  • Baritone FTW

  • Tony's notes are 2 of the best notes you will ever here in barbershop. Amazing! But, the audience did clap early...The album is an even longer note...Great stuff!!

  • Wow... with a performance like that, who really has the gumption to get into the particulars. Sit back and enjoy, guys. Everything doesn't need feedback. Appreciate, or give it a rest with the criticism. Go get your medal and THEN comment.

  • Aww, the crowd isn't stupid, they were just amazed at Tony's loooooong hanger. However it would have been nice to hear it without the distraction.

  • stupid crowd clapping to early and not letting the last chord ring!

  • I agree

  • that is unbelievably good barbershop ...

  • max q is one of the most entertaining quartets that doesn't have a "routine" most of the time. tony just sorta wings it and they are so funny.

  • Keep in mind also most tags and posts are shorter during competition than on a CD. example for Max Q on their discovery CD this song the tags were much longer. Vocal spectrum Tim holds notes for a good 10-13 seconds longer on cruella deville and south rampart street parade. They shorten it to make sure that no mistakes with holding the note are made and it finishes off as strong as it started. Smart moves indeed

  • yea he held for almost 10 seconds after they made it to the last chord. So, they prolly didn't expect him to hold it that long since they rushed the beginning of the tag...I guess you gotta be careful SOMEhow.

  • I haven't heard Tony do very many hangers since the ahem...mistake on "Smile" 2005 contest. He seems to use a lot of effort these days.

  • on the recording of this song the post is for 34 seconds! forget 27

  • it was a great performance from beginning to end even with jeff's voice not bein quite there...but as posted before...he is god and i'd take him over about any other bass even when he is sick.

  • I don't like the fact that Tim makes a big deal of his hangers. Tony just lets his lungs do the talkin'!

  • Haha! Yeah I sat here and played it a second time to count Tony's hanger. A whopping 27 seconds is what I got and then I look down here and I am not the only nerd timing him. When chumbley1 watches this I guarantee he will be doing the same LOL I love at about 2:14 when Oxley does the bass version of NITRO sheeeee. What an awesome voice.

  • Well schlagboy, I am responding. Tony is da man!!! I like Tim's hanger's from VS but Tony is my personal favorite. Oxley is god as usual and the Nitro was cool, sheeee

  • I will never forget when we first discovered him on The Statler Brothers Show with Acoustix. Ahhh yes...Oxman with his incredible bass notes, hand gestures, and little foot kick to launch us into the state of barbershop obsession. From that point forward, the Schlag route would never be the same. Oh the memories...God bless us allllllllllllllll...Jeff Oxley is God.

  • Ahh yes, the infamous "Stars and Stripes", God Bless America" on the Statler Brothers show, I bet very few have seen that clip. You ought to upload that here on youtube, that would be so cool. They have proven they CAN win without Joe Connelly

  • oh hell yea, gotta love max q

  • Awesome how Tony maxed out that post beyond the standing ovation. 27 seconds or so? Awesome for a live performance.

  • nice hanger!
