A lot of technically skilled singers are unconvincing, such as Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey, while singers like Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, I generally believe what they're saying and feel genuine emotion, and that is the measure of 'voice' to me. It's like a music teacher of mine who said that songs with many chords were always superior to two-chord songs. That's simply false, or at least not The Truth.

@SoulSearcher4U - well, superior range is a fact. superior voice is subjective. A lot of technically skilled singers are unconvincing, such as Whitney Houston or Mariah Carey, while singers like Bob Dylan and Lou Reed, I generally believe what they're saying and feel genuine emotion, and that is the measure of 'voice' to me. It's like a music teacher of mine who said that songs with many chords were always superior to two-chord songs. That's simply false, or at least not The Truth.

Absolutely class all the way. Ok, there are those who aren't fans, however, a person who has an ear for fine vocal range would agree that Shirley Bassey's voice is perfection.
