  • Fender, spot on! Absolute classic sci fi horror. Surely one of the best of all time! Brilliantly made. "Are you sure you can't see it, Dallas? I mean it is there!!"

  • the screenshots for prometheus look kinda lame.. meh.. but ill give it a try

  • I think Alien was the best one for making the creature spooky! I love Aliens just as much but the original had that chill about it that makes you fear the Alien big time!

  • I think this is my fav trailer of all time! its got everything you need to sell a film properly!! you have no idea whats going on! for someone who's never seen it! its spooky as hell! especially the sound/music!! it just nails that chill feeling but leaves you curious! making you want to see it :) glad they did the same thing for Prometheus! intelligent marketing

  • Perfect trailer for a perfect film... You dont even know what the hell is going on... Cant wait for Prometheus!!

  • games too look Far cry 1 can destroy body in blood^^ with guns....witohut mod f shit....look Crysis is a....'''clean""" => for all and not ( -16).....yes yes need blood

  • Holy shit, this came out in 1979... before I was even born.

This movie was meant for someone to see. It was metaphores kinda. WEYLAND always knew who Ripley was. Thats why she got selected? Shes an IMBRED in one of the movies.

    James Cameron made this?

You have to combined Alien, Aliens, Aliens 3 and Aliens Resurection. Predator, Predator 2 and AVP and AVP2 to understand these movies. Did James Cameron even make PREDATORS movie?

If you heard what I said out loud, its true.

  • @DarkPrinceNH5570 ...What?

Ridley Scott made this movie. James Cameron made the sequel. And you definitely don't have to combine the Alien and Predator movies to understand what's going on.

And Cameron had nothing to do with Predator.

  • I feel like watching all these movies again. I'm pumped for Prometheus!!

  • first saw this movie when i was 5, couldnt sleep for months, and got a whole lot of i told ya so from the rents

  • Out of all the alien saga films my favorite was aliens but this one is second best

  • The best promo ever made!

  • That is how you make a trailer

  • PROMETHEUS!

  • Saw a clip of this in another movie and had to come back and say how awesome both films were in here. That other film I was talking about is Finding Joe, I really learned a lot about the story of hero's from it. //bitly com /tRidaq

  • Does anybody know where you can download the theme of the trailer

  • The soundtrack and audio effects add so much to the suspense in this film. That, and the long periods of silence. Still LOVE Alien.

  • Aw, don't hurt the poor cat!

  • As awesome as the trailer is in its entirety for getting across the feeling of the movie without giving much away, it could totally end at 0:50 because the title reveal followed by just a glimpse of the ship is that awesome.

  • should be a comedy version, they're only part way to destination and an onboard alien opens all the cryopods. then over the course of the film they all get cabin fever and kill each other, except one or some who end up in a monolith ending.

  • 33 years (and counting) since the film was released. This is and has been the most effective trailer released by Hollywood.

It says it all... without saying a word.

  • @hardhat27 I totally agree....

  • ...time to call the men in black

  • watching this makes me even more excited for Prometheus

  • @wackstar939 If you listen carefully the very same sound effects for Alien was used in Prometheus trailer.

  • @wackstar939 I know,,,,June cant get here fast enough!!!

  • There is nothing scarier then nothing scary.. as demonstrated by this.

  • i watched this movie and i was fine.. until that dam alien breaks out of that guys chest.. freaked me the hell out. Then after that alll chaos breaks lose... love the alien franchise, first two by far are the BEST in the series and Sigourney Weaver kicks a** as Ripley

  • The 9 "unlike" are fan of Alien 4...

  • @drybowserman9091 two more people got killed by the alien creature too!

  • I love that repeated scream sound.

  • Is the cat's scream at 1:32 actually in the movie?

  • @drybowserman9091 except for Ripley because she survived! the 7th dislike must be the alien creature that Ripley destroyed at the end!

  • This trailer was more entertaining than most full-length sci-fi movies now days.

  • yes.....Yes.....YES!!!!! YYYYYYEEEEEAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHH!

