad you enjoyed it! After a long and patient road I finally got it! It is hard to believe sometimes that it is mine. The sounds blow everything out of the water! The whistle...WOW! Gotta love that steam effect! I don't even turn on the main stack just the whistle and I am good to go. That whistle can really crank it! You have got to get this engine for the P.I.R. It would just fit perfectly. Thanks Nick for watching!

  • shittt!!!!!!!!!!!!! that is a realllly great locomotive you got on your hands, how much did that set ya back?

  • @shininghappyperson7 Hahahaha! I said the same thing when I fired it up for the first time! I adore this engine! Not only is it my first legacy engine but my first scale one. Love the whistle steam probably the best feature. I can't get enough of that whistle! I had saved up $486 before I bought it. My dad was willing to loan me the money and the engine cost $595. So I owe only 109 bucks which I make up through mowing lawns! It was a long road to this engine but I got it done! Thanks!

  • @Bassfanatic94 its just soooo realistic! the sound is spot on and the whistle was just awsome,im going to be getting a summer job,its not likely, but im going to apply for a job on the G&J railroad, its a little shortline, with a couple of alco RS-3's.that would be awsome.but i dont think its gunna happen, mannn im mostly Ho scale but if i had the oportunity i would drag out my fast track and the rest of my stuff and make my O scale table again!have fun!!!!!!!

  • @shininghappyperson7 Hey man, follow your dreams! That is all I can say. O scale is the only way to go in my book buddy. Buy this engine if you can! Thanks for watching!

  • @shininghappyperson7 yeah, i would be O scale but the only issue is the larger you get (scale size) the less amount of room you have for complexity of your mainline.for O scale i have a pennsylvania railroad 4-4-2 and a D&H RS-3 three stainless steal passenger cars and i think 14 freight cars,i have 4 switches and probly about 40 pices of track,a freight house,a tower, and a station,i almost bought a reading railroad 4-6-0 MTH camelback at a train show one year......damn....i wish i did!

  • @shininghappyperson7 Wow those sounds like some great engines and an extensive layout! You should definitely show it off! Try to get that camelback next time if you can!

  • @Bassfanatic94 yeah i will! i gotta get some better steam, because the 4-4-2 is one that i got in a PRR starter set a while back, not very much detail, prices are really high though

  • @shininghappyperson7 You definitely should! MTH's railking imperial line gets better and better every year. I recommend the M1a for you from the 2011 V2 catalog. They now have wireless tethers!

  • Awesome dude !!!!! I wish I had one of those !!!! How are you doing ?

  • @gregpokes1 Hey Camden! Thanks for watching! You should definitely invest your money into one of these engines whether it be the Pennsy one, Reading, or Baltimore and Ohio. I am doing great thanks for asking!

  • Nice engine have fun..!!!!! :D

  • @39thechevyman Thanks! I sure will!

  • WOW!!! CONGRATS MIKE!!! I cant believe it man, that engine is gorgeous!!! I hope the K4s are just like it! The sound is amazing, and when is cruises around the track it looks like pure pennsy power. The painting and stripes are real sharp, Lionel did real nice on them. Im blown away man!

  • @PRRK4Lover Thanks for the kind comments Jared! You should of seen my face when I opened the package up and saw the big orange and blue Lionel label! The weight of the engine is amazing and it is highly detailed! I hope the K4 is just like it too! True Pennsy written all over it! I wanted this engine and I got it! LOL! The Odyssey system is amazing and the sounds blow everything else out of the water! It is astonishing! I hope to get Legacy this Christmas! Thanks so much Jared!

  • Mike that PRR Lindbergh Special is a gorgeous, bad azz engine!!!!!! Those still shots show just how beautiful that engine is!!! And it sounds great too! The whistle steam effect looks great, however, I did not see any smoke coming from the main stack. Is there a problem with the main stack smoke unit or is it turned off? Or maybe it was smoking but was not visible in the video. Anyways, congratulations on getting an awesome, sick, gorgeous engine Mike!!! Enjoy it my friend! Bill

  • @byates59 Yeah I really wanted to get some highly magnified shots of the engine if possible. It is hard to because of the lighting and shine of the engine. I tried though. The whistle steam was great. I had the main smoke stack unit turned off. The smoke unit in the main smoke stake is wimpy compared to the whistle. Lionel should fix that but I rather have it off anyways, the whistle sucks up fluid as it is. Thanks for watching Bill! I really appreciate you commenting too!

  • @byates59 Hey Bill I just wanted to add that if you can buy this engine do it! You'll love it!

  • you just love that whistle don't you lol great vid man love the new engine

  • @Railroadkid1937 Hey man, I do love the whistle! It is very addicting especially when it smokes! You gotta get this one! Thanks for watching!
