A new Buffy without Joss Whedon or SMG would bomb! No self respecting Buffy fan of old would go to see it because it wouldn't live up to the hype! I'd love it if they were to do another season with all the cast but it's been too long now, If they did another Buffy movie it would take it away from the whole mythology behind the ending of Buffy with the new slayers etc. mostly it would just suck!

I actually look forward to the relaunch. Movies and shows like Vampire Diaries and Twilight made the vampires way strong. I don't think even Buffy could move as fast as they did. As for the original cast..I love Sarah Michelle Gellar. I'm still a fan. However, she's too old. So is David Boreanez. This needs not only a new generation, but a new outlook on vampires themselves. Those shows romanticized vamps. That can't be ignored. With stars like Jolie good luck getting a young kick-ass girl.

I think people should give the remake a chance. Some remakes aren't that bad. I really miss Buffy and I would love to see what they are going to do with the remake, I personally think it would be interesting to see where they will go with the movie. Of course they shouldn't do the EXACT same thing as the original movie or even the TV show and hopefully the vampires aren't anything like now-a-days! I hope they keep it traditional.

they NEED to make a new buffy movie! years after buffy ended, this stupid vampire fad started popping up: twilight, true blood, the vampire diaries (i don't mind Vampire Diaries though), fright night, and even on disney channel they have my babysitter's a vampire (which has a tv show with a similar plot to buffy, but the movie makes references to twilight and the vampire fad). we need buffy more than ever!

I'm really excited for this! but, I do really wish that SMG would be playing Buffy, and James Marsters to be playing Spike (my favorite character) I'm a huge fan, and basically have all 7 seasons memorized, I can tell what episode it is my what the characters are wearing, know at least one line from each. You know , the only thing that bothered me personally in all seasons of "Buffy the Vampireslayer" is a good monster that never turned up, something supernatural good. Such as angels or fairies. But otherwise it's really really good. So my favorite characters are , "James Marsters'" David Boreanaz "and" Seth Green ": D
The remake is a horrible idea. Those aren't even my words - creator Joss Whedon and several of the main cast from the TV show have said the very same. They plan to make a movie WITHOUT the guy who envisioned the whole thing? Bullshit. Whedon wrote the script for the 1992 movie but they changed it and made it a comedy and the movie bombed. Joss made a TV show and it succeeded. I'm seeing a pattern here. Fine if you don't want the original cast, but at least include the creator. He's earned it.

There already is a Buffy movie. It was made in 1992 and it starred Kristy Swanson! -SMG. The great thing about BTVS is because even after a decade off air, it sticks with you. And now, when I think of it, I'll think of the stupid re-remake that has some over-publicized starlet playing an icon. As much as it pains me to know that there will be no more new episodes, It'll hurt me more by knowing that the amazing show we all know and love is being remade just for the money.

I have seen all the seasons of Buffy a few years ago, and used to be a big fan. I'm not sure what I think of a reboot of the series, it could really ruin the franchise's reputation for new fans. It could be a completely horrible movie, like the the recent Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. If I had to choose an actress for Buffy, however, it would probably be Hayden Panettiere, she could definitely pull it off, as shown by her role as Kirby in Scream 4.
If they were going to make a movie, they should've done it years ago with the cast from the tv show. That's a movie I want to see. A follow up to the tv show, like they did with Sex and the City.

Few shows that I watch that are coming back are Frienge, Vampire Diaries, Nikita, NCIS.Only realities show I watch occasionaly are America's got Talent,Dr.Oz,American Idol, and I prefer So you think you can dance over dancing with the Stars because generally they have way better dances.Kristi Yamagucci was great though.
if they do make a new one it should be just called "The Vampire Slayer" or just "The Slayer" because if there is no SMG its not "Buffy". They should do a totally different Slayer, because nobody of 13-18 really knows who Buffy is so they should do a fresh show. But also put little Easter eggs in it for the original fans of the show. But with all this Twilight shit I dont know how well this movie would take on the target audience.

Without Sarah Michelle Gellar Buffy would have been an insufferably selfish, flat, and impractical character that no one would be able to relate to. SMG brought her to life in a way I doubt anyone else ever could. And Joss Whedon's writing is part of the reason the series was such a hit. His sense for comedic timing and the proper moments for serious conversation brought the show to life and created an entire world rather than just a tv show.

My opinion is that a new "Buffy" movie will not be successful unless you can create something not dependent on either versions before it. The television show grew over seven years with a great cast and crew. If the film isn't unique, I'd leave the franchise alone. SMG is Buffy to me....