  • sound effect in trailer is the same as Prometheus , that's amzing me so mush

  • in space, no one can hear you rock

  • In space, no one can hear you eat ice cream.

  • HOLY SHIT, I dont usually comment on youtube, but I must say that this trailer REALLY scared the shit out of me... holy shit I even had to turn the lights on

  • Is anybody else PSYCHED for Prometheus?

  • @PhantomoftheMusical The creator of Alien and Blade Runner returns to the genre after 30 years and makes an Alien prequel with a Blade Runner sequel already in the works? Nah.

    /sarcasm

  • @PhantomoftheMusical - uhhhh, yes.

  • @PhantomoftheMusical Understatement!

  • 1973: The Exorcist

    1974: The Texas Chainsaw Massacre

    1975: Jaws

    1976: Carrie

1978: Dawn of the Dead and Halloween

    1979: Alien

    1980: The Shining

    1982: The Thing

    1986: The Fly

The good old days. Real suspense, real terror, and no ugly CGI.

  • @sindlibtsbles The Fly sucked ass. And you forgot to mention the Omen (1976) and the Fog (1981).

  • @BeyondTheMonolith To each his own. I didn't care for The Omen (I didn't hate it but I'm not crazy about it either). The Fog would've been a lot better if Carpenter hadn't put his then-wife in it. But that's opinion.

  • @sindlibtsbles

Agreed. You've seen Predators, right? The "real" predators make CGI aliens look like shit.

  • @PKrising24 I like the original Predator, and didn't bother seeing any of its sequels/spinoffs. I stopped watching big effects movies after 1991-1992. The computer-generated effects in T2 basically spoiled the whole industry...it's made filmmakers lazy. Each week I see advertising for another POS 'horror' film or comic book/video game adaptation filled with ridiculous CGI and I laugh at how bad it looks. Yet kids keep throwing their money away on it...

  • The Alien film series is a science fiction horror film franchise, focusing on Lieutenant Ellen Ripley (played by Sigourney Weaver) and her battle with an extraterrestrial lifeform, commonly referred to as "the Alien". Produced by 20th Century Fox, the series started with the 1979 film Alien, which led to three movie sequels, as well as numerous books, comics and video game spinoffs.

  • Related to the franchise are the "Alien vs. Predator" films (Alien vs. Predator and Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem), based on the related franchise which combine the Aliens with the Predators from the Predator film series.

  • The entire crew of the Nostromo disliked this

  • @drybowserman9091 okay... that was clever. The first time I ever liked one of these.

  • Yes one of the best trailer ever. And Dead space 2...

  • @mutantmutant Sorry Dead space one!

  • wtf cat?

  • My God this trailer still creeps me the fuck out.

  • that soundtrack on this trail puts a shiver down my spine love it :D

  • 30 years later, and this is STILL an awesome trailer! Suspenseful, frightening, chilling This is how a trailer should be done. Build up the suspense but don't tell too much of what is happening like today's trailers do...they tell way too much of the story before you ever hit the theater. Make the viewer actually want to see the movie to understand what is going on in the trailer. That trailer makes me want to see the film when I've already seen it several times.

  • @nynosix that's because there by the same director

  • this is easily one of the top 5 sci fi movies. prometheus looks amazing. i hope ridley delivers. there hasnt been a movie like alien since alien.

  • *for an Alien prequel.

  • Great, now I have to wait five months an Alien prequel. NEED A TIME MACHINE!!!!!

  • scariest pussy ever!

  • This trailer gives me goosebumps. Both the creepiness as well as the epicness. I honestly find the Aliens fascinating, and love all the games/movies. Even the bad ones.

  • whats that damn music cue/track?

  • this trailer scares the shit out of me

  • god damn this was what 5 years before the first Terminator??

  • great movie! one of my favorites

  • @SGH28N dude it's just obvious. I'm watching Alien 3 right now btw :D

  • The space jockey chestburster will be the last scene in Prometheus, and we all will se the birth of the queen from Aliens.

