This game was so horribly unfinished. If you stick this game in your CD player, you will discover many unused music tracks. From the weird glitches to the menu music ending after one play through, to the wheels magically joining to the axles in the pit, and atari 2600 engine sound make this the worst port of this game.
It's a shame, because they actually added alot of extra game besides the arcade tracks. It could have been the best port if they had taken 6 months to fix all the stupid stuff.
when it comes to ploygon games...i love the lower quality graphical ones...as those are the ones i grew up with with play station and saturn and stuff....whiles the arcade versions look good...they dont give the same feeling as these console ones do. i find them quite surreal and i like that
Wow this game looks insane for its time i give sega props for this 1. too bad they went bankrupt imagine the console they would have out today. dreamcast was 100% graphically equal to the gamecube and the dream cast was released when the n64 was.. haha too bad soo sad
not much of an improvement. I know that the saturn could have done a better job with the graphics. It's better to get the 32x version because it's the exact same graphics but no loading time.
use to love this game so much when i was a kid.the music was tight too.i just hated that they only played when you hit a checkpoint and that they were like 10 seconds long.awesome game nonetheless
@xan1242 You're right. I said that because the version of MAME I was using didn't support it. But since then I have a version of MAME on which the game works almost perfectly. I've even made a video of the game on my channel.
Compare Checkered Flag for Jaguar with Need For Speed for 3DO. Both were released in 1994. Moreover, Checkered Flag was 64 bit while Need For Speed was 32. Tell me, which one has better graphics?
I always liked that the full title of this game was Time Warner Interactive's VR Virtua Racing. Epic!

Musics at the checkpoints are missing when I play. Someone can help me?

Une conversion ratée !! La version 32X était presque + crédible.

I wish it had music playing the whole race. that was my only complaint about this game back then and now.

I still feel it's a really solid port of a game that has been done wrong far too often.

Its interesting how the checkpoint sounds changed each lap...and the course designs are awesome as well. Great driving, thanks for the video! =D

the arcade version was better, but I used to love the fact that I was able to have this at home.

The Sega Ages port remains the best VR, with exception to the original in MAME of course.

@IdleRain Except that the MAME version doesn't work, so...

@Quartrez Can you set up MAME to accept input from say, a computer steering wheel, and get some sort of force feedback?
ptracerfastlane 1 year ago
@ptracerfastlane If your computer detects the steering wheel input, you should be able to use it to play. As for force feedback, I don't know.

@DevilMaster Checkered flag wasn't 64 bit.
The console had a hybrid duo core 32 bit/16 bit processor which worked parallel to each other, not with.
