Brand loyalty? Keep in mind that Nintendo games (cartridge era) used to say "don't clean with alcohol or u'll dmg game", then they would sell 1/2 oz of rubbing alcohol in a $10-$20 "official cleaning kit" complete with "seal of quality". Finer liquor?
Don't be a retarded redneck, shop for the better deal.
Component IS more clear than composite on supported monitors, even with Wii's low resolution. this isn't a debate, it's a fact. I don't care if your mum can't tell the difference.
For signal, a copper cable with a connector at the end is the same among all brands, the only time you'll have a problem is if one has a short in it. Get the cheapest component cable you can find.
Component is better than composite which is better than the RF adapter/coaxial
Really, the only thing you're paying premium for is the proprietary connector, but even that does not change the fact that it is copper wiring and nothing but.
I have seen both cables being used on a FullHD LCD screen switching between the modes 576i (PAL standard) and 480p. And no, it doesn't seem to change anything. I'm happy I did buy a cheap cable from the net. Nintendo really did no good in this aspect.
Even on standard definition it's worth it. Those yellow cables make everything blurrier than it should be. Makes it hard on your eyes, making them bloodshot quicker. I had a standard definition TV and it was way better in Components. If possible don't use yellow cables they're garbage.
I bought the Mad Catz one and they worked perfectly for a day then it like flashed and it as becoming annoying. Then I got my money back and bought the Nintendo ones for 35 dollars at Best Buy and they are working perfectly
It is worth it like night and day i bought my cables for 4.99 free shipping on ebay its like getting a new totaly diffrent system.I am so happy i love them.
I bought 6ft Component from Ebay for $5. They are all the same except for name brand. Now some cables like Monster etc are better as far as what they are made of and all, but that extra goodness does absolutely nothing for you. What I'm saying is the technology on those are greater than what they are used for so it becomes a waste.
I hate to tell you this, but the Nintendo brand cables really aren't thick enough at the end. You'll get a better picture, but most likely horrible sound.
1) The Components will make little difference since the Wii supports Progressive scan & will give you better sound. Make sure that your Components cables has GOLD plugs......not silver!
2) If your HDTV has Hz, it's a plus. My HDTV it has 120Hz & with 480P resolution picture, you will get good Wii picture & sound. I do own Monster Wii Components cables.
Lol what's up with kids using the word "retard" in YouTube? The proper way to say is "Sir I think your mistaken about the sound in the Components". As a Best Buy employee for 6 yrs,the Components does give you good sound quality & if your going to talk smack, make sure that you do your damn homework before you speak!
@royaladam 1) I'm not a kid, I'm 49. 2) There's nothing proper about confusing "your" and "you're" and capitalising 'components' for no reason. 3) Component splits the video signal into 3 cables/signals over composite, and uses the exact same stereo sound that usually accompanies composite and s-video signals. 4) Sorry you've worked at Best Buy for 6 years; I wonder what other junk they filled your head with!
@royaladam I meant the same stereo sound regarding the Nintendo Wii component cables to another kind. For other devices the sound can be completely irrelevant, so why on earth would you bring it up? For example in 5.1 dvd players when they have a choice of using optical/digital or analog.
i agree... i just bought an hdtv and component cables...zelda twilight princess looks like a totally different game, in a good way.. modern warfare reflex looks effin amazing too..
stick with the xbox 360, comes with composite out of the box and is just an all round good machine. (red ring of death isn't as prevalent as many say) but yeah, cheap 3rd party cables are just as good as nintendo's overpriced ones.
I got a wii component cable off ebay for three bucks including shipping...works just the same as the $30 version. You are not paying for quality or name brands you are paying the store their markup profits!
Yelling isn't necessary to get a point across. I can hear distortion even if I crank my volume all the way down to the lowest point. But, no shit, it's better. Good video, minus the yelling I suppose.
stupid, Nintendo should start including it with the Wii and stop suckin another $30 out of us. Not to mention Gamestop/EB Games... That company is horrible. They might as well have a vacuum at the enterance and they can put them in peoples pockets and suck your money out.
I totally agree about including the component cables with the Wii. But I must add
the same to Sony and PS3. When you buy a PS3 you only get the composite cables and then you have to spend extra money for a HDMI or Component cable to get High Definition.
@jomagovan ..yea i changed it to 480p...and the only diference that i see is that it looks brighter...thats a good thing...but i thoght that with the component cables, the controler poineter wont get lagd and that the images wont get pixeld.....but the only diference that i see is that it looks brighter
just boght the component cables ...and ..i dont see much of the diference..i have a sony bravia....im playing mlb sk sprts 2010...i playd it on my hd tv with the composite cables and the game looked like shit.....and no i playd it with the component cables and the game still looks like shit on the HD tv...i thoght i was gonna get a better cuality like i have on a standerd tv with composite.....that sucks.....but even though...i think it depends on the game as well right?
@M1XART no its not you idiot, component cables max out at 1080i [ i = interlaced] the only cable that can do 1080p [p= progressive] is an HDMI cable or DVI cable less audio.
Even though 480p isn't true HD it does help the picture (black level, colors and resolution.) I got Component cables for my original Xbox and the games looked better.
@liveswired It does but only two games support 1080i. Gran Turismo 4 and Tourist Trophy. I have GT4 and the PS3/PS2/PSP Component Cables and it looks better :) Even though it might seem like a waste I will use it on to a PS3.
I live in the Netherlands and i have a 52 inch CRT TV from 2003 and 480p is the best picture i get on the TV.
Composite: 576i [50 Hz].

Think about it, if you look into an HDMI plug and count, there are 19 connections. There are 5 Component cables each with one big connection. So, if component can run 5 sets of data simultaneously, HDMI can run 19 simultaneously. And i do think that there is no major difference between name brand cables and knockoff brand cables.
@bigboom273 I'm not comparing the two together. I was saying there is no difference between a name brand and 3rd party, rather it be component, or hdmi. I know there is a difference between hdmi and component. Just not component vs component and hdmi vs hdmi.
ohh...well then in that case i agree with you. there pretty much is no difference between name brand cables and knock off ones. the cables on amazon are like 10 dollars but the ones you can buy at stores like best buy can be 70 dollars or more! i mean its just a fricken cable what more can you add to it to make it cost so much!
It works, I do it sometimes, just that you can't set it to HD or else the screen will just show black, but it looks a little better than the original cords
i got my component cables for 20 bucks... but i dont even know who makes it. But playing Super Mario Galaxy with it... it looked so much better, it made me want to play galaxy and get all 120 stars again... Yeah, its worth it. And my friend has the 1st part cables, and we did a comparison, and theirs no difference really.