  • Comment removed

  • if you look closely at this trailer and the prometheus trailer, youll notice something EXTREMELY similar in both movies. and not just the title sequence.

  • @nynosix like what?

  • @nynosix That submarine-sound!

  • @MyceliaProductions42 It's a klaxon.

  • @N9olan Ah, no shit? But isn't a klaxon that air-raid siren? Maybe it's just a fragment of it.

  • @nynosix

    that alarm sound

  • very good moovie, there is a blog spce story about the suro civilisation : suro invasion on the web

  • One of the best Horror Sci-fi movies ever made

  • well i saw the prometheous trailer and was wondering if my computer was messing up because of all the lines

  • why cant trailers be more like this, you dont know what the phuck is going on. todays standards, we would have already seen the alien and gotten the whole story minus a few insignificant details.

  • @CUjoBitME I'm glad the Prometheus trailer is like that.

  • @CUjoBitME Except for the Prometheus Trailer !

  • @CUjoBitME Well, more of them are now...

  • @CUjoBitME /watch?v=sftuxbvGwiU

    enjoy!

  • This is a very intense trailer even to todays standards.....

  • so sick...amazing movie.

  • Now THAT'S a movie trailer. Holy crap.

  • SHIT that was intense!

  • MOVIE BUZZ

  • This trailer makes me wish I could go back to 1979 and go see it in theaters just to be scared shitless like everybody else!!

  • This trailer set the tone for all horror trailers. What a lot of people fail to realize is that Ridley Scott wasn't making a sci do movie. This was straight up horror, fine tuned to a chilling degree. The fact that the xenomorph is never shown in the trailers (much less hinted at), the lack of voice, the cryptic showing of the egg. I know people who saw the trailer and have been too crawled out to see the movie.

  • @superuberchris Yup. When boiled down to its core, Alien is really just a haunted house movie. And it's freaking awesome.

  • Having not seen this film before watching this trailer, one may be quick to assume it's about a killer space cat...

  • This trailer makes Alien look like the scariest thing to ever hit Cinemas. damn

  • Poor teh kiity!!!

  • cants can see things we cant

  • What has a cat got to do with this movie?

  • @NarutoOrganisation13 It's Ripley's cat - it even comes back in the second movie :3

  • @NarutoOrganisation13

The tradition of the "ship's cat" goes back a long way (in fact, to when Ridley Scott himself was Botswain on HMS Bounty under Captain William Bligh - which is how he got the idea). Back in those days. the cat was "employed" to catch rats in the food rations - but they're so cute that all military vessels, even tanks, now have one - standard issue - in the British Armed Services.

You can't go wrong with a cat scanning the area.

  • Very cool how they went back and made the Prometheus trailer like this one. Nice.

  • Spoilers...THE CAT DID IT!!!!

  • Fuck ya!

  • Why do people believe the Space jockeys created the Xenomorphs?? Nobody has officially said they did, they just saw the eggs in the crashed ship and put two and two together and came up with 7. Maybe the face huggers have lived on LV-426 for millions of years and when they attacked the SJ it produced a Xeno queen!!

  • @MrMantastico read the synopsis of PROM. Spacejockey Lifecreating-Substance+Humans= Xenomorph!

  • @MrMantastico

Exactly. I've never read anything that officially says ( from any of the directors or writers ) that the Space Jockeys created the xenOs. That's like saying because some other alien race found a bird cage with birds in it from one of our abandoned spaceships then humans must have created birds ...

  • 30 years on and this film continues to piss all over most science fiction and horror films released between then and now.

  • kitty! haha we named our old cat Jonesy... it looked just like the Jonesy in this film!

  • This trailer should be in the Library of congress..........

  • I just got chills from watching that.

  • Gotta love the butt shot.

  • GOD, what a fucking amazing trailer. If only the 70s had more trailers like this.

  • i love that scream at 0:46!!!! :D

  • "Game over man! Game over!" Terrible... ruins that movie for me.

