But I love the way they sound, look just everything I like about them and im going to get one one of these day's. But if it came down to it the only time I would buy a Dodge it would be a truck or the new SRT8 Challenger.

And the GTO does a 1/4 in 13sec flat in RWD and the Jeep does it in about 13.2 in AWD so it pretty much depend's on the driver. But if you turn the AWD off that Jeep wouldn't be nothing. And yes I kno that a GTO has a 6.0l Vette engine it, I also know the 04 model's have 5.7l 350's in it, just saying considering GTO's are only my fav car's in the world... win or lose:)

I love the new Mustangs and share your enthusiasm, but the new V6 Mustangs are not even close to the 6.0L GTO, I can't say for the 2004 5.7 GTO, but I own a 2006 stock A4 GTO and my brother just got a brand new 2012 6spd Mustang V6 with the supposed 0-60= 5.1. I drove the thing and seemed like someone had thrown an anchor as compared to my GTO, but I must say it is quick and a great looking car in and out. I'm trying to convince him to go with me to the track once it "breaks in".
@flusyndrome Didn't know the GTO came out with a 6.0L, wasn't aware of that. Don't keep track of them. I was strictly talking the 5.7, compared to the new V6. Cheaper, Faster, Lighter, and much better handling than the 5.7. I got my wife the 2011 V6, and my Cousin owns a 5.7L, my wife (who's never raced a day in her life), beat the 5.7 by .30 on the 1/4.
If u wanna compare to 6.0, I've taken it many times to the track (unprepped track and with stock tires) and run consistently 8.7- 8.8 at 84-85 mph in the 8th, and about 13.4 @ 104mph ih the quarter, plus I suck at driving. I'd like to know what the '11 V6 Mustang is doing in the 8th so I can tell my brother what to expect with his 2012. BTW regarding this video, a stock 6.0 GTO will NEVER catch that Srt8 in the 1/8th, but will catch it eventually and beat in the 1/4th, if stock.
hehe the GTO doesn't stand a chance since it's not layin' down the torque the Hemi is, simple as that, even a stock SRT8 can blow a way a GTO easily, modify the SRT8 in the slightest and nothing on the road can run her down, I"ve had a run-in with a GTO in PA that looked non-stock, and blew it away without the Hemi workin' up a sweat

A stock 04 5.7 Goat will hit 159mph with the governor, and a stock 05 gto without the governor will go 170-175 mph. So whats gonna happen to the Jeep after 100 mph?? its gonna get dusted.... I like racing the 1/4 but this isn't a true test of a cars max performance

Well my truck stock ran mid to high 15's and I'm running mid 12's now so I think thats a little quicker than a .10 jackass. My truck weighs 4500 lbs compared to the jeeps 4800. With slicks and caltracs my truck does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds oh and I get 18.5 mpg city & 23 hwy when cruising. Not bad for 600hp, a lot better than 10/12 mpg in the Jeep lol. Later Poser!!

