Y'know, in GoLion the robeast and the king die.

The prince, after being transformed into a deathblack beast, is defeated by GoLion, and Sincline (Lotor) attacks him for refusing to fight further. After he falls in water, he explodes, not swims away. The king, whatever his name is, attacks Sincline in anger, but within 2 seconds, a laser causes his gun turrent to explode, killing him.

What WEP did can also be considered pulling a Chuck Cunningham on Prince Avok and the king. The former is never mentioned again while in episode 21, Romelle mentions that the latter, her father, the king went crazy when refusing to join with Planet Arus against Planet Doom, a lame-ass way to cover up the death of bad guys. King Heracles would have never turned good, nor would Samson, and it's more logical for their deaths to prompt Alor (Bandor) to join with Altea than Romelle's capture.