The original film didn't do badly because people weren't ready for a vampire movie, it did badly because the Kuzui's (or whatever their names are) changed Joss Whedon's original script so it wasn't as good.

Last movie I saw where someone said the objective was to introduce it to a whole new generation of fans, was Dragonball. They completely fucked that into the ground until it didn't even remotely resemble Dragonball. Remembering the pain of that experience and being a huge fan of Buffy, I would be worried about anything Buffy being made without Whedon.

These people didn't know whether they were coming or going, everything was new, and it wasn't making a lot of money at all. it became famous becuase of the fans, and becuase of the actors and decent writing. they broke new ground, with the silent episode, and in regards to gay sex scenes. they worked hard and were not afraid to take risks.

The original movie tanked, not because "audiences weren't ready", but because the movie SUCKED. The script (or at least what the "powers that be" did to the script) sucked, the actors sucked. And I say this as a big fan of the series.
Luke Perry's character was supposed to be a hard-edged punk with a shaved head, not goofy comic relief. Rutger Hauer's character was supposed to be young/sexy, not old/creepy. And Buffy was supposed to be sharp-witted and agile, not Kristy f'ing Swanson.

No Joss Whedon? He's like the central core of Buffy! As much as I'd love a continuation of BTVS, it wouldn't be the same without the original cast! I mean, why can't they do that? The cast hasn't really aged much, David and James still look as sexy as ever, so I don't see much of a problem.

I'd love it if they were to do another season with all the cast but it's been too long now, If they did another Buffy movie it would take it away from the whole mythology behind the ending of Buffy with the new slayers etc. mostly it would just suck!

I actually look forward to the relaunch. Movies and shows like Vampire Diaries and Twilight made the vampires way strong. I don't think even Buffy could move as fast as they did. As for the original cast..I love Sarah Michelle Gellar. I'm still a fan. However, she's too old. So is David Boreanez. This needs not only a new generation, but a new outlook on vampires themselves. Those shows romanticized vamps. That can't be ignored. With stars like Jolie good luck getting a young kick-ass girl.

Stop the madness! Just pick up where the series left off. As a matter of fact the comic book did do that. So pick up after that. Why do the always remake stuff? Just con't the story. I hate it when Hollywood. remake some things that are not even 50 years old (i.e. Footloose, Total Recall, "V" the series I hear they are looking at Robocop). I think people should give the remake a chance. Some remakes aren't that bad. I really miss Buffy and I would love to see what they are going to do with the remake, I personally think it would be interesting to see where they will go with the movie. Of course they shouldn't do the EXACT same thing as the original movie or even the TV show and hopefully the vampires aren't anything like now-a-days! I hope they keep it traditional.

I'm really excited for this! but, I do really wish that SMG would be playing Buffy, and James Marsters to be playing Spike (my favorite character) I'm a huge fan, and basically have all 7 seasons memorized, I can tell what episode it is my what the characters are wearing, know at least one line from each. The remake is a horrible idea. Those aren't even my words - creator Joss Whedon and several of the main cast from the TV show have said the very same. They plan to make a movie WITHOUT the guy who envisioned the whole thing? Bullshit. Whedon wrote the script for the 1992 movie but they changed it and made it a comedy and the movie bombed. Joss made a TV show and it succeeded. I'm seeing a pattern here. Fine if you don't want the original cast, but at least include the creator. He's earned it.

There already is a Buffy movie. It was made in 1992 and it starred Kristy Swanson! -SMG. The great thing about BTVS is because even after a decade off air, it sticks with you. And now, when I think of it, I'll think of the stupid re-remake that has some over-publicized starlet playing an icon. As much as it pains me to know that there will be no more new episodes, It'll hurt me more by knowing that the amazing show we all know and love is being remade just for the money.

I have seen all the seasons of Buffy a few years ago, and used to be a big fan. I'm not sure what I think of a reboot of the series, it could really ruin the franchise's reputation for new fans. It could be a completely horrible movie, like the the recent Nightmare on Elm Street reboot. If I had to choose an actress for Buffy, however, it would probably be Hayden Panettiere, she could definitely pull it off, as shown by her role as Kirby in Scream 4.

if they do make a new one it should be just called "The Vampire Slayer" or just "The Slayer" because if there is no SMG its not "Buffy". Without Sarah Michelle Gellar Buffy would have been an insufferably selfish, flat, and impractical character that no one would be able to relate to. SMG brought her to life in a way I doubt anyone else ever could. And Joss Whedon's writing is part of the reason the series was such a hit. His sense for comedic timing and the proper moments for serious conversation brought the show to life and created an entire world rather than just a tv show.