Yea, I own a corvette (Way lighter than the GTO) and the Srt-8 Jeep.. The jeep Eats the vette alive off the line, and they run very similar times based on launches and shifts.. ects.. its very fun to race them.. but yea.. The GTO.. stock anyways doesnt have a chance.. Trust me.. GTO's kick ass.. dont get me wrong.. I love em, and modden they are sick to drag, or even drift.. but in this case, stock for stock the srt 8 is the faster vehicle.
@Tipownsyou yeah, totally agree the GTO never stood a chance, but iv raced a few stock SRT8 Jeeps and on a roll, with good shifting the GTO will pull away...and in the 1/4 they are damn close...iv been beaten....and iv won, rlly depends on the driver for the 1/4...SRT8 amazing launch with more HP, but its a boat...id says its a 50/50 on the 1/4 as long as the GTO can launch and shift
@optimoe54 it doesnt have launch control. it has 11 1/2 inch tires in the rear and AWD it doesnt need LC, plus launch control doesnt come on automatics. evos have launch control. the only kind of launch control the jeep could have is if you were to put a different stall converter in it. in jeep srt8s all you have to do is come to a stop and then push that pedal as hard as you can. thats all there is to it
@optimoe54 ive owned mine for almost 2 years, it does not have launch control...it has traction control...no launch control, launch control is your left foot with an automatic. power brake it and let off. launch control in a manual is if you have the clutch engaged the engine will only rev so high. in my evo it was 5500rpm and you can put a stall converter in say a corvette and it will only rev as much as you need to get a good launch so you dont destroy yours tires as well as your 1/4 mile time
Well there is a lot of non drivin GTO owners out there because I have never lost to a stock 6.0 anything. Ask any Jeep SRT 8 owner and they will say the same thing.. it all in the launch..
@flamdpt From a roll the jeep isnt ganna win 420hp can only move a 5000lb jeep so far.But a i had a charger srt8 and it had no promblem eating gtos and the new camaro at any speed.
@flamdpt You should practice some more. I've ran an 8.75 1/8th mile at 81.18mph in my 4.6 Liter Lincoln with just bolt-ons. You wouldn't want to lose to a 4.6 would ya? :-D
@KUjayhawk90 Thanks. I'm shooting for low 13s next year after the dyno tune this winter and some underdrive pullies. That will be pretty much the last of my NA mods. After that, I'm going forged internals with a blower and will be aiming for 12 flat quarters. It's addicting and I see this car going much faster in the future. It started off as a mediocre 15 second car. I will still run it in full street trim with heated leather seats and all of the options too. :-)
dont argue about how big and bad your vehicle is on top end because the whole point of this video is to show how fast a vehicle is in a qtr mile, you might be catchin the jeep at the end of the quarter and about to pass it but if he beats you thats all that matters,
@flamdpt From a dig, no a GTO won't win because it just won't hook up and 4 wheel drive trumps it. But from a role or even a quarter mile track, it's a driver's race with it slightly in the GTO's favor. This is speaking stock for stock.

GTO is overall a lot faster it just that they where running a 1/8th mile and the Jeep is a 4x4 vs a RWD..... Usually the GTO catches the Jeep around 50 or 60mph
Well more than likely he cant drive... Ive raced many SR8's... Jeeps and Chargers... Ive beaten both... I always catch the Jeeps around 50-60mph and Im usually kneck and kneck with the Charger until around 50 when I start to pull away...

Well GTO's are hard to launch if you dont know how to drive which a lot of people dont... Thats probably why you took him all the way... My GTO is a 5.7, I was bone stock when I beat my buddies, Ya he took me from a dig till about 60 or so when I caught him. But I also know how to launch a M6 properly... Bone stock I ran a 13.1 @ 107... With Mods now I run High 11's so a stock SRT8 is no competition at all.. Still nice ass trucks non the less and I would love to have one....
you must really know how to drive cuz ive never seen a stock gto 5.7 touch 13.7s but like you say most dont know a thing about driving. when i had my evo and that thing had probably 340-350awhp running 23 psi and a crap ton of mods...i raced a jeep from a roll and i didnt gain an inch from 30 to 90. after 90 i pulled pretty hard about 1 1/2 cars to 120. and a 5.7 gto didnt stand a chance against my evo i raced a 6.0 from a dig and in about a 1/2 mile i beat him by 5-6 cars
umm yes we know. the previous older models of gto's came with the 5.7 liter ls1. and i believe i was talkin to a guy that said his ls1 would run in the low 13's which is impossible without spending quite a bit of money.
the 5.7 runs 14 flat. on a good day. ive seen stock 6.0's hit 13.5s down to 13.3s. now with just exhaust, intake, and drag radials those 6.0s will go sub 13 seconds easy. but still srt8 FTW
according to car and driver a 6.0 GTO actually does 13.3 at 107 where as the SRT8 they tested did 13.2 at 104. so they are really close provided you know how to launch a GTO
@flamdpt just saying the testers are not always the best some people are naturally good at that and some are just decent and had the hook up to be with car and driver not arguing ur not gonna pick up .9 in the 1/4 mile i dont think but there are better drivers
No dude they run Low 13's Maybe 14's if its the 5.7 or if racing in crappy States (High Altitude / Heat) However the 6.0 models. They clear the 1/4 mile a hair faster than Evo and STI's. GTO's can pull high 12's low 13's with the right weather conditions. Car and Driver must have made a mistake.

@flamdpt How do you figure that a Jeep SRT is a half second faster in the quarter? Unless a Jeep SRT is running a 12.3 second quarter it is not faster than a GTO in the quarter. A stock 6.0 GTO will do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds.