    Ridley's Alien is far superior!

  • MY GOD HOW SCI FI HAS IMPROVED OVER THE YEARS

  • @robocong7420 Watch Alien and compare it to either of the Alien Vs. Predator movies. Special effects have improved, but Ridley Scott did rely on special effects as much as great lighting, great writing and great acting.

  • @stevealderphoto

ummm... if you like movies that are slower, less exciting, take longer to get going, have less action, then the first alien was definitely better. but i'm not really into "suspense" movies. i mean... suspense is good. but too much suspense and not enough action is not

  • I don't think Prometheus is going to ignore Aliens but I think the official chronology is going to be Prometheus, Alien and Aliens. Alien 3 and Alien Resurrection will be ignored. Oh well both of the last movies sucked.

  • @Mike19737 I absolutely agree 4,3, even 2 sucked and don't hold a candle to the original. It stands alone. From all I have read Prometheus IS a prequel to Alien, but don't expect to see any of those creatures. This is not about them at all, but the movie finally answers where the derelict ship and pilot came from, and why it crashed on LV-436. I already know why.

  • @enisorian

except that the only thing is that aleinS (the part 2) was so much better than any of the others. the artwork, the look of the aliens, the queen alien. no other sci fi movie to date has ever come close to alienS. i dont expect prometheus to either but i'm still gonna enjoy it

  • @enisorian Wow, finally someone who doesn't like James Cameron's "Aliens"!

  • @Mike19737 No, not exactly. Rewatch Alien 3. It's horribly underrated.

  • @flickflack I heard that the chief problems with Alien 3 were caused by low budget and interference from the studio in the filming process.

  • @neosoc Certainly didn't help. I always hated on Aliens 3 for a long time (and not just because of the screwed up name) until I picked up the Quadrilogy set and rewatched it. It's surprisingly good and more like Alien than Aliens. The "director's cut" also helps a little, even if the added footage is pretty rough.

Alien Resurrection still sucked, even after rewatching, though. That film's just crap.

  • @flickflack I like Resurrection because it highlights Joss Whedon's annoying-ness as a writer and a team player. Apparently, Jean-Pierre Jeunet wanted to make a film more like the original Alien, but Joss stupidly wanted it to be over-the-top and campy.

  • @Mike19737 I think its very bold wot Ridley is attempting to do, and this thing hasnt been done alot in movie franchises at all. The Starwar saga was probably the first of this thing with origins, but then again Lucas bieng the perfectionist he is counted on technology to bump up a notch over decades that he wud do wot no other film-maker wud do especially bk then. So Im very intrigued by Prometheus. And atleast Alien 3 tried to end one part of the franchise instead of keep cashingin

  • @Mike19737 Not ignored as such, just that this is adding to the lore about the Alien origins not the Alien itself but the race who brought it into being, Prometheus does feature the space jockey and those who remember Alien will remember that the space jockey was found dead with its chest burst. Will this be explained in Prometheus as to how the space jockey died? maybe.. but its a good chance it will.

  • Press 8 for my mommy's vagina !!!

  • Comment removed

  • james cameron directed this right??

  • @XgoldbergvspredatorX

No that's Aliens, Ridley Scott directed this one.

  • Thumbs up if you watched Aliens over 50x times :)

  • Why is Ridley Scott saying this Prometheus has nothing to do with the original ? Looks like a prequel to me...

  • @mariodubbz It's a prequel only because it's happening before Alien 1, but it's a new stand alone story that has nothing to do with Ripley. They should have done the same about the new Terminator, a new story in the same world, and stop milking Arnold's nippels.

  • When trailers didn't give anything away.

  • @horsey05

lol yup, the 70s. The 80's though... god, just watch the extended trailer for Aliens. It's terrible.

  • Prometheus!!!

  • Greatest Trailer Ever.

So far ahead of its time, and it still holds up. Epic.

  • Why ridley say in the interview with him, prometheus has nothing to do with alien? For me looks like has everything has something relaten with alien.