My opinion is that a new "Buffy" movie will not be successful unless you can create something not dependent on either versions before it. The television show grew over seven years with a great cast and crew. If the film isn't unique, I'd leave the franchise alone. SMG is Buffy to me....

ok, for one, yes, Sarah Michelle Gellar IS Buffy, without her the movie is nothing. but also keep in mind the movie is also nothing without Joss Whedon, the genius behind it all. the movie will be terrible, but im curious none the less.

alright it seems that there are a lot of people who think that this movie will be a big disappointment........add me to the list!
the only way i would see this movie is if it was really good..which means they will have to put a lot of effort into it.....which also means no actors from Twilight!!!

Last movie I saw where someone said the objective was to introduce it to a whole new generation of fans, was Dragonball. They completely fucked that into the ground until it didn't even remotely resemble Dragonball. Remembering the pain of that experience and being a huge fan of Buffy, I would be worried about anything Buffy being made without Whedon.

I love BTVS, and Angel. I will not and never will love a movie that has been rehashed for the purposes of making money. These people didn't know whether they were coming or going, everything was new, and it wasn't making a lot of money at all. it became famous becuase of the fans, and becuase of the actors and decent writing. they broke new ground, with the silent episode, and in regards to gay sex scenes. they worked hard and were not afraid to take risks.

They are going to do to the Buffy franchise what M. Night Shyamalan did to Avatar: The Last Airbender. They will take the same name and a few ideas from the show, and make into a SHITTY fucking film that contains 0% of the magic that made the first a success. I'll just stick to my trusty old BTVS DVD's and SSN 8 comic books. I hope they make their money, cuz that's all this is about. You take Joss out of it, and I will not support this abomination. Damn them all to a world WITHOUT SHRIMP!!!

The original movie tanked, not because "audiences weren't ready", but because the movie SUCKED. The script (or at least what the "powers that be" did to the script) sucked, the actors sucked. And I say this as a big fan of the series.
Luke Perry's character was supposed to be a hard-edged punk with a shaved head, not goofy comic relief. Rutger Hauer's character was supposed to be young/sexy, not old/creepy. And Buffy was supposed to be sharp-witted and agile, not Kristy f'ing Swanson.

I won't watch it becuase I will not enjoy it. It will just annoy me, regardless of what happens. Becuase I am a real Buffy and Angel fan. for me, SMG is Buffy, even though I didn't always like the character, I was prefer Spike, Willow, Giles and Anya, I loved the show. Anyone else would be a fake in my eyes. even though they are just characters, they are kind of real to me, becuase I grew up with it. I loved the show since age 10 or 11. The movie is not for Buffy fans

No Joss Whedon? He's like the central core of Buffy! As much as I'd love a continuation of BTVS, it wouldn't be the same without the original cast! I mean, why can't they do that? The cast hasn't really aged much, David and James still look as sexy as ever, so I don't see much of a problem.

No matter how good it is, or how bad it is. I know I won't like it. The reason being, that it won't be Buffy. Buffy is a set character in my mind. she's not like doctor who. she was there on my tv since I was a child. till when I was around 18. even my parents watched it. my mum still loves it and she's 57.
I'm a Buffy and Angel nut. there hasn't been a month that I haven't watched at least an episode.
they should make it about another slayer then maybe....

@scuffla Her name is Melaka Fray, and yes she is a slayer from the future, pretty bleak-looking future too. She appears in her own short comic book series titled "Frey" and Buffy season 8 #16 - #19 in "Time of Your Life" arc which takes place in 23rd century.

best case sceneriom this will be like a decent fanfiction, entertaining but non-canon, worst case, it´ll suck. My guess is, it´ll suck. I´m still gonna see it, but, meh, Buffy without Joss or any of the original cast doesn´t exactly inspire a lot of confidence. Why do they have to go with Buffy, they could go with completely different slayer, there are 1.800 of ´em in Buffyverse. This just smells like an attempt to make another Twilight.

It's only capitalizing on the title & main premise. The TV show is brilliant ~
it CAN NOT BE REDONE without the characters ~ chemistry ~ writing & so on.
This really ticks me off -- to RUIN the legacy of BTVS. Just come up with some other lame Vamp series like Twilight or whatever & give it a new name.
The ONLY thing that this new movie shares with the TV show is it's title!