Yeah, its the STI of SUVs. Tons of grunt down low, but the AWD doesnt handle high speed as well. But its still AMAZING that crysler managed to put togather a jeep that hits 60 in about the same time as the STI.

Well my truck stock ran mid to high 15's and I'm running mid 12's now so I think thats a little quicker than a .10 jackass. My truck weighs 4500 lbs compared to the jeeps 4800. With slicks and caltracs my truck does 0-60 in 3.8 seconds oh and I get 18.5 mpg city & 23 hwy when cruising. Not bad for 600hp, a lot better than 10/12 mpg in the Jeep lol. Later Poser!!

Yea, I own a corvette (Way lighter than the GTO) and the Srt-8 Jeep.. The jeep Eats the vette alive off the line, and they run very similar times based on launches and shifts.. ects.. its very fun to race them.. but yea.. The GTO.. stock anyways doesnt have a chance.. Trust me.. GTO's kick ass.. dont get me wrong.. I love em, and modden they are sick to drag, or even drift.. but in this case, stock for stock the srt 8 is the faster vehicle.

@optimoe54 it doesnt have launch control. it has 11 1/2 inch tires in the rear and AWD it doesnt need LC, plus launch control doesnt come on automatics. evos have launch control. the only kind of launch control the jeep could have is if you were to put a different stall converter in it. in jeep srt8s all you have to do is come to a stop and then push that pedal as hard as you can. thats all there is to it

@optimoe54 ive owned mine for almost 2 years, it does not have launch control...it has traction control...no launch control, launch control is your left foot with an automatic. power brake it and let off. launch control in a manual is if you have the clutch engaged the engine will only rev so high. in my evo it was 5500rpm and you can put a stall converter in say a corvette and it will only rev as much as you need to get a good launch so you dont destroy yours tires as well as your 1/4 mile time

After that, I'm going forged internals with a blower and will be aiming for 12 flat quarters. It's addicting and I see this car going much faster in the future. It started off as a mediocre 15 second car. I will still run it in full street trim with heated leather seats and all of the options too. :-)

@flamdpt From a dig, no a GTO won't win because it just won't hook up and 4 wheel drive trumps it. But from a role or even a quarter mile track, it's a driver's race with it slightly in the GTO's favor. This is speaking stock for stock.

GTO is overall a lot faster it just that they where running a 1/8th mile and the Jeep is a 4x4 vs a RWD..... Usually the GTO catches the Jeep around 50 or 60mph

Well GTO's are hard to launch if you dont know how to drive which a lot of people dont... Thats probably why you took him all the way... My GTO is a 5.7, I was bone stock when I beat my buddies, Ya he took me from a dig till about 60 or so when I caught him. But I also know how to launch a M6 properly... Bone stock I ran a 13.1 @ 107... With Mods now I run High 11's so a stock SRT8 is no competition at all.. Still nice ass trucks non the less and I would love to have one....

you must really know how to drive cuz ive never seen a stock gto 5.7 touch 13.7s but like you say most dont know a thing about driving. when i had my evo and that thing had probably 340-350awhp running 23 psi and a crap ton of mods...i raced a jeep from a roll and i didnt gain an inch from 30 to 90. after 90 i pulled pretty hard about 1 1/2 cars to 120. and a 5.7 gto didnt stand a chance against my evo i raced a 6.0 from a dig and in about a 1/2 mile i beat him by 5-6 cars

the 5.7 runs 14 flat. on a good day. ive seen stock 6.0's hit 13.5s down to 13.3s. now with just exhaust, intake, and drag radials those 6.0s will go sub 13 seconds easy. but still srt8 FTW

according to car and driver a 6.0 GTO actually does 13.3 at 107 where as the SRT8 they tested did 13.2 at 104. so they are really close provided you know how to launch a GTO

No dude they run Low 13's Maybe 14's if its the 5.7 or if racing in crappy States (High Altitude / Heat) However the 6.0 models. They clear the 1/4 mile a hair faster than Evo and STI's. GTO's can pull high 12's low 13's with the right weather conditions. Car and Driver must have made a mistake.

@flamdpt How do you figure that a Jeep SRT is a half second faster in the quarter? Unless a Jeep SRT is running a 12.3 second quarter it is not faster than a GTO in the quarter. A stock 6.0 GTO will do 0-60 in 4.5 seconds and run the quarter mile in 12.8 seconds.