  • @DreyfussFUBAR It's a prequel i think.

  • riddlym scott and james cameron are the best directors on the planet.

  • Comment removed

  • @kdudesmyth Serriosly, they should spend the night together(no homo shit) with a good bottle, and brainstorm the most terrifying and action packed original sci-fi/action movie ever known to man.You could even add Speilberg to the mix if he's in for (minimum)a PG-13 movie.Leave the kids with the babysitter.

  • When any dumbshit says the Prometheus trailer has the inception music in it you link them here.

  • @James1803 right now i saw one on Prometheus trailer page.

    its not the inception music

  • @James1803 I don't get it, the Promethius trailer clearly has that Inception trumpet thing going on.

  • @James1803

Just google "rise of the braaahhms"

  • Comment removed

  • @James1803 Yeah this trailer doesn't have inception music though, where as the Promethius one does, so you aren't accomplishing anything by saying that dumbshit.

  • @conman2317 No it doesn't.

  • @James1803 If you are musically inclined, it is very obvious that the Prometheus trailer has a very similar theme. the "thumps" that you hear are in tune with the inception orchestrative rhythm and have the same pitch and bass, that being said, people have every right to say that the Prometheus trailer's soundtrack is similar to inception, AND it has no similarity to this trailer. Whether or not the producers of Prometheus had the purpose of re-creating the inception music.

  • @conman2317 Well, the score is done by the same guy. And to be honest, they just sound like a prolonged violin strum to me.

Actually, the fact that people point to Inception with the Prometheus trailer music annoys me. Like they're obsessed or something.

  • @conman2317 Actually, scratch that, the scores for Inception and Prometheus weren't done by the same guy.

But the violin strum theory still stands.

  • @conman2317 I didn't say anything about it not being similar but neither is it the same exact music.

  • @James1803 What?! There are no Foghorns in this trailer. watch?v=IMTv4Ym0p6A&feature=related

  • @James1803 what does this trailer have something to do with inception music?

  • @James1803 the deep cello noise which is what they're referring to isn't in this trailer, just Prometheus... and Inception... and Shutter Island

  • @TheMadAdder if you remember watching Alien (Ridley Scott) and then Aliens (James Cameron) then you should notice that the aliens are very much different especially in the directors cut they even reproduce differently (scene with the cocoons)

Also the Official Prometheus trailer came out yesturday and it shows Facehuggers and the Space Jockey ship

People that are fans of the series including the first film will not be disappointed over getting to see something new I'm sure the creatures will

  • The egg cracking always makes me jump haha

  • ALIEN AND PREDATOR MOVIES ARE FREAKING AWESOME

  • the only awsome nostalgia trailer ever made

  • I had to deal with my friend thinking Prometheus ripped off the Inception trailer... Thank god this vid is around to prove my point.

  • Thumbs up if you know are HUMAN and not ALIEN...

  • DAMN so he following the trailer template for this and its a fucking incredible template for a trailer, I am guessing they patented it considering no one else just jacked it. But damn that was amazing amazing trailer. Wasnt just BAM BAM BAM it was more intelligent, if I had been in a cinema at this time period and seen this trailer would of been sold striaght away. Loved how you didnt see the alien once either!

  • @Henbot they show you action, but not whats causing the action.

    its pretty brilliant.

  • I would have loved to see this in a theater. Would have be god dam terrifying.

  • the "ALIEN" writing is the same as the Prometheus one in the new trailer... so its clearly the prequel

  • @Darkseid1337 even the music is the same. the alert thingy sound

  • i saw this once...the cat killed them all.

  • Whomever made these trailers needs to be recognized.

  • Thumbs up if your excited for Prometheus!

  • the first Alien movie is still terrifying to this day. I watched it with the lights off this year, and was scared out of my wits. It's so suspenseful and intense.

  • after seeing the trailer for Ridley Scott's prequel Prometheus, it seems very reminiscent of this one. I think both are great trailers. They give you brief, tantalising, horri
